  • EEEWWWWWW

  • Nice video, I wish I could visit.

  • habibi is actually arabic word, not sure why he called the restaurant that name.

  • What tasty looking food! Thanks for sharing!

    EyeCareProject*com

  • oooh i'm hungry )))i want basturma i sujix)))

  • армянская кухня дерьмо , как и сами армяне))))))))))))))

  • Whats up with the habibi? why not sirelis? sounds more beautiful! Armenian restaurant must have armenian and not arab name!

  • @ainanor I assume that as it is their restaurant they named it as they liked. They were certainly not Arabs inside, they were talking Armenian. Maybe "Habibi" was a more commercial name than "Sirelis"...

  • @ainanor you have inferiority complex? armenians were indigenous to Jerusulum, middle east, before they migrated to caucasus...

  • @FucKkhazarJews Says who you? I can see from your name that you are one" ignorant arab" who needs to go to school learn some history! You also claim Jewish lands as yours, but that doest mean its yours you nomad! Stop making comments on armenians when you have no idea who armenians are and where their homeland is!

  • @Hayaserforeveer That's what I thought, but still they did.

  • @Hayaserforeveer There are no true Scotsmen either...

  • @Hayaserforeveer

Many Armenians are from "The Middle East" and they are multi-lingual people, therefore they have absorbed a multiplicity of vast cultures and languages. A smart Armenian will name his or her restaurant to bring in customers.. they don't have a complex about being real or fake...they know who they are!!!.

  • @Hayaserforeveer A little commercialism can distort just about anything...

  • @Hayaserforeveer maybe they are Armenians from Lebanon!!! that doest make them FAKE!

  • Why did everyone make a big deal when the jews were put in the oven

  • @xcallmethebigggx Because they were people like everyone else.

  • armenian food the best ........!!!!1 latino married to an armenian girl ...here

  • @georgianBBCH

Yes, maconi/matzun.madzoon is authentic Arme nian product ontroduced to the world by Armenian cuople...

    From wiki (in 2 parts)

Yoghurt was first introduced to the United States by Armenian immigrants Sarkis and Rose Colombosian, who started "Colombo and Sons Creamery" in Andover, Massachusetts in 1929.[11][12]

  • @BeautySavesWorld

Colombo Yogurt was originally delivered around New England in a horse-drawn wagon inscribed with the Armenian word "madzoon" which was later changed to "yogurt", the Turkish name of the product, as Turkish was the lingua franca between immigrants of the various Near Eastern ethnicities[citation needed] who were the main consumers at that time.

  • habibi restaurant? why 'habibi'...arab name... and armenian food...lol it's better to change the name I think

  • Thank you for your excellent comment and accept my friend invitation.

  • its a restaurant in sint petersburg;)

  • delicious armenian food!

  • Making me very hungry:)

  • Are you sure the name HABIBI is Armenian? Sounds very ARAB to me...

  • it is arab :)

  • Any Armenian who calls his restaurant a muslim name should get AIDS.

    Sick people totally sick.

  • Habibi means my darling in Arabic, and it is a phrase used by people who speak Arabic, regardless of whether they are Muslim or Christian. I am Armenian Christian from Lebanon and I use that word in everyday language. It doesn't mean its a Muslim word. As far as naming a restaurant, it would be better to use an Armenian name, but that's just my opinion.

  • I see this modest video has stirred up no end of controversy. I must do more Armenia-based videos in the future!

  • @usenetposts Thank u for the brilliant video. I watched many times, and will watch many many times.

    Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Mike

  • @lonelymike Hope you're still watchin'!

  • look, all these stuff - kavurma, xiyar, dolma, kufta - all this is Turkic words (all of them have clear etymological references in Turkic and mean certain things, while are intranslatable to other words in Armenian). How come armenian dish is called by Turkic name? Is not it strange?

  • Actually Turkish has a great many loanwords itself from other languages. That is why it uses letters like "j" and has circumfexes over a and u in certain words. They are not all natural Turkish words, and some don't even have vowel harmony. Words ending in -ma like kavurma and dolma may be with the same Greek ending we see in words like "dogma", "drachma" (which is like an old EURO coin) and "cinema".

  • usenetposts I appreciate your great interest in other languages and culture. But I wish you to research central asian and caucaisan turkic languages as well, which also have -ma ending in kavurma, dolma, sachma, and these turkic languages do not have anything to do with greek language and their endings. I dont think it is right judge from that perspective because then for example japanese, and korean also have those endings of -ma, this does not mean that they have dishes like dolma and etc.

  • by the way -ma ending in turkic langauges makes nouns from verbs.

  • exactly gesiru, quite interesting russian nationlist like you know this, or u searched wikipedia.

  • ha-ha-ha..all armo xachiks are black and hairy like a monkey`s ass...they cant be white or look like greek..dont try to make urself look like white races u mid.east armo rat!

  • you бритаdickhead fuckin racist son of a bitch you can talk shit only in your hood but out of there you are a PUSSY. thats why you get fucked here in US and open your eyes dumbfuck i didnt call you BRAT!

  • lol..ha-ha-ha, u youtube sucker hero russians have one of the strongest mafias in US,while u balck rats go around us here and there just to be close to us and swallow our balls. We use u when we need then dont care what happens next since u r disgusting hairy monkeys to entartain us great nations like us!

  • gesiru-gandon ti a ne ruski, gavarish chto russia velikaya strana, a ne preznaesh kak ona velika, navernoe samoloti Mig armyanskogo konstruktora Mikoyana ee delayut velikoy, when our kings were having dinner parties with Roman emperors, and people were attending amphitheatersn, in the place where is ur russia now, cows were taking shit, u were not even a white monkey then pidr, don't hate other people or be a racist, couse u r not even a race, maybe u will get smurter one day.

