I didnt care for the real Startrek "underconstruction" trailer.... I always thought the Constitution class was built in the shipyards in space, like ALL starships. Why, because the Constitutions couldnt break earth gravity from the ground... not built for it. This is why it can only spend REAL limited amounts of time in atmo.
But in fact this could be ONE Enterprise... Don't forget that in the pre-TOS era there was Captain April and Captain Pike before Kirk on the command of the big E. Earlier there was Captain Archer in the nx01. In the various shows/movies they have changed 6 ships! We have seen also a Enterprise J in one episode of "enterprise"... This could easily be the first version of the bigE before it was "refitted" prior the TOS, who knows! We'll see it on the big screen.

It's nicely done. The blue and gold theme is really nice, and it makes me think of a movie that will probably be better than the real one that comes out. I'm infinitely grateful that Joss Whedon is not doing it, but this retelling young Kirk and co. schtick just reeks of generic fail. It's up there with those character A from this movie vs. character B from that other movie ideas.

The plaque in the bridge of the TOS Enterprise says: San Francisco, Calif.
And in the book "making of Star Trek" by Rodenberry himself he says that the parts of the ship were built on earth and assembled in space, so...
Also this is a pre-TOS movie, so we don't know if this is THE Enterprise we all know...

the badge featured was only used on the enterprise's crew's uniforms in the origional series (so the enterprise is actually featured thank god) and this is circulating.... (possible spoiler lol) "Romulans (led by Nero) use the Guardian of Forever to go back in time and kill Kirk. Old Spock goes back and enlists the help of young Spock (who has not yet met Kirk) to stop this from happening."...............interesting

It's nicely done. The blue and gold theme is really nice, and it makes me think of a movie that will probably be better than the real one that comes out. I'm infinitely grateful that Joss Whedon is not doing it, but this retelling young Kirk and co. schtick just reeks of generic fail. It's up there with those character A from this movie vs. character B from that other movie ideas.

You know what just kills me about trekkies is that none of them would last 3 seconds in the Trek universe. Childish, immature, and most of all, physically unhealthy. Ever been to a Trek con? It looks like sign up day at a fat farm. Capt. Janeway would make you wall run laps around the perimeter of Voyager!

Go on the Trekbbs site and have a look at the arguments on there over canon, ship design, actors et al.
What most of them fail to realise is that Trek was on it's arse and JJ Abrams has come along, lookedat it and is trying to do something with the failed franchise - yet still they moan!!

Ppl. who follow spectator sports do the same thing. I'm really afraid of what JJ Abrams is going to do with Trek. I would have just said, "here is the 23rd century, they don't use money, they're unschooled, they're explorers, they live in a different world because of discoveries in physics..." I would have put a super young crew on a science vessel, instead of a military one, who would have gone on a mission. The story would be weird and surreal feeling, like some were in the 1960's.

Actually, the cell phone's inventor got the idea from star trek. Along with many other things, like the first space shuttle was named Enterprise after the Star Trek ship. See the Discovery Channel Documentary "How William Shatner Changed the World".
