I find Hayley has some stunning work, but at the same time some of her music is so pop-classical. I find it hard to say how I really feel about her music overall. I love her Coventry Carol for example where she creates a perfect atmosphere and an original rendition of the piece. She is subtle and calming. However with something like this the piece is so overplayed that I loose interest; I have heard it all, the song and style, before. I am not criticizing, I just cant tell what "side" she is on.

And she's an interesting entertainer, and she can sing opera arias with a microphone. REAL opera singers, do not need microphones, except to sing in stadiums (like at baseball games, The Proms, etc.). Ms. Brightman, cannot sing an opera, beginning to end, without a microphone. She may be the world's best selling soprano, but that doesn't make her an opera singer.

She can sing whatever she likes and make it available to the public, and thanks to that many more people now are more aware of classical music. No one really knew who Andrea Bocelli was so the song was ignored until Sarah asked Andrea to do a duet so this is considered Sarah Brightman's song... so that's the other main reason why everyone is comparing... yep..

When I say opera I mean musical theatre and opera songs, arias, (lyrical) music from periods like Baroque and Classical and Romantic. Search YouTube for 'O mio babbino caro', an aria from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, by Hayley, Sarah Brightman (awful), Anna Netrebko (typically Russian, no like), Montserrat Caballé (naah), Kiri Te Kanawa (now we're getting there), Maria Callas (oh yes), and, my favorite, Angela Gheorghiu. Listen to the timbre of their voices. Hayley is certainly up there with the best.
The girl can flat out sing. It's like she is on loan from Heaven. This kind of talent is rare. I absolutely love Hayley Westenra. What refreshment for the soul.
Haley`s voice is much stronger then Sarah`s it is just a matter of taste though if you like a strong voice or a light pitch voice either way they are both great

I love both versions of Sarah and Hayley. Hayley's version is more like optimistic, while Sarah's version is more persistent. Both interpret the song so well, and their voice is absolutely terrific.

@davlor86 I personally love both Hayley Williams and Hayley Westenra, I simply love a very wide range of music, and the only explanation I can offer for why Williams is more famous is that American pop/rock/punk is a far bigger industry than the classical industry. That's simply it. Youth culture dictates what is popular music-wise. Hayley also featured on B.O.B's Airplanes and rap/hip hop is also a huge industry somewhat bigger than rock as the UK top 40 is always dominated by this genre.
Haley has a great voice, in fact it is the voice of a young Sarah Brightman. She holds the last note of this song longer than Sarah and to be compared to her is a fantastic feat in itself. Both are very good at what they sing, in fact fantastic.
I have travelled to see Hayley in concert lots of times and she always leaves me wanting more of her beautiful voice . I hate it when she says that the concert is coming to its end ( it is the only down part for me ) . I have to confess that i am a Hayley addict , you can keep your other singers , my hearing is perfect .

I love both versions of Sarah and Hayley. Hayley's version is more like optimistic, while Sarah's version is more persistent. Both interpret the song so well, and their voice is absolutely terrific.

@davlor86 I personally love both Hayley Williams and Hayley Westenra, I simply love a very wide range of music, and the only explanation I can offer for why Williams is more famous is that American pop/rock/punk is a far bigger industry than the classical industry. That's simply it. Youth culture dictates what is popular music-wise. Hayley also featured on B.O.B's Airplanes and rap/hip hop is also a huge industry somewhat bigger than rock as the UK top 40 is always dominated by this genre.

Haley has a great voice, in fact it is the voice of a young Sarah Brightman. She holds the last note of this song longer than Sarah and to be compared to her is a fantastic feat in itself. Both are very good at what they sing, in fact fantastic.

I have travelled to see Hayley in concert lots of times and she always leaves me wanting more of her beautiful voice . I hate it when she says that the concert is coming to its end ( it is the only down part for me ) . I have to confess that i am a Hayley addict , you can keep your other singers , my hearing is perfect .

I totally agree with Romantic Bob, both are different and individual. We as individuals have different tastes and likes. Just like not everyone will agree on certain issues. Hayley is an amazing singer but....Im not keen on her version of this song. Dont get me wrong her voice is amazing throughout but its not in the same league as the Katherine Jenkins version.

Sarah has a more mature voice than Haley, but Haley's voice is crisp and clean unlike any others. They're both breath taking singers though. :)

I wish people would STOP comparing Sarah Bightman & Hayley.
They have different Voices, different song styling in their interpretation of Songs..
They are both simply AMAZING..
You do them both an injustice when you compare them & then say one is "better" then the other.
It comes down to your own personal preference..leave @ that.
There's no need to put one down to make the other seem better..
I've seen Hayley in Concert..Amazing.
I've seen Sarah In Las Vegas..Incredible & Magnificent.

Recently I became a very big fan of Sarah Brightman and I can imagine I will become one of Hayley too. It is like me loving Carreras, Domingo and the late Pavarotti. Different voices and styles. I love your comments. You are so right. Just listen to it - we dont care if you dont like it or want another to sing it. Sometimes it is like that the brain we got allows us to be judge on all things and we want the rest of the world to know what we feel in that way. It dosnt change a thing and it is a waist of time which could be spend better on other things like helping yourself or others. I guess we only have this life - spend it well and enjoy that you are alive.

i love hayley westerna. i love that you never hear about her in the magazines because she keeps to herself. she wont even give her boyfriends name away. and shes such a sweet person too. my friends parents went to go see her and said she was letting ppl up on stage to meet her and take pics and stuff. @mimiller8 : actually i found it. :( it's very amzing, but Hayley is dead on-key as always, but Andrea seemed off a little bit. :( He never is. and the skaters get the top billing. a bit disappointing. If Andrea is into it and Hayley is her always wonderful self, I want to see that. :) Just an opinion, of course.
