  • it came out really good... thanks for your recipe.....

  • wt kind of pressure cooker is this? .how many liter / qt...pls let me know, and this 1 is good for family of five adults?

  • @amitkp80 : this is a 5 liter cooker. I would suggest buying a little bigger one for you - 7 liters maybe...

  • Do I have to use toor daal. My wife mixes several raw dal and stores them so i don't have toor dal separately. I just want to make my own dal so i don't have to fall on her feet when i am craving for dal ! Lol

  • @ebaysingh09 : You can use mixed daals or any one particular one you like. The flavor will still be great :)

    Enjoy!

  • Great recipe! Came out perfect.... One question though, can i use this same recipe for other dals like moong, bengal gram or masoor?

  • @Thomasnigga : Yes, you can. The cooking times may vary a bit. The flavors that different daals provide is amazing :)

    Enjoy!

  • I'm so trying this! btw I've got a request ... I'm a huge Daal fan and I want to know as much as possible about the world of Dals, but whenever I go the indian supermarket I see so many types that I get confused which is used with what and ... and what are their different qualities ... for example .. what is the difference between yellow split peas and chana dal ... and so on ... so i was wondering if you could do a small tutorial/guide video on Daals, it would be really helpful n great!

  • @aishoooo : You are in luck - search for our video on "Stocking your pantry" on our YouTube Channel or on pur website :)

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Awesome, Thank YOU :D

  • Thank you Ms Hetal and Ms. Anuja you ladys have been a life saver for Bachelors like us... :P

  • @AMIT0728 : We have a video on Gujarati Daal. Pl. search for it on our YouTube channel or on our website :)

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

    Thank You !!!

From a hungry single guy .... now able to feed himself.

Shukriya !!! it was tasty and so uncomplicated that i did not goof up.

    Cheers!!

  • @adz6433 : So welcome :)

  • i thought cumin-seeds (jeera) was essential for its flavour,in any daal recipe.

  • @raogopinath : There are so many different recipes of making Daal :) Cumin Seeds are not essential but a lot of North Indian inspired daal recipes do use them. Try this as we have shown and you'll be amazed how wonderful it tastes even without the Cumin Seeds ;)

  • Just love this recipe. Imake one that is similiar that my mother made, and we are from Burma (myanmah). Simple but the best. Thanks.

  • I am greek and I love all your indian recipies! I like the fact that you use chilies. Chilies really helps boost up your metabolism, thus making you lose weight!

  • this is so cool. now i can learn the basic cooking from ur vids.

  • I always think it's so cool when the spices pop!

I love the sound for some reason. :p

  • Thanks! I don't like toor dal, but I love moong dal and this is an excellent recipe for it. Thanks!

  • I would like to see some indian recipes done in crock pots.

  • comfort food!

  • Looks verry tasty! Even though I prefer drier daals, this looks so colorful! <3

  • Yay new blue spoon ! LOL you guys have used the same red spoon for so long. Love your shirts, and sounds like Anuja has a cold, hope you feel better soon! :)

  • Do you still need to add oil if the Toor Daal is the oily kind?

  • wow that was really simple!!!! As a student these videos and recipes help me out a lot!!! Thank you so much ladies!!! =)

  • "word of mouth". sure! I will add you to my facebook page.

  • Love show me the curry , Will recomend to friends and family :) <3

  • @Jiya25041983 I agree with ur comment except for the 1st sentence since looks like many students find these recipes helpful ..But yes I found those recipes in ur comment boring too .. I was disappointed to see the corn chevdo and dal fry because It is festival season and I was expecting some special recipes but I will just wait ...

  • hey ladies..yu can put annotations to promote ppl to click the like button..and increase your views on youtube..which in turn increases your viewership on the site:)

  • I love you!!

  • Adding 1-2 tsps of Ghee in the oil for the tadka really brings out the flavour of the rest of the ingredients and makes a simple dal much more tastier.

  • that loooks good.. whats is it this daal thing? lentil?

    thank you xD

  • @Applebeees

    Dried lentil.

  • who wants 2 learn daal fry every body know how 2 cook this daal fry......try new things u guys r boring now sorry to say that but its true.....daal fry, papad ki subzi, makao no chevdo all r borning recipes who wants 2 learn them plz make something new...

  • @jiya25041983 i definately enjoy watching these, especially since i dont come from an indian heritage.

  • @jiya25041983 U MIGHT KNOW ALL THAT I AM STUDENT AND THSES VIDEOS HAVE HELPED SO MANY GUYS.......................SO CHILL

  • @jiya25041983 well, they're trying to cater to different people with different needs. Not all people have the necessary time to cook flashy gourmet Indian dishes. And they're not boring. You're just difficult to amuse, that's all.

  • Wow! That looks great!

Ummmmm. . . .would you ladies please do more recipes featuring the pressure cooker, explaining how it's used. I've got one, but I don't know anything about it.

  • Charming!

  • thanks a lot for posting. u2 are doing a grt job here. very helpful!

And Anuja ur really hot hot in that dress!! hotter than those red chillies!! :)

  • If one doesnt want to use a pressure cook for the daal, what does one do then?

  • @sapna101 it'll take more time to cook, but you can do it in a regular pan or pot

  • @menyenye like how long?

  • @sapna101 When I cook brown lentils they take about 25-30 mins to cook on high, but it depends on how high your stove goes. I'd say you keep an eye on them the first time you make them, and note the time they took to cook. Then you'll know for next time.

As a side not, split lentils will take less time.

  • @sapna101 No prob :)

  • nice tops ladies
