  • 28 people on february 26,2012 are white collar men

  • I AM A BLUE COLLAR MAN!

I went to trade school, got out and made $19/hr...then I went to college.

Now I work 2nd shift makin $9.50/hr and never seeing the light of day, I get home after midnight so the internet is my only friend most of the time. At least I can live on the weekends, where my friend and girlfriend wait for me.

  • STYX is comin' to my town. Fuck Yeah

  • Thanks dad <3

  • @357magtoyourface Sing it bro, toilet cleaning is an honourable profession. Tip: Get a shower afterwards - avoids shitty sleep.

    Love,

    Tommy Shaw.

  • Always loved the solo in this song too.

  • Comment removed

  • Timeless music, just as relevant today as in 1978.

  • youtube > popular radio stations (HIPSTERS!)

  • TOMMY SHAW ----- THE VOICE FROM HEAVEN!!!!

  • Lordlove I did that when I was a kid but I'll make an exception for you

  • I was definitely born in the wrong era. I'm fourteen, and I listen to "Classic" Rock. honestly? This is what real rock is! And whatever music the other kids my age are listening to (if you can call it music) is just autotuned shit.

  • I love Rock Music from the 1970's!!!! Hails!!!

  • I never liked styx. I hate Mr roboto and used to beat up people who listened to it but Blue collar man is a great song. Well writen great solo

  • @AngrySaxons You were clearly quite the jackass if you were beating people down about their music tastes.

I like Mr. Roboto, and I'm six foot four and full a'muscle. How about you come try and beat me up. I'll turn you into a Vegemite sandwich.

  • @LordLove I don't care if you are 6'10'' 350 pounds of muscle or beer belly, Mr Roboto still sucks. LOL at boasting about your physical prowess on the internet. Surprised you didn't tell us how big your cock is.

  • @jtc1148 - I think there was some tongue-in-cheek there. Refer to Men at Work's "Land Down Under."

  • @catothewiser It was indeed. Although I almost surprised myself that I didn't mention my genuinely exemplary penis.

    Wiser indeed!

  • @LordLove i love your emotions

you are also right mr roboto is one of the best of styx. you cant be a styx fan without liking mr robot. also you can beat people for their music taste for teen pop singers!

  • @khav11

    What emotions?

Yeah, I totally love Mr. Roboto. I do robot dances to it at work. It's amusing because I job on the automated Hyundai production line and my supervisor can't tell me from the machines. Well, until I yell that I'm Kilroy in his face a few times anyway. Then he knows.

  • I'm listening to this song in 2120. :)

(Don't think anyone will get this reference...)

  • @MyRenaissance1 That makes no sense. Maybe you should read the definition of blue collar.

  • @jude924

You're right, that comment doesn't make any sense... I am guessing that @MyRenaissance1 is thinking of the term white-collar. Anyway @MyRenaissance1 is correct, in that this song rocks!

  • obama needs much more than a Styx song. BO/Soetoro and crew need to be prosecuted for shitting all over the Constitution AS WELL AS that motherfucker Bush and his thugs. aww, let's just rock that Dmin to A#maj (Long Nights...)

  • Someone needs to use it as a campaign theme against obama- Maybe it would wake this country up to start manufacturing here not china

  • @Wayneandgarth122 Yes Tommy Shaw does sing this, but James Young provides backup vocals. Truly an amazing band.

  • IS MY FAVORYTO

    ONCE OF THE BEST

  • i have always listen to styx but..does Tommy Shaw sing this?

  • this song makes me gets me through my work..

  • im 18 and i have to say...i grew up in the wrong music era. i'm glad my dad brought me into the music of rock and roll.

    \m/(._.)\m/ rock on!

  • Comment removed

  • @GeckoGuy31127 I'm 23 and I can't agree with you more! Thank god for dads...

  • @acerrite amen to that! todays music sucks..

  • @GeckoGuy31127 I'm 17, and I COMPLETELY agree with this. I dislike this music era too. My dad got me hooked onto it too. Coincidences, much?

  • @Xeigan lol there's nothing wrong with having good taste for music.

  • @GeckoGuy31127

    YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GeckoGuy31127 I love your dad. Keep on listening to rock and roll !

  • Dare I say it, the most rocking organ music in rock 'n roll?

