  • I just saw the re edited version of this scene and it sucked.

  • I'm always so amazed how fucking amazing Jabba looks in comparison to anything in the prequels.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO SPECIAL EFFECTS GEORGE!!! This Jabba looks 1,000,000X better than that shitty CG Jabba from the deleted scenes in A New Hope that you insist on putting in the movie as if it's a real representation of Jabba's character (If Han stepped on Jabba, Jabba would have his thugs break his knee caps and confiscate his ship)

  • 0:58-0:59, gotta love that green tit slip.

  • last time i saw this version was back in the early 90s before our VCR ate up the video, thanks for putting this up

  • I wouldn't want to be the gynecologist of that planet.

  • why George why? It was so good

  • BRB, going to buy the DVDs with the laser disc version of Star Wars.

  • nananananananananananananana FETT MAN 0:23

  • I too, would kill a Twi'lek after hearing the 'remastered' "Jedi Rocks"

  • Max rebo rocks

  • I love the OOOOOH and AHHHH of excitement towards the start of the video

  • This is sooooo much better than Jedi Rocks... They should've kept the same song in the re-matered version.

  • Alright, I'll admit, the remastered Sy Snootles look better. But why'd they have to change the song? In the remastered version, it they played one called "Jedi Rocks". Wouldn't Jabba be pissed that they're playing something about Jedis? Unless, of course, the song is about Jedis getting killed... But Lapti Nek sounds so much better. And also seems to suit Jabba and his palace better.

  • Jack Black lookalike? :41

  • Anyone that doesn't want to snort coke to this is a fag. Funk from another galaxy. Who cares what she's singing killer groove and vibe spew off the music and sheer genius behind it.

  • Updating the effects is one thing, but why change the song and the whole number into this ridiculous music video? Sadly, at the age of 25, I've likely seen the re-done version more than this one.

  • Oh yes no big hairy thing in this

  • 11 People got eaten by the Rancor.

  • Im sorry to say this, but this scene is really crappy especially with the goofy looking puppet singer, im knda glad that they fixed this scene up in the special edition versions

  • Interestingly enough, Femi Taylor (the actress who plays Oola, the green Twi'lek dancer) said in an interview she prefers this version over the special edition. Can't blame her, can you?

  • @MySushiBear Puppets age so much better then crappy cgi, which already looks like junk. I will admit that the three new backup dancers are very cool. But they could have been added into the scene without changing everything else.

  • @MySushiBear Not one iota. Many times the original is the best.

  • @MySushiBear Why did she prefer this version?

  • @MixtursahProductions Well she said she was a little biased. You really get to see more of Oola in this version, which I enjoy more as well. In the special edition, they don't focus on her as much, mainy on the new cgi additions and added characters. Not to mention the argument between Oola and Jabba was cut differently in it for some reason.

  • @MySushiBear mainly*

  • @MySushiBear I see... I didn't notice that. But I think we all would enjoy more of Oola in this scene, so we can't really blame her.

  • @MySushiBear

EVERYBODY but George Lucas prefers this version. I wish there was a DVD of all the old Star Wars films as they ORIGINALLY WERE.

  • @MMRED There is a DVD set that includes the original theatrical versions as bonus discs.

  • @waitinthecar

    Which DVD is that?

  • @MMRED It seems a lot of online retailers have seriously jacked up the price, but it's still available some places for like $35-$40. YouTube won't let me link to it, but it's a blue and black box with Vader's mask taking up the top third of the box, Luke and Vader dueling over the Star Wars logo dead center, and large IV, V, VI along the bottom.

  • @waitinthecar

I know I already said this, but thank you very much for going through the trouble of finding it. I really appreciate it.

  • @MMRED No worries! Hope you were able to snag a reasonably priced copy.

  • This is the better song, better scene. :-)

  • Na, natoota is all I can say to the new version. This one is the best.

  • 0:58 for nip slip ^ _ ^

  • Sy Snootles is way hotter than Lady Gaga. And a better songstress, too.

  • Next time they change the cantina band music........

  • I heard the original masters to this song were lost, so I guess I'd have to have a re-recording if I was to get behind a restoration project.

  • The aliens look more real than that cartoony badly-done CGI he replaced this with. And this song is way better and not corny.

