I just want to know if I'm understanding this right. So if I think that black on the screen looks a little green, I'd move the "low" color wheel to green? And if I think white looks, say, blue-ish, I'd put the high color wheel into blue? Or do I have to use the opposite color?
@iEatPorkchop Use the low color wheel color chooser to choose what is supposed to b black on the screen. Use the high color wheel chooser to choose what is supposed to be white on the screen.
@maddiemay1001 Sony Color Corrector is in all versions of Sony Movie Studio Platinum. Not in basic Movie Studio. Find Movie Studio Platinum 10 at Amazon for under $50.
@maddiemay1001 yea I dont have the color corrector either. Guess thats what you get for getting the cheapest of their software. Wish there was a pluggin to get for it. But probably have to buy the next step up like movie studio 11 platnium I think has the corrector
@brntguy If you do upgrade, get Movie Studio Platinum 10 from Amazon. It's under $40, and much more stable than Movie Studio Platinum 11. Has everthing MS 11 has except 3D. And not much use for 3D these days.
@brntguy Yes, Movie Studio Platinum 10 does have color corrector and secondary color. Plus it works with all the free plugins I show in my YouTube videos.
Thank you for making that correction :) Anyway I already spent money on Vegas Movie Studio 9 HD, but I also have Magic Bullet Looks which I got from a friend not too long ago and the presets in it are amazing!!!
@Swaginrags Vegas Pro is the 'professional' version of Sony Movie Studio Platinum.
Sony Movie Studio Platinum 10 has the same layout, same processes, same features, and does the same thing as the Pro version, yet is available at Amazon for under $60.
The Pro version does have masking, a few more effects, and 3D video editing.
@182SecondsOfSilence Color Corrector is available in Movie Studio Platinum 8, 9 & 10, and Movie Studio HD 9 & 10. It isn't available in the basic home version of Movie Studio, but is available in all other versions.
Also, what SD cams (That have good white balance controls) do you reccomend? I've been told that if you're gonna buy a new camcorder that you should shoot for an HD cam. One good thing about the Canon HV20 is that you can switch from shooting SD or HD video... but this could be a common feature.
@JDBCreations Most pros while balance the camera before shooting. But many cameras have excellent auto white balance. And should you not white balance, you can fix most color problems in editing.
Also, one of my camcorders just has auto white balance and the other has real unsophisticated white balance controls. So could you just shoot your footage then white balance in editing later using the color correction tool in Vegas? I mean is this just as good as manually white balancing using the camera?
@JDBCreations White balancing the camera before you shoot a scene almost always produces better results than white balancing using video editing software.
Hey Bill, stupid question here, but what if you don't have something thats absolutely white or absolutely black on the screen? I'm thinking that maybe for the beginning of each shot you could show a white poster board and a black poster board, then white balance on editing using the color corrector on Vegas, then the whole rest of the shot will be white balanced and you can just cut out the beginning with the poster boards... if that makes any sense lol.
@JDBCreations You could use poster board as you suggested. Or you could use the board to white balance the camcorder before shooting. This will give the best results.
Hey Bill. When you have several clips in the timeline and you use video fx for one of them such as color correcting, and like the way it turned out.Is there a way to apply the settings to the rest of your clips or do you manually have to go in and change every clip.I want to be able to make all of my clips have the same color correcting done to them without having to change each one independently.
Thanks. I have Vegas studio 7 and it has the video FX but it doesnt have those three, nice color wheels-- the only thing I know how to use is the slider for R,G,B or insert percentage numbers.
Hey Bill, Dumb question here, but what if you don't have something thats absolutely black or white on your screen? And when I use the mid wheel to adjust flesh colors the entire picture ends up being slightly tinted that way. I'm using the minus eye dropper... but the whole picture ends up looking a tad sepia tome-ish. And whats the plus eye droppers for? Thanks.
I have a problem the screen that you have on 1:00 doesn't pop-up on my sony vegas anymore, do you know how I can get it back to pop-up I really need your help.
Hi! I cannot choose a group of pixels (rectangle). Should I click with some special key? Is it possible to make the correction only on the specific area in the video?
@guerillabill What do you mean, "at least 2 gig" on Windows XP? Windows XP cannot use more than 2 gig, can it? Therefore why don't you just say "you need 2 gig." Which I happen to disagree with, incidentally.
@DominicMetal1979 Windows XP can read up to 4 gig of Ram - at least according to Microsoft. And a low memory error message as mentioned in the post I was replying to means 'low memory'
@guerillabill 32-bit versions of most versions of Windows can only recognize up to 3.25GB of RAM. There is debate about how well it can use that .25 gigs, with some saying it does not use and others saying it can use it for certain purposes.
64-bit versions of Windows can handle however much RAM your motherboard can handle. The limitation isn't the software now, it's the hardware. I have 8GB of RAM. 4GB is the sweet spot as of today, giving the most bang for your buck.

The project I wanted to burn was 1.6GB. So the ! symbol was present and wouldn't let me burn. It stated there was not enough space. Help!!
In DVD Architect, select 'options', 'preferences', 'burning', and make sure you have specified the correct drive for 'default prepare folder', and 'temporary files folder'.

You can enhance video by changing the brightness, contrast and color balance.
And you can add effects that will make the video look like you shoot poor quality on purpose for artistic effect.
You can create templates from projects in Sony Movie Studio. I do that and include one on my DVD.

Yes, do this:
1. Add the clip to a single track
2. Add the secondary color corrector to the clip
3. Click on the Select Effect Range eyedropper and pick the color to keep.
4. Click on Invert Mask
5. Click on Mask and use the Limit tools to adjust the mask to the correct area.
6. uncheck Mask
7. In the top section, change Saturation to 0.