  • This song was written for the Carter "malaise" of unemployment, but it fits the era of Obamanomics as well.

  • This song is badass.

  • @MegaRageguy Tommy Shaw was bad-ass. He could shred that axe.

  • i need a job

  • @RiffmasterGT49

    Well. Said.

  • RiffmasterGT49-ya got that right! this music since the 80's suck. I would include classic rock from the 60's and 70's too! Great talent, great groups-great ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 27 people dont know what it like to be a blue collar man!!

  • 1981? I was scrapping by Cohogging in Mt Hope Bay making a living at 16. A true Blue Collar Man. Great times and absolutly Love this Song. "You don't understand". Thanks for Posting.

  • 27 people had their Mommies and Daddies pay their way in life.

  • HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE 1 MILLION VIEWS!!!????

  • @wallacegaray Because this song is so epic that everyone already has it on their I-POD.

  • @RiffmasterGT49 Is Screaming Metal Death Trap a good name?

  • There is still lots of good music out there, you just need to look. You won't find it on tv or radio.

  • @RiffmasterGT49 Hell yeah! We'd better not let that shit that passes for music today kill this stuff. THIS is music!! Today's shit isn't! If you agree with this, like this comment!

  • I JUST heard this on the radio. How have I missed this for so long. Awesome!

  • im gonna sing this during my job interview this week lol

  • @ElThrashinFlea so did it work? ^^

  • @anakindu29 no :/ i guess i should try sexy saw man next time :P

  • @ElThrashinFlea I hope that you are a good singer !! Did you get the job? Hello to a fellow Styx fan !!

  • @ElThrashinFlea put it on youtube lol

  • @ElThrashinFlea how did that work out?

  • @ElThrashinFlea LOOOOOOL! I'LL NEVER GET A WORK BUT, IF IT HAPPENS I'LL DO THE SAME WAY!

  • @RiffmasterGT49 you should watch south park's "you're getting old" episode...not saying I desagree that most music you hear these days is shit but still you should watch it

  • @gargoilihemmo that and when you grow older you realize that what you used to listen to really was shit lol

  • @theycallmemagic Not me. My dad is a musician, and I grew up listening to bands like this because of him. THANK GOD. <3

  • boss

  • This song should be re-released. Has relevance today.

  • This song brings back memories of high school, loading trucks, long nights impossible odds. Our crew would hand load 30 step vans, 4 semis every night, sometimes 6 semis. I do not miss the work for one minute although we did have lots of fun, telling stupid jokes, making plans for weekend beer parties, talking about how we would fix up our cars. Good times, good times.

  • @theredocktober When you're 18, there IS no limit, to anything. No such thing as pain or heartbreak or bein' poor. We were Achilles, all of us Guys. "Death before Dishonor". Keep the Faith, Brother, we will meet again!!

  • Pieces of eight is so fucking awesome to have on vinyl

  • the best song ever writtin.

  • the meaning of songs interests me.

  • This song tells the story of a man who is sick of being mocked for being jobless. He tries to get a job and when he is denied, he tries to persuade people into hiring him.

  • Dennis DeYoung has an opera style voice - UNTOUCHABLE

  • @evilunixuser1 Yes, but he doesn't sing this song.

  • this song melts mah face

  • Finally found this song! the best organ in it

  • @DaDopest911 Styx is boss.

  • THIS IS MUSIC! all you little kids out there dissn this song cause you "love" that druggie bitch kesha can go fuck yourselfs, if you even know what sex is. this is by a band with something called TALENT. something that was replaced by auto tunes and sluts. I owe the writer, band and uploader a huge thanks for putting music on youtube. this will be on my ipod as I remember CDs and good music. thanks.

  • @Bonified369 - my thoughts exactly

  • This song came out 10 years before i was born and i fucking love it!

  • @JonNichol37 This song coame out 15 years before I was born and I love it as well!!!

  • god i had the main riff stuck in my head forever and i couldn't name it. finally found it and it's so satisfying!

  • love me some styx

  • someone's delusional *cough*jamo*cough*

  • if u like this comment im gonna find out where u live and SH*T on ur lawn

  • god damn I LOVE STYX SO MUCH

  • I just saw them yesterday at Jones Beach. They were excellent! They pretty much sounded just like their studio recordings!

  • just heard it today and fell in love!!!

