The Chinese were making this kind of music when, in the West, they were practically banging on sticks. Most people in the West don't realize the awesome achievments of the Chinese civilization! The world's first great civilization! And i say that as an American, a white guy.
@nicodagger Nice to see someone with sense who is actually American. I know you're not all the same, but I've heard such superiority that some are ashamed of even Native Americans. Chinese music is very developed. This from a Caucasoid Brit.
@CopperFangunlimited Butterfly lovers is a pretty easy song actually on both erhu and violin. the notes are really simplistic, just a lot of positions and shifting but thats no biggie
yes in violin isn't very difficult, mayebe bcuz violin have 4 chord to handle, erhu only 2 chords with incerted arc, violin is played in 2 dimensions but erhu is played in 3 dimensions
I have to say that ErHu could do as well as violin and even better on second and third movements, There are some disadvantage on this one, mainly 2 strings versus 4 strings.

yes I can, but no too pretty well :/ butterfly lovers is a difficult piece, but prelude in C minor by Bach is harder, I can't play it.

precisely, start at 6:21, violin is much easier to play the melody, I wish that Xu Ke had change it, after all, this was a violin concerto.
