  • Me encanta este grupo musical.

  • Salva Nos Stella Maris is one of the name used for the virgin Mary, the song is a supplication to her .

  • can't sadly stand their pronunciation of caelorum...

  • @salazarsable is that what they are saying? Sounds like selorum. Not KAIL-ORUM. Oh well C:

  • Portuguese means Save us, lol, Latim=Português

  • the beggining melody sounded abit like palastinalied

  • I Really Love This Song ;D

  • Women are wonderful. How can you disagree?

  • [ Tu mater expers paris Manna celeste paris Et panem angelorum ] Thou, mother lacking an equal didst bear The manna of heaven And the bread of angels

[ O parens expers maris Partu non violaris Paris sanctum sanctorum ] O parent lacking a male And not defiled by the birth Thou didst bear the holy of holies

[ Celeste manna paris Lux cecis, dux ignaris Solamen angelorum ] Thou didst bear the manna of heaven O light to the blind, leader to the ignorant Solace of the angels

  • LYRICS GAIZ :D

[ Salva nos, stella maris Et regina celorum ] Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven

[ Que pura deum paris Et per rubum signaris Nesciens viri thorum ] Who while the pure didst bear God And art signaled in the burning bush Not knowing man as a consort

[ O virgo specialis Sis nobis salutaris Imperatrix celorum ] O virgin most special Be thou our salvation O ruler of heaven

  • "Blessed be" has become short-hand for liberal insane tolerence

  • @memorarenz: And it's people like you that make the rest conservatism look terrible. Parading your religion and weaponizing the word "liberal" to bash others. Get off of youtube, troll, and let the rest of us enjoy our music in peace. God Bless and Blessed be to us all!

  • @deeg9027 *the rest OF conservatism

  • @deeg9027 I dont see how refuting attacks on truth and the Blessed Virgin Mary is being a 'troll'. Its ok to bleat constant liberal and pagan nonsense, but Lord help us if anyone corrects them!

  • Beautiful song.... shame there are so many ignorant comments on here Blessed Be xx

  • No religion is correct, and organized religion is the root to a LOT of problems. Why do you people base so much on an invention instead of an idea? The MORALS of Christianity are excellent. And the IDEA of life inside of everything under the sun instead of summing it up to one supreme entity is also wonderful. Here's a thought, take morals and make yourself a better person using them instead of claiming everything you believe in 'right'.

  • @TheMordSith Pro tip for convincing arguments: Just because you assert something as true, doesn't make it so. Don't make ridiculous statements like 'no religion is correct' if you don't have any backing. The definition of 'morals' is entirely dependent on which of these 'invented' religions you subscribe to; which makes it kind of important which one is right or not.

  • @PraetorHesperus I was stating my opinion. In MY opinion, there is no correct religion, they are all the same. The only thing that changes is the manner mankind interprets it. That is exactly what I was meaning in my comment... The nature of a person's morals, much like everything else, is in the eye of the beholder. I only used Christianity as an example because once again in my opinion, the morals presented are what I consider to be excellent. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no?

  • @TheMordSith In your original comment you said to use morals to better yourself. Yet you say they are subjective. My point is that these two ideas don't jive very well. Either things are subjective and it doesn't matter what anyone does, or there is a right way and it is vitally important to find it. Bettering yourself based on opinion is meaningless. You are of course entitled to opinion, but no-ones opinion holds any weight, not yours or mine or anyone elses, has to be something more to it.

  • @TheMordSith

This is what the Pope brilliantly calls the "dictatorship of relativism", that is, an oximoron, an apparent contradiction in which it becomes impossible to believe in anything, since affirming it inmediately implies denying any contrary, and, oh my God, that seems to be no good... :-)

The song is beautiful, a call to our Holy Mother, The morning Star - stella maris- to help us in our salvation. My latin is nonexisting, but I think the lyrics also calls her Pilgrim of the stars.

  • @TierradeMaria

No, but "Regina celorum", Queen of Heavens

  • Amen.

