Why did there have to be talking over the beginning? And why does the sound have to be so compressed? A pity because it sounds like a good performance.
i have dance recitals here every year and it's one of the things i love about the merrill. just walking by these pipes is intimidating. it's awesome to finally hear them being played, even if not in person
Was at the `closing concert' before the hall renovations, then at the `opening concert' with Hector. Dave and crew had worked SO hard to get it ready! The Magnaton comes from an Austin we presently take care of (O:
Who is taking care of this organ now since Foucher has left ?
Mr. Cornils, that was absolutely wonderful. I enjoy going to your concerts and the many concerts during the summer. I would recommend to every one to hear that organ. Michael Cuva, Freeport Maine
@greattrompette EVERYONE who loves music, and organs should experience the Kotzschmar organ at least once, preferably more than once in their lifetime. I had the opportunity to play it about a year ago...an experience I won't soon forget! I have never seen or heard anything like it anywhere. It's a pedigreed, historic instrument of epic proportions! Being in Merrill Auditorium, and seeing, playing and hearing that organ, makes you appreciate all the great music that has been made in that room.

The original organs of the period when this piece was written, would NOT be able to handle this tempo, or rather the hands could not handle the weight of the tracker keys coupled to play it this fast. - Aside from that, and ignoring the composer's registration changes, nice organ.
@musicalwatch - I don't know why you've had so many negative votes, even with Barker machines you couldn't play it this fast on a Cavaillé-Coll. I do prefer it on the slow side. Mind you, I can't understand why people play it, it's pretty third-rate.

You can't play that movement that fast, it loses its feeling! it's like you're turning it into carnival music! It SUCKS! The brass band arrangement is way better anyway!
