@kalit8001 well the Si here has coilovers plus wider wheels/tires. Guessing it's more aggressively sprung than the HFP suspension, so this Si might handle better than an HFP-equipped Si.
@sugasugaki Guess I missed that. The HFP suspension is STIFF though. I lift a wheel when going over a speed bump diagonally. Either way, both cars are pretty badass. It's just too bad that honda refuses to sell the type R in the USA. HFP is as good as it gets!
Orido says at 9:50 that "for a car without LSD there's not a lot of inside wheel spin", and that's funny because the inside wheel is resisting spin BECAUSE of the stock Torsen LSD. He was probably misinformed about the cars specs, but he was spot-on when he felt like there was an LSD. @StL87 : I used to own an FG2 and Hawk HPS brake pads are great for street and some track days. HP+'s are great for street and a lot of track days (but are really dusty & noisy). Those + ATE brake fluid = :D :D
If its a Torsen diff as smokenrowboy says below then technically its not an LSD. LSD means Limited Slip Diff, Torsen doesnt allow any slip at all. But anyway, id say its just something lost in translation.
this comparision isn't even fair. The type r is 4 door and the si is coupe. They should have used the usdm 4 door. Also, they've should have put 18 inches on the usdm civic to make a fair comparision.
the only thing i saw on this video is he was talking about how our (US) Civic Si doesn't have LSD, from 06+ matter what packages you put on the car they all have a helical lsd...
u r an idiot u can put kpro on a civic si u mite have to do custum harness cuxz im not sure if thy made one yet for the si but u can do it cuz my buddy did it he took a k20z n put it in a crx ......stupid lol
i have an 08 civic si sedan... does any1 here knows how much it would cost to upgrade the cams to a type r cams? or better than the type r cams? if you do what other parts should be changed along with the type r cams? or is it simply just switching it? thanks...
you need to do some research before going into mods like that, and not on youtube. There is much better cams on the market than type r. IPS cams make good power, full valvetrain upgrade is needed. You will need a tuning device and a tune, professional preferably (flashpro or cobb access port).
This is an unfair way to compare both cars. Two good drivers should go to the touge with the cars. 20hp in general does not make a difference on the touge but "weight and 20hp" does. 50% or what a driver needs for the SI can be bought of the self and applied to their ride to challenge a Civic Type-R. The other 50% is skill.... Get some guys. then do your judging. I beat an s2k in the mountains with a 2000 si (201whp). s2k had 250whp both na. s2k-2561lbs and my si-2431lbs.
20hp is not gtoing to make the difference. the driver maikes the biggest difference. I garentee you the mugen si can beat the type r if it had better tires. The cars are identical except for minor things. In a race the type r still does not have enough hp to pull away from the si if the si had better brakes.
20 hp will totally make a difference, mugen si having a chance against a type r?are you kidding me!?!mugen si is nothing, just like a base si,engine is practically the same, same drive by wire which jdm type r does not have, civic type r can spank a dc5 type r,there is no way in heck can an si/mugen beat a civic r,let alone a dc5 r?sure they are almost identical but like they said,it's like night and day, totally different cars,si/mugen's are weak when compared to jdm cars,U.S. will never compare
Dude wtf are you talking about. 20hp does make a difference. Everything on the Type R is better. It's not just the engine. Better suspension, wheels, brakes, etc. Its an all around better car.
you are an idiot.... mugen si is the same shit at the si coupe...neither can compete against the fd2 in any race better tires or not. and 20 extra hp will make a difference when hp nubers are that low...maybe if the type r had 620 hp and the si had 600, it wouldnt make a difference
I guess Orido felt the wheels spin too much on the bumpy turns and thought the Si had no LSD. Maybe the Si's LSD feel's so uneffective that it's like it's not there at all. I honestly don't know what to look for when LSD's are working. When I track my car, all I know is that the car doesn't do anything dramatic into and out of the corners. I don't know what to look for when LSD's are working.
The Si's do have an LSD, but are choked down due to lower octane ratings and more stringient emissions requirements. I swapped out the stock cat/exhaust manifold with a catless racing header and I can walk away from a stock Si side by side.
Fg2 LSD isnt set at 1.5. The Fd2 is. Thats what it is. What separates the typer from our SI coupe is the Type R cams, 1.5 way LSD, Stronger brakes, Larger wheels for less rollover is the corners, weight and the type r having better dampers. Everything he said is true. Plus I've driven the type r sedan. All our si needs is better cams. the rest will come as you mod your cars. Its nothing to be intimidated by. The type r is our si without the "go green factor"....
Ya the Si dose have LSD, I should know cause I sell Hondas Most likely the Type R has a better LSD them what comes on the Si, plus it has 20 more horse power than the Si. Everyone else gets the good stuff and the US gets the crap. :(