  • Amen

  • Amen.

  • Paganism is simply the world waiting for Christ. Christianity is timeless - The triune God has ruled forever. Modern Paganism is simply the retarded failure to embrace the truth.

  • does anyone know from which language they took the album name? because that "save us", salva nos - that's how its spelled in portuguese, but i don't know if they get it from another language

  • The song is so beautiful and I never mind whether it's "Christian" or "Pagan".

Besides, can Mother Mary save a soul in Christianity? I thought Christians believe only Jesus can bring

Salvation. Anyway, "Salve nos Stella na Maris et Regina Cellorum" means "Save us, O Star of the Sea,

and the Queen of Heaven". This way, it could be a sailors' song, too, sung in a case of distress,

eg. violent storm, gale or battle. Salvation in this case would be literal (from death).

  • this song is so beautiful and I personally don't mind whether it's "Pagan" or "Christian". Besides, is Mother Mary able to save a soul in Christianity? I thought Christians believe only Jesus can do this. Anyway, salvation here can mean a lot of things. "Salve nos Stella na Maris et Regina Cellorum" means "Save us, o Star of the Sea and the Queen of Heaven". This could have been a sailors' song sung in distress (eg. violent storm or gale). So "save us" would be literal this way

  • @quetzl222

i had no idea! lol. i like that explanation

  • @quetzl222 lol no, i havent. who won? i'm sure there were plenty of casualties

  • @moveitninja Neither. They were betrayed by the Romanticists. That's why the 1812 overture includes cannons as an orchestral instrument - to allow the romantics to shell opposing opera houses during performances.

jk, although the 1812 overture really is scored to include cannon shots.

  • just det. Salva nos.

  • We do no one any favours by pretending all things are equal - by faith false religion must be rejected. Its not arrogance or ignorance but honest care - The Church wants no one to go to hell, and its the job of every Christian to pray and teach so people may avoid the terrible fate.

  • when i wonder how people can start wars over religions that proclaim to be the epitomy of peace and love, i just look at youtube comments and it brings me back to reality.

judging by the comments on most music videos, i'm surprised no one has started an official war against people with different tastes in music too.

  • @moveitninja I couldn't agree more...

  • @moveitninja You mean you've never heard of the Baroque/Classical war of 1812!?

  • @moveitninja Atheists take a part in the hate too, it's just human behavior. But this behavior can eliminated ? How? Control yourselves, be selfless and obey the divine laws.

  • @moveitninja They have!

  • @memorarenz Be careful about disresepecting other religions. Arrogance is a dark road to walk and can taint anyone, Christian or no.

  • im not sure what everyones argueing about. personally i dont care which religion came first and i dont care if paganism did start from 1960's hippiness. i believe in it and it rings true for me. and if you cant understand that, then thats fine but dont start hating on what i or anybody elses beliefs are. i dont hate on you because your christian. cant we all just listen to the song?

  • @MsApollosMuse Again: It did because it was at the core of creation, and paganism echoed the truth at the core of creation - so yes clearly the idea of trinity was before the birth of Christ because it had 'been' for all of time.

  • I have, but being he is preChrist also his understanding of virtue is limited by his access to divine grace.

  • @memorarenz So what makes Christianity truly virtuous when compared to an older definition of virtue? Since when does Christianity have to be the be all, end all?

  • @ChaosIgnition Again its about connection to full humanity and redemption through Christ. Pre Christian virtue lacked a true connection with the divine - so while something may appear to have virtue it lacks. Only via the incarnation could man even attempt to obtain full goodness. Virtue Pre Christ is a shadow of what it would be. In short - PreChrist is humanity waiting in darkness.

  • Paganism can only have limited virtue due to the fact it lacks the trinity. True full virtue can only come via the incarnation - mankind simply lacked the ability to fullfill true virtue before the incarnation due to the fall.