I remember watching the behind-the-scenes for this version on a tape called "From Star Wars to Jedi" and them showing the hard work the puppeteers put in. The CGI scene is the ultimate insult.

  • Also, I believe John Williams was behind this one, which he was definitely not for "Jedi Rocks" (they brought in a new composer).

  • This version is more low-key and influenced by disco.

  • Jedi Rocks is ass it's ass!!!

  • don't really understand all the hate towards the newer version of the original trilogy. I just finished watching all three movies in blu-ray, and these editions are AWESOME, I can't watch the older ones anymore... seriously, why the hell people disagree with Ian McDiarmid appearing in HIS own character in ep. V? Or the digital Jabba in ep. IV which completes the circle of the Han mini-plot? Not to mention all the problems fixed... 2011 Star Wars complete saga is the ultimate and the best

  • and for the most traditional fans, the scene with Greedo now is pretty much like the original, they just shoot together,Han's still a badass. Christensen for his cameo in ep. VI didn't act very well, but the scene itself is correct, we see the ghost of Anakin Skywalker as he was before turning to the dark side. The "noooo" in the end duel is bad just for english, because my italian version is well dubbed and Italian voice of Vader is way much better than J.E. Jones...

  • @slaskrevenge George replaced this song with the crappy, badly-done CGI Jedi Rocks sequence. It's a huge insult to the people that originally worked really hard on the scene. The digital Jabba still doesn't look good and the scene is redundant, although I don't care that he added it.

Han shot first and it's ridiculous to change his character like that. The blast when he originally shot Greedo looks much cooler. Hayden Christensen did a bad job reprising his role as Anakin's ghost.

  • @slaskrevenge What else? The voice actor George replaced for Boba Fett is worse and weaker than the menacing voice he originally had. I do agree with you about Ian McDiarmid, though, but Star Wars fans usually don't point that scene out. It's the only improvement George made, but everything else was unnecessary and in most cases worse.

I bet the quality of the Blu-ray is amazing, which is why we wish he also remastered the original versions and included them, too.

  • @TheOneartist i don't really think the puppets looked more real. They're just "statues".It's not an insult, those people get paid for their job,now Lucas is just fixing things he coulnd't have like he wanted before.Audience can agree or not,but it's not a wrong process. To me digital Jabba looks fine, and the Greedo killing is not "for defence" anymore. He didn't include original versions because these are the SW Final cut. Neither Blade Runner got its original edition blu-ray,but no one complains

  • @slaskrevenge Blade Runner is different. Ridley Scott would have made the film he wanted had the studio not gone against his and Harrison Ford's wishes and screwed things up. He had to record his narration in between bursts of anger. After that came the so-called "Director's Cut", but Ridley wasn't directly involved and it was based off some notes he gave. The Final Cut was finally his chance. He didn't use CGI to add to the film. He only used it to take away some technical mistakes, like wires.

  • @slaskrevenge Also, Blade Runner did indeed have all of its versions released on DVD and Blu-ray using the highest source material. It's part of the "five-disc complete collector's edition".

What George Lucas did is add some bad CGI enhancements as well as unnecessary changes that actually take away from Star Wars. And he was in control when he made the original versions. Yet he didn't release them remastered or anamorphic on DVD, and they're not on the Blu-ray. Ridiculous.

  • @TheOneartist Nope. The original Blade Runner on blu-ray doesn't exist. It's on dvd, AS the original Star Wars are. And even in the old trilogy adjustments were made to take away technical mistakes (take a look at ALL the changes made, and you'll notice how many things were improved). He was in control at the time, but he hadn't the means to make the films he wanted.

  • @slaskrevenge Go on Amazon, type in Blade Runner and click on "Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray] (2007)". All the versions exist on Blu-ray, including the workprint. You're probably not looking in the right place. There were two Blu-ray versions released: the two-disc Final Cut and the 5-disc with all the versions. 1080p using high quality sources, not a hastily transferred non-anamorphic Laserdisc source like on the Star Wars DVD's.

  • That has to be one of the ugliest puppets I've ever seen, but I'd rather have that than the cartoony and incredibly out of place cg-thing in the later editions.:P

  • @freaknr1 Sy Snootles puppet makes me laugh. The new CGI one doesn't. But it's so funny how Snootles is basically a statue being moved around.

