Can't think of a better way to to end the film than a recreation of the recording of their best song. I wish I could find footage of the actual recording of LA Woman. If any exists.
Sadly, I had believed this movie was a biography, but it was rather a Doors biograophy seen through the eyes of director Oliver Stone. Even still, I enjoyed it being that it came about the decade i was born into. This movie actually led me to become a Doors fan. and i love this ending. What better way to end a movie with their best song ever written.
That was a pretty sad movie, but it wasn't the real Jim Morrison. Jim was more poetic, and half of the movie was wrong. He never met Pam like that near the beginning, he met her after one of his shows when she was walking by. A lot of other stuff is messed up to..its a good movie though...just not correct
i agree about stone, hes made some fantastic films, JFK being one of my fav films, i just think myself, i expected a lot more from him, i think the build to this film, promised so much more than it delivered, maybe the 20th anniversary carried it along , i rem seeing it the first night, and felt a little let down, but youre right , it shouldnt take it away the fact Oliver Stone is a great director..
good movie, good acting, good story - but as far as accuracy and objective truth goes, this one bites the ever-bitten bag - stone should stop fantasizing and give us some real shit straight up (i know jim would agree)
@lastrockgod this IS a great movie, but only that. it's not at all a bio the way he left out parts of the history of the band, and how he totally exagerated the parts that he left in. plus, in some scenes, he just flat made stuff up. the only part that he 100% got right was the way val kilmer looked exactly like Jim
i agree this film never gave jim or the doors the credit they deserved, it was a carve up..from start to finish, glad im not the only one to think so,
i like a couple of oliver stone films,platoon,salvador,.....but this film is a pile of shit!!! cringeville!!!.........the bloke knows nothing about the doors!!!!!!!!!!!
MR. MOJO RISIN'! :) I was watching this on HBO this morning. And I do like the biopic. Even though it is mad inaccurate. But I am a fan of The Doors (I bought the greatest hits album, "Legacy: The Absolute Best Of The Doors" back in '05), and Jim was the man. But, this film wasn't all that bad--the women, ALL of the women, extras and all, were hot as hell in this flick. They did a good job with casting the females. Meg Ryan was great!
The really sad thing is he died because of Odi'ing on H as oposed to Coke. We would have had Jim for more years if his skaggy wife wasn't hooked on herion.
What better way to end the movie. To show Morrison as the Poet Crooner belting out one of their infamous songs in the bathroom in his last weeks of life. Overall I didnt like that Oliver Stone made Jim Morrison look an asshole. But I enjoyed the movie overall and got to listen to lots of great music!
Kilmer did ALL his own singing for the film. He sent a tape of himself singing several Doors songs in to Stone and blew away Oliver and the surviving members, that is how he got the part. This has been verified by Kilmer, Stone, Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore in numerous interviews
Love this scene! I always imagine Morrison on the toilet when I hear this song :-P

I'm still trying to figure out why Oliver Stone (or the Music Editor) cut out six seconds near the end of the song.

i love this movie!!!!
and someone who knows stone's movie should know that he would never made a normal biopic...^^
he just puts his own stuff into it and i think its great,... and val kilmer did an impressive job in this...!!!

val Kilmer sings this!!!!!!!!
joeycri 2 years ago
actually, no he doesn't. he does sing a lot of the songs in the film, but this version of LA WOMAN is james douglas himself.
rick3001 2 years ago 2
Val sings alot of songs himself in this movie.
But people that say Val sang L.A. Woman here are wrong.
This is Jim 100%
Great movie all in all, But in some parts jim kind of got painted of like some weirdo phsycho. While he had a nice gentle sane side to.

Hendrix was killed, drowned in vine.....
... his manager or something made it happen, with orders from secret service..
.. he probably shouldn`t support black panthers, ( he did that ), ( because he had to ) didn`t have a way out, no choice, they torn him apart..
Jimmy was a good man..
