The reason Drew sang the concerts is that he is the original singing voice of Troy Bolton in HSM1. That's because Zac is a baritone, but the songs were already written for a tenor voice. Therefore, Zac only sings two lines (the beginning of "Start of something new" and the beginning of "Breaking free") in the first movie. In the other two movies the songs were written for a baritone voice, as they were written after Zac was casted, obviously, so he could sing them himself.

When i was 7 i went to this concert and i was like "OH MY GOD!! Zac Efron is going to see me in the audience and be like ' wow look at that girl, i wanna marry her!'" and i got there wearing an I <3 ZAC shirt! and then Drew Seeley preformed . -___-

ok zac and drews voices were mixed i nhe first hsm thats why drews there it was more Drews voice. bu in hsm 2 and 3 it was zac cuz his voice changed and he could sing o the songs. thats why his voic3 chnaged form first to the seconf and third becuz its zac efron.

In the first HSM film, they meshed the voices of Drew Seeley and Zac Efron together to get the voice of Troy. This is because the songs for the first film were originally written for a tenor, and Zac is a baritone. The two men's voice's in order to get a more cohiesive sound. This is why Drew is so easily able to replace Zac in the shows. The producers of the film could've transposed the songs into Zac's range, but most likely chose not to due to only having 30 days to shoot the first movie.