  • I don't really like either Jedi Rocks nor Lapti Nek, I think that instead of a dance number, there should be Cantina-like music playing in my opinion

  • this song has sort of a sleazy bar feel that the new horrid CGI version completely misses.

  • @gusbaker4u Exactly, this feels like a grotty sleazy bar with the rough singer and jazz. The new version is SO over processed and plastic. This feels sleazy like in the Episode 4 bar.

  • @ojideagu This. The new version totally fucks with the previously established atmosphere.

  • I'm glad that I have my original theatrical release dvd's. (Came out in 2006, if you're interested.)

  • 9 people are utter failures of humanity.

  • Jabba is the big dog!

  • puppet sy snootles is so much better than CGI sy

  • Boob out at 0:58 ;)

  • this one is okay. i like jedi rocks better though. it was a little bit weirder. i like weird.

  • WE NEED LUCAS TO RELEASE THE ORIGINAL UNCUT THEATRICAL VERSIONS OF STAR WARS WITH 4K CONVERSION IN DTS ON BLU RAY NOW!

  • this look like a creepy opium den in space, jedi rocks looks like cirque du soli in space

  • The best version of the Jedi Rocks. Never should have changed it.

  • The BEST version of the original music from this movie.. the remake is total crap

  • what is that banana looking thing on the right side of the screen at 0:09?

    SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!!!!

  • @ManofChrist101 Space banana.

  • this 1 time... at band camp....

  • Say what you want about Jabba... But he sure throws some kick-ass parties!

  • WTC STAR WARS HAD A MUSICAL NUMBER?! O___O

BTW: Ellen's Stardust Diner in NYC brought me here :D

  • sy snootles sounds like she just smoked a 1000000 cigars

  • I went to see Return of the Jedi in the theaters when they re-released it as special edition. When they got to this scene and I saw they completely changed it I WALKED OUT of the theater (yes I did). This is one of my favourite scenes from the original triology. I was so mad that they put that CGI crap in there and took the original scene out completely! It made me mad enough to leave the theater, go home and pop in my old ROTJ VHS.

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka Seriously? This was one of your favorite scenes?

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka Really. I feel bad that I hadn't seen this until today, but I find the original Sy Snootles very funny. My fav part was the beginning where Snootles:I callin' in a nisa.

Just cracks me up. As for the other version... well. The drummer was good.

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka the newer song is better, but the CGI feels really out of place

  • @RossEStern i personally did not like the newer song...

and i'm only 13... found the original by accident on youtube.

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka I didn't like Ya Howza either. Nor did I like the reworking of the ending with Hayden Christensen in place of Sebastian Shaw and no Yub Nub.

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka Too Sentimental if you ask me. You wasted your money because of ONE scene? I would have just sucked it up and kept watching. I think the song is slightly better here, but the CG and the extended scene is better on the special edition. Plus you get to see Boba Fett silently flirt with a dancer. So I don't think you should have left.

  • @DaveyJonesesLocka

We used to have two different sets of the VHS versions of the original SW films (I don't know why we had two but we had two) and then my mom just left all our VHS videos out in a bin one day w/o our permission. I REALLY wish we still had those videos!

  • Am I the only one who thinks this sounds like Thompson Twins song Lies?

  • Huh. Thumbs up if you never realized until now that this is the same alien chick as the one who was running around singing crazy in the special edition version.

  • I don't have a problem with either version

  • I love this song and this scene! They're just so much better than the new one!

  • I was born in 1989 and grew up with the originals. The bloody originals. I absolutely hated when the remakes came out. I even disliked the "first three" that were made after because there was a beauty to 1980s film which was: the special effects and puppets! In the originals Yoda was a physical, moving, presence! -NOT a dumb CGI!

  • Hey i love both versions

  • holy jesus fucking god almighty in glorious heaven this is SOOOO much better than that steaming shit pile of outdated, soulless CGI that lucas raped my childhood with

  • 0:57 Wardrobe malfunction

  • @StarWarsEdits

    giggity

  • Why did jabba kill oola? Was she trying to pull jabba of of his stage thing? To me oola was just dancing then randomly began talking jibberesh then she gets killed. I don't get it.