  • best styx song

  • this is ballin'

  • This song fits Obama's America. Blue collar hit much harder than white in this recession. White collar bankers got all that TARP money - A reward for screwing all of us with their toxic loans packaged and sold to fund managers across the land with a wink and a nod.

  • Love this song...overdriven Hammond organ FTW.

  • My room is literally destroyed right now :D

  • I cant believe Styx didnt win any awards. It's baffling

  • @bobthetruckdriver

It is indeed baffling. They are still a great band live (saw them last year). For some reason, it wasn't cool to like Styx (the '70's show even did an episode about that).

  • @rennieallen Because for every song like "Blue Collar Man" there are 2 like "Lady." I love Styx (especially this song), but let's not fool ourselves into thinking they rocked this hard on all of their songs.

  • I remember when this song came out. Every time I hear it, I think of my old man, carrying his lunchbox, getting in his car and heading off for another long night in the factory. Now, that's me, greasing the wheels of industry. I am my fathers son, I am a BLUE COLLAR MAN! And damn proud of it!

  • @Blstrek Why would you be proud of something like that? I almost got depressed just reading it!

  • @Blstrek man, that kind of comment only comes from deep within the heart. LONG LIVE STYX!!!!

  • who u want to win.....THE GOD DAMMED JETS lmfao

  • Mid- to late 1970s rock stars are some of the best musicians ever to have lived.

  • This is great music,The music people listen to now isnt good, its just poular.

  • today was my last day of high school

I asked one of my teachers to play this song at the end of class

    he did

  • This should be the official theme song of the Great Recession

  • @eric5906 It certainly hits home for me.

  • i'm a hardcore rap fan, and i fucking love this song.

  • The nations theme song

  • Yes!

  • HEY

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST FUCKING SONGS

    END STATEMENT

  • looks like 16 people are justin beiber fans go put ur dislikes some where else like rebecca black. yea that u should do u fuckin people dont appreciate good music from the 70s and 80s nowdays u can have a band off a key board what has this world come too.

  • 60's = rock, 70's = rock / pop, 80's = rock / pop 90's = grudge / pop '00's = pop. Something is missing here.

  • @xxwhiteSummerxx and you are the single worst person ever born.

  • ANOTHER GREAT 70'S SONG TO ADD TO MY 70'S PLAYLIST

  • When i hear that song i see rocky beating the shit out of clubber lang^^

  • So is this the music that the College Kids would listen to at major University-Colleges and at regular colleges all across the U.S.A in the mid-to late 1970's. I could only guess. Just curious.

  • woooo!!!!!!thanks for the good time ,great quality man

  • great song , great group

  • Looks like 13 people are Justin Bieber fans. Keep out of here Bieber freaks because you wouldn't know great classic music when you heard it.

  • Only one word is worthy of this song: Epic

  • THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DEATH METAL SONG! JUST CUZ OF THE INTRO!

dont get me wrong, it's a damn good song how it is, but it should have been metal...

    *sniff*

  • @GODofBloodCrimson Naaaaaaaah.

  • This video has been chosen for March 7, 2011 post on facebook page: Random Daily Classic Rock Song

  • i saw stkx in corpus christi and i loved them! :D

  • this song is in my top 5 list so like it

  • 13 people would rather be red collar men.

  • @daviemmproc111

You mean white collared, lol. Heck! Do you even know what the song is about? "Give me a job, give me security, give me a chance to survive, I'm just a poor soul in the unemployment line" Blue collared means you work a hard job with low wages. White collared means the exact opposite. The reason for the naming is because of the shirts the workers use. Construction workers-Blue Collared. Doctors/Office workers-White Collared. Lol, you made my day!

  • @aijunk2

I know, I simply have a sense of humor.

  • @daviemmproc111

    :)

Next time put down, "White collard thumbed this video down"-or something like that.

  • this song is "concert material", wich is the greatest kind of music in the whole frickin world !!!!!

  • Great rhythm ! sounds like a speedboat motor starting up!

  • Saw Styx live the other day, and they did this song! Even better live!

  • Great for Boss Battles :3

  • Kick ass beginning!

  • Shocking how many times this song has echoed in my mind... do you feel my brother.

    To better days!

    Cheers my Friend

    nevever give up never surrender...

