Really like the way this is done. I've never seen The Sandpiper. I'll see if I can find it somewhere. Even if it wasn't a commercial/critical success, it's clear those two had real chemistry onscreen. All you have to do to test my theory is watch w/o sound scenes between male/female leads from recent movies.
