  • This video strikes one as a bit strange. Prior to playback the timeline shows up as red on all of the demos. Red=Adobe Premiere Pro saying it does not have confidence that it will be able to play the content back smoothly. What gives?

  • This video looks great, but I have almost the same setup but it struggles to play just 2 layers of AVCHD, especially in the first 10 or 15 min after opening PP. But if I have been using it for like 45 min or more, it will eventually begin to play it more smoothly. I have an early 2011 17" Macbook Pro with the 2.2GHz quad core i7 & 8gb of ram and I am using Production Premium CS5.5. What am I doing wrong? this should be able to play it without a problem no matter what.

  • ~ My question is: Do I need a macbook pro to use thunderbolt to work Adobe Production Premium? Will Thunderbolt Pegasus work on a 21.5'' 2011 iMac core i7, or does it have to be on a MacBook pro. [ I do not want to use the iMac 21.5" as a display, but as the main workflow for A.P.P

  • Does this works on the Windows version?

  • XGAUGE came on one of the Apple Developer discs from a much older version of OSX. It does not work on anything with more than 8 threads.

  • just wondering, where can you get xgauge app from?

  • All I'll say is that I prefer to use my old desktop with the Quadro over my new 17" with the Radeon.

The GPU makes a HUGE difference.

Adobe please support Stream or OpenCL !

So many laptops now have ATI, and NVIDA isn't even a option on many models.

The GPU acceleration cuts down processing time tremendously as well as make things smoother.

  • With the exception of the Red footage, is the rest of the this footage being used (un) transcoded. I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop to the new 15" Mac Book Pro and I just want to make sure that I don't have to trancode my AVCHD footage for smooth playback.

  • None of this is transcoded - thanks

  • I want to use Mercury Playback, but I dont know what video card to get. What would be the best video card for Mac Pro?

    THANKS

  • You have a few choices. If you can find an older GeForce 285 for Mac, that will be your cheapest option. The Quadro FX4800 for Mac is a excellent card and was replaced by the Quadro 4000 for Mac. The 4800 & 4000 are about the same speed over all. Good deals on 4800's/

  • @dhelmly what is best for Windows?

  • so i have been editing with a computer from 2008 and have been dealing with all the limitations of an old slow computer. When i bought the macbook pro 15inch 2.2ghz 4gb ram ...i was told by the apple salesman that i should always edit from the hardrive inside the laptop. I started working on a video..and even on 1/4th playback resolution everything was choppy! i was about to go on a full rant here, until i decided to try my external hardrive..and behold full resolution playback WORKS! :) :)

  • @BlackSupraC2

    SSD is even better.

  • $1700 mac book pro or 800 dollar sandybridge pc overclocked to 4.7GHz (with a nvidia card for hardware acceleration) hmmmm tough choice

  • I just installed CS5 on a 2008 macbook pro with 6gigs of Ram - 8600GT card. Not sure if any GPU mojo is going on but I can actually view the AVCHD footage directly off an SD card and edit it natively. Nice not to have to transcode. Still have to run some tests as it's been on my machine for all of 12 hours.

  • I Wonder how It will handle AVCHD in software mode since ati has no hardware mode !!!!

A Thousand dollar HP laptop will blow this computer to apple sheaders

  • AVCHD works excellent.

  • Im wondering how would it handle avchd in software only
