Yes! I've said it once and I'll say it again... Gwen's voice was able to convey her feeling without her having to over-sing her lyrics. Sometimes all a song needs is someone to sing it - not scream, wretch, add every octave imaginable, or elongate every note sung. I typically don't like ballads, but Rose Royce is the exception because of the smooth sophisticated delivery of Gwen's vocals. Only one RR remake have I liked ( a version of Wishing On A Star), everything else I prefer RR's originals

the difference between this version and mary version is the difference between music then and now in general. Gwen sang this with passion and you could hear the pain in her voice. Mary sounded like, just as many of todays artist, like she just wanted a pay check.