  • Wow what a song, man.

  • @012Tilly To clarify, I meant the only one working between me and my wife.

  • @kurisux You're right on both counts. Only now it's up to 13. How can anyone not like this song? Come on now, this is Styx!! And this song is awesome and definately hits home for me.

    So, I salute you!!!

  • 12 people that watched this don't know music

  • i've a B.S. degree and dues paying member of the UAW.

    LIFE SUCKS !!!

take me back to the 70's, please !!

  • I'm lost on what an Isian woman is.

Also ,I may be plagarizing, but...... Best American Rock Band Eveeeer.

  • 10 people dont want to watch keyholes :)

  • i had always LOVED this song, but couldnt find it because i didnt know the name of it.........glad i found it ;)

  • This song hits you the same way that Billy Joel's "Allentown" does.

  • "an anthem for today"? Don't we wish! Most of the high-paying blue-collar jobs have migrated overseas. We now have too many business majors and unskilled jobs. Long live Styx for singing the praises of the blue-collar man!

  • The guitar solo tone is fucking rich!

  • It always amazes me when it happens, when it shouldn't. People listen to the music they like, and what does it make them do? Rage in the comments, usually at Justin Beiber(you people have issues, not everything is about Beiber), but sometimes at each other, as here. Music = Rage, clearly.

  • I'm so excited about seeing them on the 8th!!! woooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep; Cool ~ Classic ! C:

  • Finaly Found it!!! :DDDDDDD

  • Ah the memories, I love youtube and all this great old music! Net neutrality better not screw this up! The government screws up everything it touches!

  • @1776Rosco

The thing is, if any politician screws up the internet for even a significant fraction of it's users, their career will implode upon itself. It's not even a partisan issue, it's the fact that internet users are an extremely significant force when mobilised.

  • @1776Rosco the goverment cant screw up the goverment anymore then it has says the criddicts

  • @258legolas "criddicts"? By any chance do you mean critics?

  • @TheOrnageJuice that would be hitting th nail on the head (im not a very great speller

  • @258legolas and now you know, and knowing is half the battle! (insert G.I Joe themesong)

  • @1776Rosco So do corporations :)

  • @ektrules Nowadays they are one in the same. Fascism!

  • @1776Rosco This is when anarchy reigns supreme :)

  • i wanna be a blue collar man. i need a job, money, a car & all that good stuff. i guess wut i'm saying is i can rel8 2 this song. damn.

  • @thegrungewave BLUE COLLAR! You want anything besides paying the highest tax rate by % of income, Taking home 1 dollar for every twenty thousand the boss man gets. White collar boy is on the fortune 500 list and spends his days on the beach in Aruba, Meanwhile YOU strain to afford boxed macaroni and cheese on minimum wage. When rich boy gets in trouble He don't go to prison with the sodomites, He goes to pansy pay prison like Martha Stewart! BIG rooms w/ Hot tubs and room service and A maseuse!

  • @bigfootskitty is that wut a blue collar man is? ok. so i guess i misinterpreted it. nevermind, i DONT want 2 be a blue collar man.

  • @bigfootskitty Mr Madoff would respectfully disagree with you. If your on the fortune 500,you don't get there from spending days on the beach. Maybe if you stopped taking bong hits you would make more than minimum wage.If you don't like the 20 K to 1 ratio, you could always DO something about it.That what makes America great. You have opportunity.

  • @moirajean8 Well disagree then, But you get on the fortune 500 by shafting your workers with PATHETIC, LOW wage! You Know the People with the LEAST are taxed the MOST, Single folks paying for education of kids they don't have. You will never see the C.E.O. getting A "pay-day loan" Just the employees. The chief takes all the meat of the kill and leaves you to chew the hoofs & inard. No fortune 500er ever did it ALL for themselves, where as Joe work has to every day, so 500 man can grow fatter yet

  • @bigfootskitty I guess by the " facts" you spew, you have a 5th grade education. Get your pencil and paper ready, time to get schooled. The top 5% of wage earners pay 50% of the taxes, the bottom 50% pay nothing. So the folks paying for your bastard children are the wealthy. If you need a pay day loan then your not living within your means.Maybe you should stop huffing butts & swilling alcohol. My guess is that your a "hope & change"-"yes we can" type of guy.Looking for a handout. G
