Hi Everyone, My new youtube page is: Lonnie Gordon1 and also on facebook Lonnie Gordon The official facebook fan club. I will be answering all question. Looking forward in hearing from you. Love, Lonnie Gordon
Hi Guys, you contact Lonnie vis facebook.. on her facebook page keyword: Lonnie Gordon Facebook fanclub.. Theres news and gossip of Lonnies tour just finished in th UK.. New dates for early next year appear there also.
I saw her perform this song (and "I Will Survive") in the early 90's in San Jose (and it was fierce). Just heard it played at a gay circuit party this weekend. She looks the same now as back then.
The Donna Summer follow-up to "another place in time" album which was never recorded and whose songs had to be finally given to Lonnie Gordon. I like lonnie but I was expecting this follow-up back in 1990 !!! Donna ! Why? I love you !
@takeittookit In 1991 I used to work out at a gym in Boston that was in an old brick factory building. They played the radio for music, except when aerobics classes were going on and then they would pipe in the aerobics music into the entire gym. I heard this song many times because of that and couldn't get enough! Then I started hearing it in the clubs. It is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time, across any and all genres. And this video is great--Lonnie looks fierce as hell!
Wow. Awesome. 20 years on from when we heard this song first and she sounds better than ever. Stronger vocal and the mix is cleaner and more powerful with less tambourine. Is it very so slightly slower? Reminds me of the opening of Radio 1 Roadshows...
Lonnie !! Thats my song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Still young ...for ever!! I just listen her when i was 16...im 36!! And that devil women still all over again!!! hahahha LOVE U!!!
Lonnie is a wonderful person. She lived with me for a few weeks, which changed my life. I had the honour of writiing two songs for her, "Open" is about her and "Fly Girl" was us having great fun. Wonderful memories recording in my bedroom. A very special time with a very special woman! Love you Lonnie!
It's always happenin' all over again! Never ends. Love you Lonnie...met you in DC...Pride '97. Loved you then, love you now...........bbbbbbelieve me.... :o)
when I was young I cut my hair and then dyed it blond,,, after watching this video,,. Started Clubbing and living my life.. It was the start of ME... Thank you Lonnie XOXO
You can contact Lonnie via linking to us, or via Lonnies "LIVE" facebook page. The Lonnie Gordon Fanclub, which Lonnie regularly answers questions, and theres gossip of what Lonnie is doing now.
She is so mesmorizingly beautiful. There are no words. I'm so glad the record company made her change that "drag queen" look in the original UK video. OMFG that was horrible. This is MY Lonnie: sleek, blonde, gorgeous and chicly modern! Timeless. You go girl!
Donna fought with Atlantic over releasing it here as the follow up to This Time I Know It's For Real (Which Atlantic wanted to do because I Don't Want To Get Hurt Shot right up to no. 1 in Europe.)
If she disliked I Don't Want To Get Hurt how could she chose to record it and include it on the album over the incredible "Happening All Over Again?" I'd love to ask her lol!
I really liked I Don't Want To Get Hurt and it was a huge hit for Donna in Europe and the clubs here in the states. I have loved Happening All Over Again and If I have To Stand Alone from the first time I heard them. What I don't understand is knowing how much Donna hated I Don't Want To Get Hurt (It's to bubble gum, Donna said.)
You are right all 100% correct that this would have been a big hit for Donna Summer and no doubt would have become another Donna "CLASSIC"! I just read on line yesterday that this song was written for Donna Summer I believe to be included on Another Place & Time.
This song was originally written for Donna Summer, and if she'd recorded it in 1990, it would've been a Top 10 hit in the US too. Not that Lonnie's version didn't deserve to be a US pop hit, it's just that Donna's bigger name would've helped it score in the US.
dickhead if you hink you can do betta than get on and show us lonnie, a legend songs can b fluffy but at least there danceable unlike rap crap yo..........
It's only "gay" if you think you know Lonnie Gordon, your her personal male Sunday lunch tea friend who wears pink fluffy things and says "o I know, I know, o I know" to Lonnie when you hear this. Or if you imagine you're like this. Otherwise, & if you don't know Lonnie G., it's as detatched as any other song. That's what they do at universities now - "sexuality" & subjectivity. It's you.
... There is something a bit fishy with this type of song though. Are songs like this (erm, relevantly similar for my thesis) all a set up for pink fluffy males who think they know Lonnie G. in a Sunday lunch tea way?