  • @jabba820 He's just an asshole. He thinks killing people for no reason is funny. Also, that rancor ain't cheap to feed...

  • @jabba820 guess what he was after with her but she refused and he lost his temper

  • @az19all then how come jabba was a hero in the clone wars? it seems like jabba was good in the new trilogy, but in the original trilogy he was a gangster.

  • @jabba820 After watching her dance, Jabba wanted to have sex with her. So he pulled the chain(that's what he does to get the dancer near him). Oola already knew what the chain pull meant and was like super-scared of Jabba when he wants to have sex. So she resisted(she probably has done it ever since the first time). Info comes from wookiepedia.

  • youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tCa7fR5zerU#at=18

  • But when it came time for "Lapti Nek" to have its first official release, Annie Arbogasts' rough and somewhat screechy vocal was replaced by a vocal track from a professional singer, Michele Gruska.

  • I rode my bike 3 miles thru the Texas woods to see this flick in 83. Went and bought the soundtrack b'cuz Max Rebo was jammin'.

  • LIPS ON A STICK!!!

  • Max Rebo 4 lyfe. Not playing that new star wars mmo unless I can roll an Ortolan bard.

  • I sort of prefer the animated Sy Snootles because it actually looks like she's dancing and singing, but I HATE that fuzzy big mouth thing in the Special Edition. It's like a fuzzy cockroach or something.

  • Way to ruin the dance party, Jabba.

  • Do they ever actually show Oola being eaten?

  • Dude this song was so awesome. Guess I'm a purist, but wtf was he thinking changing this. The jedi rocks song BLOWS. Seeing this again I remembered every note. Its catchy. Unlike the new song which sounds like sea lions being sodomized through a PA system.

  • i think boba was getting turned on.

  • @Envythestead Yeah. I'm also turned on by the fat, wig wearing, transvestite with jiggling boobs and no dancing talent.

  • I hate this version.. i grew up with the original un-CGI ones too but i must say the new Jedi Rocks song from the re-release is soo much better

  • @tommor93

i'm growing up with the CGI ones, and I agree the old ones without the fancy crap are better.

(with the exception of the old sarlacc. the new one was better.)

    we have little in common.

  • @tommor93 You're one sack of shit.

  • @tommor93 You must be trollin'.

The CGI version is like a kick in the crotch, and that's the reason why HUH, I can't watch.

  • WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THIS SONG?! Its so incredibly funky :D

  • Man, idk why they replaced this song with that travesty that is Jedi Rocks.

  • i hate the cg version of sy snootles!!!!

  • next there going to change the star wars cantina song. Lucas put your films back to the way they were before I punch you

  • Dare to change this scene because the song he composed Lapti Nek John Williams was replaced in the remastered version of the song Jedi Rocks, which is more outrageous and therefore had to change certain parts of the scene so that the music does not stay outside context, hence its name Incidental Music.

  • Anyone else think her boob is popping out at 0:57?

  • WTF? the origional one was 800000000times better!!! im pissed!

  • I actually had the 45 for this song!! I love this version much better. I hate the remake.

  • Unlike "Jedi Ro[t]s" this is actually catchy.

  • i watched a making of how they made the band moving etc. and somehow it's kinda a slap in the face of the people who put so much afford into it. i still can't belive that in the special edition they changed the band and this great song, in some silly crap ass animated souless junk, there was no point of chaning it at all.

  • I don't know why, but that song reminds me about Duffy-Mercy )))

  • 0:56 her boob's totally out.

  • WHY WOULD HE KILL A HOT TWI-LEK AND NOT A SIX-BOOBED FREAK!?!?!?!

  • @theactualbobafett2 Maybe BECAUSE she had six boobs? :D ---> Yarna d'al' Gargan

  • this is mutch better than the new

  • This is a much more atmospheric scene than the new version.

  • I always felt so sorry for the dancer that opposed Jabbas' will :(

  • when I was little my friend and I always thought the lyrics said "rubber ducky cinda, look a that girl with the pants on her head"

  • The Star Wars I grew up with was a set of poor quality mono VHS recordings from USA Network that my dad made around 1994-ish when I was an infant. They have edits for time, but nothing major is removed (just a few seconds here and there). They are commercial-free because my dad had it on pause during every break. I still have the tapes, but they have been heavily watched and are in poor condition.

