Avoiding spoilers and cheats (awesome work here btw) I remember you need to have at least 3 itmes. A Black Egg, the Crystal Cone and another item with (I'm pretty sure) 'Crystal' in the name -- just can't for the life of me remember what it does. One locates the planet, one allows you to land or detonate the Black Egg -- something like that. I completed both Starflights without cheating - SF1 in about 1989, SF2 much later in 2002.
If you want the answer completely spoiled .. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED ... get a second black egg and blow up the lifebearing world orbiting the star at 55,32. It is the Uhlek Brain World. Once it is destroyed, the species will not be a threat for the duration of the game.

It's been awhile since you've touched this -- I have beaten the game. You can eliminate the uhlek as a threat. The way to find out in game is to threaten the Spemin. They are outward and upspin, but not out in uhlek space. Bully them, and destroy their ships until they surrender. Ask them hostile questions. They will tell you what to do to the uhlek.
BTW: What happens if you decide to have a Thrynn on board? The Elowan won't revel the secret of the four-seedlings. Is there an alternate path to finding the institute?
I totally agree! I remember finding the crystal planet, but had no idea what to do with it. I also remember coming across the USS Enterprise, which was fun.

It's so great to watch you succeed where I failed back in 1987.
Finally, some closure.

Will be nice if Viridian can finish this series.