Lack of Christianity = lack of true virtue

  • @memorarenz Please do yourself a favor and read Aristotle. That is, if what you posted is what you truly believe. Forgive me if I misunderstood.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm seeing them live in a cathedral tonight, the atmosphear and accoustics are going to be AMAZING

  • Christianity is older being that God is the first mover, and with him in eternal union is the son and holy Spirit. Thus 'Christianity' is the oldest being its the truth at the core of creation.

Modern paganism is simply 1960's hippyness anyhow, true paganism and its limited virtues was a preparation for Christ.

  • @memorarenz actually Paganism as a religion, not Neo Pagansim, but Paganism isa term given to any non-abrohamic faith and is thereforefar far older than Christianity. I am interested in how you can justify saying that Paganism had limited virtues? You clearly know nothing of Paganism. I suggest reading a little.

  • @Maksimfan The Roman Pagan Emperor Augustus was dismayed at the state of the family during one part of his reign, and he instituted laws to promote "family values". Pagans in Rome belonging to eastern cults especially, ("cult" sharing roots with "culture" and "cultivate") had understandings of sin, baptism and rebirth. Christian morality may be unique in many respects, but Christians didn't invent "morality" or "virtue". Their faith blossomed on much that had come before.

  • @memorarenz if you believe that Christian God is creator of all things, then surely you will believe He is the first mover. You're not right about the order of religions, both historically and doctrinally. Historically of course Christianity is later than ancient Pagan religions. As for your own doctrines, would Christianity be possible BEFOER incarnation of Christ, which happened in particular period of time (ca. 6 BC - 33 CE)? Remember we speak about RELIGION, not about God himself.

  • @OldWaysFollower Again: a failure for Pagans to understand. Paganism is nothing but the 'mass' that Christianity would arrive to cultivate to true religion....Christianity predates Time, and is the culmination of time.

  • The more viciously you accuse each other the uglier both sides seem. "Salva Nos" means "Save us" a prayer to the divine (God, Goddess, Jesus, whoever) And what are we asking to be saved from? OURSELVES! Hate and prejudice and fighting, it's like a cancer eating us up. We Pagans are older, that doesn't make us better. Christians came later that doesn't make them more evolved. We should live in harmony.

Blessed Be to all of you Christian and Pagan alike

    )O(

  • @Aithne90 Too right we should live equally i myself am a chistian and i think that was good of you to speak that. Well done

  • @Aithne90 Spot On :)

  • @Aithne90

    Well Said!

  • We pagans are NOT older, christianity is. Im pagan and Liberal Catholic. Paganism is new form of worship that works outwards christianity works upwards in forms of bubles and edifeces.

    Rev Dominic

  • @Aithne90 What a refreshingly logical and heartwarming comment! I'm an atheist but I echo the sentiment. Harm Ye None Thee Live in Peace :-) xxxx

  • @Aithne90 At the root of all faiths is an admonition: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The phrasing varies, but it is there. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." Blessings on you, Aithne.

  • @Aithne90 While you are correct in your accretion; the fact is the song is a hymn/prayer to the Ever Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity when He came to earth incarnate as Man, Jesus Christ. The literal translation of the Latin into English shows this if one is aware of the variety of titles Mary is given. Peace to you as well.

  • People stop arguing, shut up, and enjoy this beautiful song!!

(Pagan is older than Christianity, though.)

  • salva nos från dessa felatrix .

  • I learn to look for god in nature, just like pagans did, that does not conflict with my believing in christ or other christian aspects of religion

  • The pagan cults have aspects of Christianity because that was God's design by natural law. Paganism is the faith that was waiting for the Church to save and reshape it.

  • @memorarenz that would stand if christianity was real sadly for you it isnt

pagan gods existed since mankind had the need to believe in something since 60-80.000 years ago christianity is a recent invention only 2000 years.

  • Die.

you and your god can suck the sun's existence since it was here BILLIONS of years before you and your Christianity started massacring people for believing in it.