so what?Hundreds of poeple,(boys & girls) worldwide were and still are dancing to it everytime it is played on a party or in a club,so...like it or not,it's a smash hit,not to mention not everybody is into rap or other so called new funk you know.
... <<< more from last comment. I don't mean 'what a dichotomy', it was so great. It wasn't like that. But if you look through a lot of their songs there is something detatched and artistic about the creations. Another S.A.W. dichotomy - the most money from the most recordings, combined with, well, isn't it odd, some reason in an artistic sense. Maybe that was mostly this question asked in understatement: "isn't it a little odd that they've chosen not to do the best for these artists?"
Ock, this is real good. The original was brilliant, the best of S.A.W., and when they were at their best they were great. I think it's funny - they could be brilliant at the turn of a hand, but their usual, popular, chart topping stuff was kind of artistic for them in one way anyway. In others they knew it was far from the best they could do. They knew it was this artisitic / unartistic dichotomy. What a dichotomy.
Looking at the original S.A.W. track, (Top of The Pops- in YouTube), no, no that's not really brilliant. It is a great song, at the right time, with an amazing sound system, very good; but so short of what it could be. It's so short of this version. This is human soul music. The U.S. version is in YouTube, and better than the British version, but did poorly in U.S. A few good mixes too.
yet another totally unusefull remix:the original sounds just so much better,it is perfect,no remix ever could make it sound that strong. Why doesn't she work back with Stock/Aitken/Waterman who made all her greatest and most sold tracks?
@fgthman / I LOVE THIS SONG! First heard it in 1991 and can never hear it too much. Even though it's about a two-timing-no-good-heart-breaking scoundrel, it lifts my spirits whenever I hear it because the music is so unabashedly upbeat. Pair this with "That's What Love Can Do" by Boy Krazy and you have two slices of heaven, Stock/Aitken/Waterman-style.
OMG. Lonnie We Love you in Chicago girl. Remember Vortex night Club. I was 15 with a an ID. All my gay friends were living for this girl back in the 90's. Brings back good memories. Tank you for posting!
My lover and I got to meet her after a concert at the Village Station in Dallas Texas. I had to buy a round of drinks for my friends because I swore SHE was a he in very good makeup. I walked up to her and introduced myself to her and her manager. She was very pleasant and friendly when I introduced her to my lover. To this day I still have the card with her lip prints and her autograph. This had to be 1991 or 1992.
Which cd is this version from Can anybodt tell me Thanks , I cant get enough of this song , i even added it to my myspace page but i cant fine this version anywhere ...
Lonnie Is a truly fantastic Diva She was great at OmO Generations at Astoria London ,Last Friday ,and I was Lucky enough to be one of her Backing dancers for this number.
I was at this video shoot. Good times. Great memories. Lonnie is fierce. She should have been a huge star in the US. Hard to believe that was 15 years ago - this video/mix was made in 1993.

Tell me about it! I was working as go/go boy in this huge gay arena called Backstreets in Atlanta,Ga. She came out several times and performed ,leaving the crowd in a pool of sweat from the dance! Thanks for the best memories!!!!! m
damn , this song banged out loud in the gay clubs and everybody straight and gay danced strong and got lost in this song, it still has the same power as before, love this song !!!
Are you deaf or something. Everything about this version is exactly the same as the original. Even speeds the same and so is the key is the same as the original.
Not sure about her new look although I don't mind it to be honest. This remix is more bassy than the original but apart from that it sounds the same, still a great song though for sure.
years go by,and Lonnie's tracks just keep on being the best, such a fantastic voice, there's no regret, exept her hair! She looked much beter with long&black hair

Absolutely fabulous. What a great look for her. ...Remembering the original from the early 90's and dancing to this.

Not sure about her new look although I don't mind it to be honest. This remix is more bassy than the original but apart from that it sounds the same, still a great song though for sure.

I don't know why this is labeled 2007 cuz it looks and sounds just the original from the early 90's. This song is such a blast to dance to.

I agree, this doesn't look or sound any different than the version I first remember hearing in the early 90s. This was always a favorite of mine.
