Interesting to hear even a Formula 1 driver describe Senna's death as "The end of the book for F1". millions of fans also feel the same way to this day. Senna was the best ever by so far its indescribable - and there has been almost zero attraction to F1 since he went. I prefer watching archives of Senna, Mansell, Prost era than the boring-as-batshit drivel we are served now - Bernie what did you do? - you ruined everything!
It was his time to leave, plain and simple but hard to be comperhend by our human mind! He lives in the hearts of 'people' whether they were die-hard F1 fans or normal peopel like me who never had an interest in F1 or any other sports! 17 years later and his influence reaches to people born after his death, thats a true legend.
With the podium celebration and all of this hypocrysy, Ayrton proved the F1 is also a business. He fought since 1989 (suzuka) against the governing and this make a final point to his fight...
kinda off topic but with everybody else acknowlaging senna and erik were both great people i would like to ask isn't it ironic his second name in COMAs and that he was hit unconcious with a tyre? or even more so that senna *rip* was in a state of coma too before his unfortunate death?
Incredible irony life brings up from time to time. Senna saves Erik's life, but tragically Erik is the last to see Senna alive. Life can seriously be cruel. Erik's last F1 race Japan 1994. -Daz in Oz.
anyone can explain what they are talking about towards the end. The hypocrisy he is talking about? about the race being continued. im not sure what specifically they are discussing.
@tharbk01 because the managers didn't stop the race, instead making it continue, even with a podium celebratium. He stated that the accident would cancel the GP,something harmful to the business managers
@EastNow3 It was practice but it still doesn't undermine the brave effort to get to the car, so your comment is still a very good comment. -Daz in Oz.
Or maybe they heard the incident with a 'Yellow flag' slowed down, [which they have to if there's traffic] PULL OVER onto the gravel to see if their mate was alright, dumbass.
If Senna helped him, when he crashed fatally, couldn't people be bothered to get out, to see if the legendary driver was OK?
Yeah, it didn't look that bad of a crash [Senna's] but at least SOMEONE have the courtesy to get out and help, you won't see anything like that sportsmanship from Senna nowadays.
@mario7kart7master7 Yeah! Maybe someone should have just slamed the brakes on at 320kph through tamburello when theirs other cars right behind them...and if someone crashed into the back of them, then their would have been 2 or more drivers who could have run 300 meters down the track to senna, so they could stand around and do nothing.
@mario7kart7master7 Tamburello isn't a corner with slow approach - like blanchimont, but Eric was right in the middle of the track. Furthermore, it was a race rather than a practice session.
@Fodedor0 dude u do not know what u r talking about, Senna was hero because of what he did on the track, he was something else, he was special, he had a thing that cannot be discribed he had something that no other driver had or will have, no schumacher or prost had that thing that Ayrton had, and thats why he was so special
@Fodedor0 You're just mad because no one gives a fuck about you and you've never accomplished a damn thing in your life. Senna accomplished his dreams and fought through hateful teammates, and a biased president to do it. The world saw it and we loved him for it. What have you in your life? He even had Ratzenberger's flag in his sleeve. He was racing in memory of him. A hero and a great example to all sportsman. You're just a fucking nobody. Please kill yourself you trash
Thanks @Cadmuss for upload this. I didnt knew about Erik's crash neither he got saved by Senna. Brazil loss its best F1 driver, now we dont have any winner or good driver. F1 now is not fun.
Brilliant video, it was always the biggest question mark of F1 history to me: what did Comas do on the track when Senna had is crashed and the red flags were out.
The camera;s where on the Tamburello and suddenly you could hear an F1 car accelerating out of the pit, because the commentators where also in the pit. And seconds later, the car appeared on screen as well and it was Eric Comas. Every commentator was surprised, all had forget that Comas maybe wanted to do something back for Spa '92...
@s1003232 What actually happened was that his team let him out of the pit lane to get back onto the track and await the start of the race, neither the team or Eric knew exactly what was happening with the Senna accident, it was a very sad mix up that should never of been allowed, I rememeber at the time the commentators could not belive it.
There is a book called Echoes of Imola that has an interview with Eric Comas in it where he describes what happened.

What a hero. Risked his life to save another. We will never see his like again in Formula One. A sad loss, not just for the sport, but for humanity.