There's one thing your god doesn't have. Experience bitch. Pagans were here first, go fuck yourself and pay for the lives you've destroyed and are still in the process of destroying :)

  • @lichtbroeder Christianity did not evolve in a vacuum - that's what I'm trying to say :) It grew out of existing cults. It's simply that, since most of those cults began before the advent of Christianity, it would be more accurate to say that Christianity borrowed many of its traditions from the pagan religions, rather than the other way around.

  • @aliasofagirl It is Judiasm for Gentiles

  • Wow, as soon as these angels started to sing i weeped, the tingles are going straight through my arms, chakras and my head. So beautiful. )O(

  • Primitive paganism was a religion waiting for Christi, hence why in some ways paganism seems to ape Christianity. It was all part of Gods grand design.

Mary Queen of Nations, Pray for us.

  • @memorarenz

Since the pagan religions almost all came before the advent of Christianity, it would be more true to say that Christianity imitates paganism in many ways, instead of the other way around. In fact, many elements of the Christian faith were taken from pagan traditions to ease the transition from the Pagan Roman religion to old Christianity during the time of Constantine.

  • @aliasofagirl Christianity is pre-figured in paganism, so rather than Christianity being like paganism,Paganism was the preparation for Christianity. Thus all that seems to be aped by Christianity, is actually the natural flow of Gods plan.

And those things of paganism that were evil was satans power to confuse truth. In short paganism is Christianity is waiting.

  • @aliasofagirl Some elements may have been intentionally taken, but I believe that others simply resonated because their implicit truths or themes are universal. In ancient Rome, eastern religions that entered the empire like the cults of Cybele, Isis, Mithras, etc., attracted many converts. Unlike the dry Roman religion proper, they offered ecstasy, purification, communion with Deity, a promise of "heaven", etc. Christianity didn't evolve in a vacuum. Though unique, it was also of its age.

  • @aliasofagirl I was just about to write exactly the same thing when I saw this comment :)

  • @aliasofagirl its not about what is oldest, it is about what is right. I am Christian, and yet I am deeply involved in tarot and astrology. Whatever is RIGHT, and whatever is right to you.

  • @snakedemon11 Thats not a sensible posistion. Clearly two contary things cannot both be true!

  • @memorarenz Us catholics used to use astrology all the time. then as people became less spiritual (im serious, u can be religious yet not spiritual), catholics stopped using it. i have studied astrology all my life and found it just as true as my catholic faith. so i allow both into my life.

  • @snakedemon11 Then you're an apostate. Both cannot be right. Read your catechism!

  • VERY well said !

  • Actually paganism isnt old and so no it is the other way around. / AND Im a pagan also Liberal Catholic.

  • I do believe nd have a devotion to Our Lady. My "wtf" is more out of frustration than anger - Being a Christian doesnt mean I dont lose my temper :P

Christians are human too! We are sinners with a future!

  • This Song is named in the Credits of Johannes Cabal - The Necromancer.

  • You, mother lacking an equal didst bear Save us, star of the sea The manna of heaven And the bread of angels Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven O parent without spouse Save us, star of the sea And not defiled by the birth Thou didst bear the holy of holies Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven
  • Christian. Anthem of the Virgin Mary Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven Who while the pure didst bear God Save us, star of the sea And art signalled in the burning bush Not knowing man as a partner Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven O virgin most unique Save us, star of the sea Be through you our salvation O Queen of heaven Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven
  • This is random.... It is cool though... Is it Wiccan or Christian or what?

  • @geeksXwillXrule Christian I believe; they do a lot of Eve and Adam songs.

  • "Goddess" wtf? Its an anthem to Our Lady - Fountain of grace and Coredemtrix.

Certain aspects of paganism preconfigured Christianity - laying the path so that the true word of God could bring salvation to those in darkness. God used the hethan faiths to lay the way for redemption

  • @memorarenz Ummmm, don't you see a contradiction in prefacing your comment about Our Lady with "wtf"? You speak like a man of faith, so it seems odd.

  • @memorarenz p.s. I wasn't being judgmental: I see obscenities used in positive comments on You Tube about religion, and even once saw an obscenity laced comment left for a Christmas carol. I don't get it.

