I would have left it alone at first too, but after seeing how it so desperately tried to follow you it was obviously very hungry. The sound it was making was not screaming, it is what they use to call their moms. No mom came, so I would have fed it. I could tell you wanted to, too bad your parents were scared of it.

Raccoons, in general are friendly. Why are some of them mean? Well, it takes the stupidity of mankind to tease, poke, prod, and in all sense of the word, PROVOKE these animals into action. Then these people wonder why raccoons are "wild animals".

An animal that has great intelligence and sophistication, a huge capacity to learn, and can be a great pet. By contrast, the family in the video is FAR from having intelligence...esp the mom who said the quote above. At least the young girl has SOME sense of compassion by feeling bad when it fell.

@mangosoccer11 Raccoons don't attack people for no reason. And this was a baby with no human experience yet. You were outside with it and being a youngster it followed you. It was asking for assistance. I'm sure the little one survived on it's own though. Raccoons like to play, touch and communicate. Rats do too but are not in the same family - I know that's not what she said...just saying.

Where was the compassion here. This video brought tears to my eyes with shame for our humanity.  This poor baby was lost from mom and needed help.

I took in a baby like this. What happens is it's mother prob. got hit or killed and out of desperation it turns to humans for help. It's people like this who won't even take it to a shelter who have no common sense. And all the woman has to offer is "Don't Open the Door". This baby raccoon was calling his mom.. I know about ther raccoons very well because I 've been feeding the raccoons for 12 years.. My house is close to the wet land. The mama raccoons brought their babies to eat the dog food very day. They are not aggressive animals as some people say They 're afraid of the stray cats I 've been feeding. Ive that baby was alone and nobody took care of him or her by now is dead Best thing to do in this cases its take careof it until find some animal protection place to leave it Sorry but only filmed without doing anything else its kind of painful to me That is my opinion I live in a flat and I took care ones of 3 cats 1 mom and her 2 kitties and also a chamaleon and a bird until a find a better place for them and with that garden would be very easy to help without let it getting inside the house
