Hi Gail! I went to (ok, more like RAN to) my nearest Laura Mercier counter and got the Ponytail brush after I watched this viedo last night. But alas, after I gave it a wash it just looked completely different. the pointy bit is not pointy anymore, which sucks big time because it is the only reason I got this brush. The hair just kinda flares out like any other generic e/s brushes now :( But I see from your video your brush is kept in such a marvelous shape. Could you tell me how you do that?
@sofysophia Hi! Oh I always wash my brushes with Clinique brush cleanser and then pinch them so they dry pointy. It's really simple! That brush kept its shape forever. I must admit I have found a new favourite blending brush, the Louise Young tapered blending brush!!! It wasn't out at time of this vid, but has now become the ultimate best blending brush. However the LM is obv an excellent brush and perfect shape. Let me know how you get on? xxxx Thanks!
Not too late to comment, right? ;) Two of your brushes really make up sit up: the soft shadow brush from Prescriptives and the MUD powder brush. Oh, they looks so soft when you ran your fingers through the bristles! PIty about Prescriptives.
Thanks!! yes that Prescriptives brush, as my "First" will always have a place in my heart! The MUD one is spectacular - and I got it for a great price at IMATS so that's extra good!! xxxx I love soft brushes.
Oooh, Gail, you've got to slander my beloved 217! Apart from that, a great video - concise and informative - super! But, I do have the monopoly on the side fringe over the face look, so you can stop that trick right now, thank you! Love Tima x
I keep hankering for the tapered cheek brush, but I know I'll be disappointed, I always am with MAC brushes! Great review, much to think about hmmmm new brushes!
I know you are off the MAC bandwagon haha. Well as you see, elf brushes made it to faves so it's true, brushes needn't cost a fortune. But, ahem, that brush is still lovely -
Thanks hun, for the video. you look like a million bucks. I have that same MAC 22 brush, it's amazing! Glad to hear there the new version isn't an improvement. I never did get the new one.
thanks so much!!! Yes that 22 is fab, soooo much better than the 266. The 22 is stiffer and wider, perfect for eyebrows; the 266 is more flimsy and thin. We got the better deal! xxxx
Hi! I know, you have some delicious brushes in your collection! oh I was going to ask you, have you got the MUD makeup handbook in any US stores or is it just on their website? I thought you would be the person to know... I was thinking of ordering it but want to know if I could shop around first xxxx thanks so much x
as i am typing this i am praying i dont loose power- over 12 inches of snow in one day= and power is flickering now (damn winter) lol--ENOUGHHHHHHHHHH ALL READY,, think god heard that? i hope so! this reminds me i need to clean my brushes! (great vid on brushes) love shelly
Hi Gail, I was just wondering, what brand is the flat top brush with the funny shaped handle? It looks gorgeous, do you know if it's still being sold? as I'd love to get my hands on one. Thanks hun.
Hi it's Sonia Kashuk. It was very hard to get hold of it as it's sold out from Space NK website... it's best to try and swap for it on makeupalley xxxx It is a fab brush though so worth it! thanks
can you please consider taping your vids on another room because the sound is sooo anoying the way it comes out that I just skip your vids but I enjoy watching them... mainly the sound is bad... can you do anything about it ??? thanks and do not take this as an attack just a suggestion... peace !
oh no, gosh I do see what you mean, I never thought of that.... sad! It's only that my bathroom has the only good lighting in my house - everywhere else is too dingy. It's the lesser of 2 evils you see. Hmm I will have a think... sorry... xxxx thanks!
I got the Sonia Kashuk flat top and I have never been so pleased with makeup tool before. My foundation just blends into my face like a dream. It's definately converted me as I was an advocate for finger application of foundation for a long time. Just have a random question...I remember in 1 of your vids ages ago you said that paintpots creased on you. Have you managed to remedy that? I'd like one but have majorly crease-y lids. Do you think that putting UDPP inderneath would help? Thanks Gail.
I agree - it is also a dream with cream blusher, which previously was a disaster zone for me! Using the SK fdtn brush w/ a paint pot really helps the creasing subside, but UDPP is still way more reliable. It seems the secret to limiting pp creasing is applying a thin layer, with a brush. Putting UDPP under does help a bit but I actually think UDPP works better just w/ powders on top xxxx Hope that helps... The only reason I wear a pp is to blank out my veiny mottled lids, they are fab for that.
Every time I watch your videos I want to say this, but don't because I hate asskissers: you have got one of the most interesting faces I've ever seen!
Thanks for the info on the brushes. I'm looking to build up my brush collection...I've been sticking to my handful of old faithfuls for a while now but need to look into new shapes. Wondering if Sonia Kashuk brushes are still on sale at Space NK...hmm....
Haha "interesting" -oh dear, hopefully not in a gruesome way. Thanks! Space NK sold out really quickly unfortunately - in fact I had to get the flat top at standard cost in the end -but it's so worth it, love that one a lot xxxx
I don't think it's stocked in the UK - I just bought it from the EDM usa site, shipping didn't cost too much as I remember, and the brush only worked out to be about a fiver at that time...
it's the second time seeing that stila 20 this week. i really want it now that i've found out it's a doe foot. i always thought it was just a slanted brush since i've never seen it in person.
there is a brush you definitely need to get if you use liquid foundation... its the everyday minerals flat top kabuki brush with the "long handle"... i use it with my nars sheer glow liquid foundation, and it's wonderful. i've never seen anyone use this brush for liquid foundation like me, but it works!
THATS REALLY HORNY

Not at all! In a beautiful and delicate way.
I swear Sonia Kashuk retails for soo much less in the States. Some brushes I've seen have white handles. Maybe it's another line.
It looks divine...I've got to get it.