  • A beautiful tribute to the Goddess.

  • Haunting and beautiful . . .

  • beautiful song!

  • I love the harmony their voices create, and the purity of the sound. Art has the power to move us regardless of our spiritual path. True art, like this song, inspires us. I love the Baebes. <3

  • Yes ....save us Mother Goddess, from the fucking christians.

  • @1488bill No shit ! And the mslims too!

  • @antonthegreatone Amen brother, amen. Save us and keep us away from all Middle Eastern brainwashed metaphysics. This fundamentalist, dogmatic mind rape is responsible for all the terror and all the trouble we're in thus far. They all worship the same impotent Jewish God no matter what name they call him:Allah,Jehovah,or Yahweh. The one and same who practiced genocide with impunity in the Old Testament....down to the very last woman and child.

  • @1488bill I see religion as the invention of Man. But that spirituality is a very real concep,It is one's connection with all living things seen and unseen. It is telepathic. Many wars and atrocities have been commited by man using religion as a reason. To me religions are social/political organizations used to controll people with fear.

  • Because im the only one who can play the piano in my class at school i have to learn this in 2 days !!!!!!

    From gabby aged: 3

p.s please watch my videos, there awesome!!

  • Oh, I love this song so much! Raise your drinks and cheer for the Baebes!

  • @onotuoedual every Wiccan should know the orgin and meaning of the pentacle, and as you said, their ignorance reflects from their effort to study. But not all are that like that. <3 And @v4mpiv4mpi I too would like to think they are singibg of the goddess but keep in mind the verse "et per rubum signaris" which translates "and art signalled in the burning bush" which refers to the judiac religions, but Mary is also the archetypal "Great Mother".

  • @Enzo012, The Great Mother concept was taken ( taken is more suitable than stolen) from old pagan traditions. Wicca itself has revived these old ways and made it suitable for the modern age.

  • @Enzo012, Just like you said The Great Mother (which pertains to many goddesses) was taken from old pagan religions and happens to be included in Wicca. The Wiccan spirituality does revere the moon as a form of divine feminine power (Maiden, Mother, and Crone) but they also look at all of nature as a source of her being. She is believed the mother of all and has many names.

  • it speaks of the star of the sea... 'stella maris..'

  • I think this song deals with "Mother Earth" ..somehow the Wiccans' Godness.

  • @V4MpIV4MpI The Great Mother is NOT wiccan. This 'religion' stole all elements of the Old Paganism and insists calling it 'wiccan'.

  • yes yes I know :P but she is the Wiccan's Godness too ^^ Btw I don't think they stole the old paganism's elements.. it's just a new "way" O.o ..The religion is too personal to say what it really is.. sorry, my english isn't so good :P

  • @V4MpIV4MpI ok,it's just a new way. but everytime i meet someone that is wiccan, he(or her) looks at the pentagram on my neck and say "oh a wiccan sister!" and i say " no, im not wiccan" "of course you are, youre using a pentagram!"

nowdays, or you are wiccan, or you like metal. . but this " new way " makes people blind, make people stop searching. i call myself pagan not because of a english man in the 40's that create a religion, but because i search from celtic to indian, egypt to china.

  • @onotuoedaul Yes, there is ignorance among Wiccans, but blindness is the way one chooses to walk a path, not the path itself. Wicca is path of self knowledge.

I don't think members of traditional religions like to be called "pagan", because that was a derogative term used by romans to refer to the "ignorant, superstious" people that lived outside cities. NEO paganism is a new way (one you say you follow) because we reinterpret beliefs with our modern minds. No one really follows the old ways.

  • @onotuoedaul I say all this with respect, I don't want you to thik I am being rude. I do think that as a Wiccan, I must educate my own community in actual history (in many subjects like the pentacle itself) and stay away from the fluffiness. That is the worst enemy of our path. A true Wiccan is aware that we are a religion of reinterpretation, not reconstruction. We are crafters of own own future as a religion. We must study, learn and evolve.

