the CDJ 800 mk2/1000 MK3 did not create perfect loops as per Traktor either. If you created auto loops, you always had to adjust the loop end (using loop out button and jog wheel) to find the closest frame. You would then have to stay on top of it in the mix, using the jog wheel to 'nudge' when it swung out. This was part of the 'art' of looping… Perfect bpm synced loops would be nice, but if it's no worse than previous models, I can live with it.
@DjJenix If you update to the new firmware, wich you can download from the pioneer website. the problem wil become a lot less. if the problem still remain. put the pitch speed to +6 instead of +10. and its always better to start (click) the loop on the 2 count.
qualquer cdj pioneer com loops faz isso..vai atrasando os frames...nao é problema nenhuma..isso é perfeitamente normal.. isso nao é um computador onde os batimentos se ajustam automaticamente..
I only just got 850's 2 days ago. and would like to update them with 1.04 firmware, however i can't find the file to download anymore? the 1.06 update doesn't include this looping error fixed? Regards, Trenton.
@djtrentonsmith indeed it still doesn't work the way it should... The BPM won't change as long as you don't change the length of your loop. If you change the length, the BPM gets lower/higher. Unacceptable!
It's not Pioneer's fault. CDJ Players have to divide every second of a track into 75 frames. Loop works from frame to frame, so setting a perfect loop on a CDJ player is almost impossible. The only perfect loop I know is possible to make is on a 128 BPM track for 15 seconds (32 beats, that is one full phrase of a song), or multiple times larger (30sec 45sec etc). On CDJ-2000 & CDJ-900 you can also make 7,5-second loop (1 sec = 150 frames), others are impossible to be perfect, even with autoloop.
@Benc2a i think ill have to agree with you in some ways. BUT the players i used in the passed didnt have that much difference in beats as the cdj 850. i agree that a auto beat loop cant be perfect.
its just that these players have so much difference that sometimes they make more like an 3 beat loop than a 4 beat. i know these players don't have quantize. and that's also what i had to tell the Pioneer product manager in Holland, because he didn't even knew,,, what a company... pioneer.
@gregorydesign88 i had contact with my dealer. they said that they know about this problem... now its the question when or if they release the firmware update. yes. myne is still broke.
@MrMrDJ3 depends... ive phoned with a product manager of pioneer benelux. he said that not all the items have this problem. so only if you have this problem with your item, you should think about it. but again. i dont know if pioneer will accept it. or will come out with a firmware update.
ill phone pioneer and ask them when or if, they expect the firmware update. otherwise i dont think ill keep this item.
why dont you just adjust it a tiny bit and stop complaining. this is professional equipment if you dont know how to beat match on your own then theres no point. the bpm indicator is there to give you a rough idea but should never be relied on - especially with rnb music. use your headphones and LEARN HOW TO MIX.
@fadsbadboyz If you use your well trained ears you can hear that this is a fault in the firmware and that it’s not about the BPM indicator but about the frames made in the loop. It’s not that I can’t, but I won’t. Because when I buy a product worth 1800 Euros I want, when I push a 4 beat button, it makes a 4 beat loop. NOT a 3.8. it makes it useless, when you are mixing. As a good dj knows.
-4 beat loop 130 BPM must fit on a non loop 130 BPM… Now watch the video again and think about it-
most of the time i spin dnb on 850 and counters are no good for me because sometimes they say 87 or 127 (if there are just hihats in the intro) or 174. because of this i can never rely on autolooping. If i use looping then i have to do it manually. there is no perfect loop machines make tiny errors & after time you always have to pitch bend it to stay in sync. this mistake in the looping function is a bit too obvious but you can train yourself to get around it...do everything manually
@DavidHoly i understand your point, and i think you are right. but i have worked a few times with the 2000. and much more with the 1000 mk3/2 or older 800 mk2. and ive seen this problem once before and that was at the 800 MK1. so. if the 2000, (maybe the 900), 800 Mk2 and 1000 can do it. why cant this one?
also got note back from pioneer and they know about his problem. now its waiting for an firmware update....
yeah it sucks that they've made an autolooping function that doesn't work correct. in the scratchworx review, he stated that 850 lacks the quantisation feature (800 & 900 both have it) - as i understand this, 850 is less accurate...hope it isn't a hardware problem and they can fix this with a firmware update
-quote- Skratchworx, about the auto beat loop on the CDJ 850's.
"The CDJ850 also misses out on the 'half-frames' of the CDJs 900 and 2000, further denting the accuracy of the looping system. More often than not the loops created by the auto-looper will need some adjustment, typically one or two frames, but adjustment isn't the problem. Keeping a loop in sync is impossible, even with constant spinning of the jog wheel. You can get it close, but it's never going to sound perfect."
I have the same problem, i don't think that Pioneer will fix this if they're ever make a firmware update for this player. They're to busy with bug-fixes for the 900 and 2000...
@DJaan94 i made that beat track just to test this problem. its exactly 130 bpm. but even if it wasn’t, the loop function still misses 1 to 4 frames. that’s a fact. either it’s a 130, 60 or 200 bpm.
The problem is that it does not have a cdj 850 quantize. Do not start the loop at the right, the perfect spot. Therefore, the works diverge. Sorry for my poor English.
Thanks for that. it seems like its an inherited problem from the 800's. You would think when they upgraded a player they would sort these problems out. I had a pair of denon 1200's before my 850's and they looped perfectly and at half the price!!!
@LucThaz. iv had this problem, i cant get a loop thats in time. iv asked if its a fimware issue but have had know answer back as yet.!!! What review did you find about the problem??
@crobinson115 well thanks for your comment! again alittle more feedback! i also didnt get any answer from pioneer as well. but you must know i dont agree with this. i spend 1700 euros on these thing, so at least i expect that it works 100%.
@TheV3NOM2009 No. the problem is that the loop is not 4 beats long but 3,9... as you can hear. its getting out beat more and more. so it is the loop function. and i have found a review about the cdj 850 where thay say all the cdj 850 have this problem...

@MrMrDJ3 you burn it on a cd and pit it inside your cdj. and maybe you are able to do it thru USB.
