this is still hard for me...I can french braid and plait all day but when it comes to cornrows something goes wrong...they're always loose and sloppy no matter how tight my grip is and how close my head is to my scalp. My arms get tired really fast and hurt so i give up.
Hey I have a Question...When Braiding your own Hair.. Do you hafta Keep your hands close to your hair??...Cause my Hair is Straight and i Braid my own Hair like this...except im still learning how to Braid my own hair by watching Vids....all the way to the Bakc of my Head...I have No experience with Teachers... Im Self Taught...i've been braiding my own Hair Since I was 13 im 18 now...What are Good Elastics that hold hair longer??
Yes, if its corn-row, or anything that you want to be flattened on your head, then Yes. Walmart has rubber-bands for hair. I don't have a particular brand, but just make sure it matches your hair.
Hope you are doing well. It's all in the parts. If you part them equally, then they will be, or at least look about the same size. As far as knowing that they are equally parted, it's something that you acquire as you plait hair often...it's sort of like a feel you get. Hope that helps :)
iam a puertorican male and i have long straight black hair about 11 inches passed my shoulders and have always wanted to learn how to braid my own hair being that everyone just charges a fortune to do it..........any suggestions guys??
You have the same kind of head that I have. Lol. the only differnce is i have straight and it doesn't get nappy until a month later I hate to leave my hair out all the time. Since I don't know any styles, I only leave it out or put it in a bun. I hope to see the next video you because I am finally understanding the concept of picking up the hair.
Can you show a video where you can angle your head when you do sides, that can be a starting problem because i am learning how to braid. So I can put in extensions instead of spending so much money all the itme
Thanks for watching this video, and appreciating it's content dear. It means much.
As far as the parting, I think it takes practice, honestly. I say this because there isn't really any technique, except that I have been doing my hair for many years, so that may be why it looks that straight. Another thing may be that you have to ensure a firm on the section of hair that you are parting from, so that it helps the parting and define it better.
aww, u kno wuts funny i've actually been braidin since i was 8 yrs old. now im 23. i luv braidin but its really easy. just try and keep tryin the u will be at perfection like others. dont give up, i promise u can do it.
Thanks for your comment. Braiding is actually not that difficult, and I believe that you can learn it once you see it done in a more detailed format. I am thinking about re-visiting my tuturial to show it clearer so that my fingers, and exactly what I am doing with them as I braid, is more visible.
If I post the video, I will surely let you know. Take care:)
u make it look easy

I have trouble with the back. ;_; My hair is only about 4 inches long, is that too short?
PrinceShion 2 years ago
Hi PrinceShion,
If you can pick it up, it's really not short. Four inches is actually long enough.
Regards :))