  • @DarkwaveMistress i know what being a wiccan means. and i know also that no one is able to follow the old ways. But my 'pagan side', lets say, comes from inside. and that is eternal. I love being called pagan. this word does not mean ignorant or superstious people that lived outside. its only who lived outside. it means, basicly, foreign.

  • @onotuoedaul I agree when you say it comes from the inside. In the end, I am also a pagan, I just decided to follow a certain path. What I mean is that we are crafting a new meaning for the word and we can't expect everyone to change their meaning right away.

  • @onotuoedaul

That is why Wicca is a type of Neo-Paganism.

  • @V4MpIV4MpI I thought the Wicca Godess was more something to do with the moon.

  • the word Nos in welsh is litlery Night.

  • In Latin it's "Us" or "We".

  • The secular state has itself incorporated many Christian aspects unto itself; indeed, usurping the authority that only the one true universal Church may bind in Christ's name.

  • Now how did Mary get the name Star of the sea? Any one know?

  • Doesn't the Hebrew name Maryam (which is the origin of Mary) mean Star of the sea? So it just would be the meaning of Mary's name, nothing more.

  • My bet would be that it's because Mary is supposed to be for Christians what a star is (or at least used to be) for sailors - a guide showing the way.

  • No disrespect to Christians, but it's interesting to note that many of the Virgin Mary's titles like "Star of the Sea", "Queen of Heaven" and "Mother of God" were previously given to Pagan goddesses. The new religion borrowed elements from the old and adapted them. For some early Christians, their faith wasn't an enemy of the Pagan world, but the logical conclusion to it or fulfillment of it. Others, sadly, felt otherwise and destroyed much.

  • I saw on CBC "The Pagan Christ" in which Tom Harpur, an Anglican priest, has a theory that Jesus was based on Horus because of the numerous similarities in there stories. He wrote about it in his book of the same name.

  • The title's star of sea and queen of heaven are not used in Greek The title Mother of God and the Greek Theotokos- the one who gave birth or bore God- come from incarnational theology. As Christ is viewed as unitingthe human and devine natures. You are however right in the fact early Christians did view Christianity as a fulfillment of all.

  • Quite true, however, the others, as you call them, were not the countless subscribers to religion or the vast majority of Christians but, in fact, the church which later developed. As another organization which was able to exert control and reap its rewards, anything that would confront its power based, tied in with its official doctrine, was to be met with suppression. As rebels and insurgents are to established governments, the pagans were to the christian church, if not the christian people.

  • you quite right. very Thomisn of you

  • That's exactly how I see things too. No disrespect to Pagans either, but as you noted, for many, Christianity was the fulfillment of Paganity : that's why I have doubts about many of today's pagan revival experiment. The faiths of yesterday are dead or diying, whether christian or pagan, the Gods of tomorrow are to be (re)born. We are reap for the comeback of the Titans.

  • @lichtbroeder as a devout christian, i couldnt agree more, yes most of our christian tradition is pagan in roots. I however, try not to as the Catholics do, honor saints as only Yhwh (god) deserves. But yes, to convert the old pagans, the church let most old traditions stay in the guise of christian festivities.

  • @soundwave000

I think it strange that you call yourself a devout Christian(meaning you must adhere to Scripture) and yet you do not honor Mary or the Saints. The Bible tells Christians to not only honor Mary but also the Saints.

Of course, you most likely also adhere to Sola Scriptura. That would explain why you wouldn't follow what Scripture truly says, only what you think it says.

  • @UnusFides As god says, thy shall have no other idols in front of me, so although i may appreciate Maria mater, i dont "honor" her for she was mortal, as for the saints, only the trinity is holy, thus is the only thing to be honored.

  • @soundwave000

Wow, so you don't "honor" your father and mother, who are mortal? Prayer, honor, and worship are all different things.

  • @LordDreagon This was my response, accidentally posted from a family members account.

  • @LordDreagon I obey my parents, I dont worship them.