I didn't see any version of the Special Edition until around 2006, and have always hated it.

  • @someperson42 i got a copy of the empire strikes back for my sixth birthday and i thought the snow-speeders were cute.

  • @someperson42 there are releases of the unrevised versions on DVD that were relased in 2008.

  • @someperson42 That's when I first saw the Original Trilogy. On the USA Network in 1994.

  • Thumbs up if I should reupload this in higher quality

  • The big woman in the red outfit is an Askajian. She is a slave just like Oola, and her name is Yarna, according to the Star Wars wiki.

  • Whoo hoo Jabba getting funky :P

  • 1:03 Nipplegate 1983

  • 0:29 AAAABE VIGODA!

  • why did lucas have to mess with a scene that means nothing?

  • @retrojunkie1983 This film is getting worser all the time!!!

  • THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. Hands down this was the most random/unneccessary scene edit that Lucas made to any of the original trilogy. Except when he added in Hadyn Christiansen at the end... and removed the Ewok song... and err... actually every edit he made. BASTARD!

  • @SCfnL29 Oh come on, some of the changes were actuall good or alright. Like adding Luke's reunion with Biggs in the hanger or changing Vader's return to the flagship in Empire.

  • @MichaelAarons1701 - I was certainly glad to see Biggs in ANH. It's nice to finally see him in the movie after his mentionings at the beginning.

  • so much better. max rebo would be proud.

  • Jabba's club is the hardest to get into in the galaxy.

  • Favorite part of the song is when the lower organ(?) licks come in at 0:30. Doesn't sound half as good on the OST

  • Eh, stop your whining everyone. You know the remastered song was better, you're just hating on the Remastered version because it's very trendy to do.

  • @LolCaramelz Eat a fuckin' cock.

  • I think I like the 90's version better. It's just...catchier.

  • This is the jam!

  • ah this version is best

  • The fat chick with the six breasts should have had more screentime. What species is she?

  • The comments here just prove that sci-fi nerds fear change.

  • This song is bad, not as bad as the new one, but it really isnt that much better so stop shitting urselves retrofails.

  • Really rad, eh, Star Wars fans?

  • star was is for nerds my bros r nerds so they watch alot of this crap

  • @prxam2 Why are you watching this then?

  • LOL I remembered this song. The one singing this used to make me laugh as a kid XD <3

  • justin biber will be jealous on her vocals

  • You saw the twi'lek's nipple before she died, lol.

  • the song is annie arbogast's russian punk rock band doing a cover of easy goin' some 70's soul song I think

  • :59. Wow...

  • at 0:08 what the heck is that thing on the right? it looks like a live giant bananna

  • @LaptiNekMisheard - it's Amanaman "The Head Hunter" performed by puppeteer Ailsa Berk.

  • Couldn't agree with all the posts here. I prefer this song alot more to the 'new' version. But it was good to see more of Oola in the updated version. She is gorgeous and should have had a more prominant part. If they'd had more time and money, according to Femi Taylor (who plays her), then they would have stuck to the original plan in which Oola actually escapes ..shame.

  • hahhahahhaha jabba gets turned on

  • It strikes me as kind of amusing that a fat snake-frog-slug creature is apperently attracted to a humanoid.

That or he just wanted to feed her to his pet for the lulz.

I like that explanation best actually.

  • @Shavarnarak Jabba LOVED him some epic lulz! He also LOVED perving the humanoids. Who can blame him? Hutts are too fat and lazy to be loved... like americans!

  • all I gotta says is, BUST A MOVE.

  • I spent around 5 hours converting the pre-mastered laser-disc editions to dvd so I could watch the original trilogy. The definition's not great, was it worth the trouble? *hell yeah*

  • 0:05 lol OOO AAAH

  • someone else mentioned this and i dont know why i never noticed it before (though its prob a good thing), by sy snootles is topless

  • man, I hope that hispanic chick got really well paid for having to do that scene.

  • original versin

  • they didnt even use the words "lapti nek" in this version
