I just love the Thatcher Memorial Library - a massive building-vault, complete with librarians and security guards - built to only house Thatcher's diary. And the librarian know verbatim the contents of every page of the diary. A truly inspiring piece of surrealism.
eugene680: The elder Kanes place Charles in the care of Mr. Thatcher for two reasons; primarily, to provide him with the ability to travel the country seeking out the very best in education and socialization (which they cannot provide him from a secluded boarding house in Colorado). Secondly, as Mrs. Kane indicates at the end of that scene, she wants to send him somewhere where Mr. Kane "can't get to him" to give him a "thrashing". She sends him away to protect him from his abusive father...
every other camera angle in this is inspiring and is still used today. For example, how the camera goes over the roof and through the glass. Truly a classic.
The librarian needs a boy friend..

I love how the sound is off one frame. reminds me of the vhs version.

Why does Kane have to live with Mr. Thatcher just because the family is suddenly wealthy? That's something I don't understand.

@Slimmatic25 you can tell that it is just ONE frame off? wow. :)

@PuckettJp2 You do realize that pitch refers to tone and not synchronicity, right?