  • @soundwave000

But, do you, specifically, "honor" them, as the Bible tells you to. I remember you saying you didn't honor Mary because, for one, she is mortal. Well your parents are mortals as well, I assume; yet if you hold to the same principle you cannot honor them. But, again, if you do not honor them you do not obey Scripture.

  • @lichtbroeder

That is true. And many of the demi-gods (( lesser gods )) where turned into saints. Saint Brigid and the Goddess Brigid for example.

    )0( Blessed be

  • @sorcress18 some major Deities were turned into Saints, too, eg. Slavic God of thunder and storm, Perun was turned into St. Elijah (Eastern Orthodox Saint, corresponding to the prophet Elijah), while His major opponent Veles was turned into St. Vlas (in the West Slavic countries, in turn, The Devil took some of His responsibilities).

  • @OldWaysFollower

I know, but honestly I believe we are all worshiping the same God/dess in just a different aspects. ^^

And to be honest, I don't think Hell would even torture the souls of the sinful because the Devil wants to go against God, so I think He would appraise you for sinning instead of punishing you. <.<

But, who cares?, I don't believe in Hell. ^^"

  • @lichtbroeder Yep...the Virgin Mary´s cult is practically an adaptation from the pagan cults....like a reminiscence..

  • @WolfGris93 I agree, but I also believe that early Christians didn't necessarily "steal" from Pagan faiths. They borrowed, as Christianity didn't evolve in vacuum. Pagans (especially from eastern cults that came into Rome) had baptism, honored celibate clergy, had eucharistic meals, deities born of virgins, etc., and even had concepts of a "oneness" aspect of the divine. None of these contradicted the actual teachings of Christ, and it was natural that they continued in Christian guise.

  • @lichtbroeder Probably the Christians just adopted the cult, by their own way XD

  • @lichtbroeder. Well actually, in order to end Paganism, the Church replaced thier God's with Saints who had similar charachteristics. (e.g. looking after workmen, agriculture etc.) The Romans had done the same thing many years before replacing the Celtic Gods of early Britons with thier own. It makes converting them much easier. The only place where the Christianity struggled to achives this was in Russia. As many Russians and other Slavs converted but still looked to thier GOds to protect them.

  • @juzt156

I think you're forgetting Charlemagne's destruction of Irminsul, along with the assassination of the majority of Germanic chieftains; Viking raids against Christian targets after attempts were made to impose the religion upon the entirety of Norway and Denmark; Irish absorption of Christianity while maintaining their original religious principles.

Also, Scandinavia was Gnostic, rather than "Catholic".

  • @TheDarkflags. You are correct of cource. I did not mention, the Germanic history because unfortunatly I know less about it than I would like. I've always been more intrested in slavic history.

  • @lichtbroeder it what is know as "baptizing" the pagan roots that held eternal truth in preparation for the Word's Incarnation

  • @lichtbroeder Indeed, does anyone think the christmas tree is christian? It's a germanic midwinter thing. They burned those trees during the longest nights. That's also where probably the candles in the christmas trees come from....

  • @Kneepkid I once heard a story that said that the old germanic people would bring these trees indoors and light candles in the branches to keep the woodland spirits warm on the cold winter nights :)

  • @aliasofagirl Then I think you are right. Maybe they did it both, but was the ritual you describe taken over. Somehow it comforts me to hear the germanic people weren't thinking solely about themselves and other humans but also took care of spirits =)

  • @lichtbroeder also, most of the names given to Jesus were preiously used for Horus and others

  • @lichtbroeder- Yes but if u take note of the lyrics, u can tell it's Mary. O parens expers maris Salva nos, stella maris Partu non violaris Paris sanctum sanctorum Salva nos, stella maris Et regina celorum Translation: O parent lacking a male Save us, star of the sea And not defiled by the birth Didst bear the holy of holies Save us, star of the sea And queen of heaven In other words, the mother was a virgin. If u remember correctly, the goddess did not perform a virgin birth.
  • this song is so beautiful... i play it when i do meditation