  • I hope one day to visit st.petersburg, visit the eatery

  • I see quite a lot of "thumbbombing" being done by Armenia-rejectors on this video. I can only assume that it is your guilty consciences speaking, and that the people voting down the pro-Armenia comments had forefathers directly involved in the genocide. Can you confirm or deny this?

  • I dont know about the Genocide but Armenians also put turkish people down becuase turks invaded Armenia since they saw them as a treat of Invasion. I like Turkey I visted turkey.

  • I like Turkey, I did a whole series on my visits to Turkey, but I would have to stand up for Armenia, as it was a small Christian nation on the receiving end of Islamist bullying fury.

  • They dont its just that Turkey invaded them. as i said armenia had soviet Union planes and tanks and stuff. So turkey though they where a threat not for bullying.

  • blyadi..xachi pedarazi...esli u vas takaya strana to zachem vse bolshe i bolshe priezzhaete k nam....sosali u nas vsegda i xotite eshe sosat da? fuck off to your fucked up armenia u hairy disgusting pricks...u belong to middle east chernojopie tarakani..ot nas xvatet, mi vam dali vse chto u vas est tam v strane, idite shas sami sebya ebite! fuuuuuuu...Rossiya dlya Russkix!

  • You say "Rossiya dlya Russkix" but have you really got jobs to offer the several million Russians who are in the west, who were missing from expected numbers in the 2000 census? I don't think your countrymen will be too happy expecting them to come back if you cannot provide the conditions for them to do so.

  • But even if we forget abt our Urartu Kingdom stil in the early 6th century BC, the Urartian Kingdom was called the Kingdom of Armenia, ruled by the Armenian Orontid dynasty. When Turks invaded our Kingdom in 1071 they were TRIBES!

  • In the trilingual Behistun inscription, carved in 515 BC by the order of Darius the Great of Persia, the country referred to as Urartu in Babylonian is called Arminia in Old Persian and Harminuia in Elamite.

  • The King James Bible Strong's Hebrew Dictionary defines 'Ararat as the following:

'Ararat - of foreign origin; Ararat (or rather Armenia):--Ararat, Armenia.

  • Turks and Azeris didn't exist by the time and can only adopt everything which righteously belong to Armenians and Greeks;-)

  • CilicianAri, thanks for the beautiful video abt our great Armenian civilization Urartu but I can add many more historians there;-)

  • not only bastirma but gavurma here, is also turkic food actully..bastirma means pushed or squeezed or staple in turkish and gavurma is well-fried in turkic languages. armenians took them from azeri or ottoman turks with their original name.lahmajun like doner is turkish cuisine again as everybody knows. from east to the west all turkic nations have these foods with the same namings in turkic here proving everything!

  • lahmajun is 100% arabaic lebanese lmaooo, armenian word for marinate is not bastirma its saxepvi, you fool turks didnt spread the turkic language, turkic peoples are basicly how we all group up europeans lol, turkic peoples begin alll the wat from mongolia down to turkey, although there are acceptions with races like Armenians Persians, and its a proven fact when turkic peoples migrated they would drink horse blood watch history channel :)

  • again its about food here..in wide geography from asia to europe central asian, russian, anatolian and azeri turks have all the foods here with the same names having meanings in turkic language. if u were that "great" nation with ur "great" alpahabet and language u should have had ur own foods in ur own language, or ur "ancient" language would have been spoken from europe to asia in wide geopgraphy.

  • why do you think we always here about Turkeys historty STRICTLY IN THE MEDIEVEL AGES AND NO OTHER AGES!!! because you dont date back far AT ALL, but if you watch the history channel there are three excellent episodes on Armenians, One is Tigraness the great who ruled alll of anatolia, northern persia, and the holy land in the B.C period, second is the spear of christ, third is the early B.C period and how Phrygia Influences Armenia :) thats all stop denieng history your a joke!

  • armos lived under urartu rule and urartus ifluenced armos culturally. this does not mean that urartus were armos. it is written everywhere, even in wikipedia though sources are armenian there. gerogians and other nations as well lived under urartu rule for some time and got influenced, so what? it is only u guys claiming every single good thing on earth as urs because u have psycolgically minoruty-minded problems and want to prove urself to the world.

  • ur history was always living under others` rule and being used by them, like under urartu, romans, persians, ottomans and now russians. it is never gonna change because u were tiny and still tiny to change anything for the world!

  • usenetposts, not only u r fluent in Russian but ur the only foreigner I have ever heard who can pronounce Armenian sounds so correct...ur Russian sounds also r very similar to the native ones...

  • what's the main food? beef?it's totally different from China:)

  • yeah, guess you're right... But if they were in Armenia, they wouldn't be popular :)

  • Indeed. And I for one don't blame the Armenians for that.

  • There is a popular Arabic restaurant now in Yerevan, there is an Indian guy who opened an Indian restaurant, Mexian, etc, Laura jan;-)))

  • what the heck is this??? An Armenian restaurant called HABIBI????

I don't care, this is HARAM!!!

    haha just joking...:)

  • Yeah, I know the name is Arabic and they also offer cuisine to the Arabic market. They are Armenians, but business is business!

  • Печь is feminine. So, you should have said "Kак называется вот такая печь интересная?" :~))

  • So I should.

  • When Turks invaded Armenia and Greece ( todays Turkey) there was a great civilization already with rich ,wealthy culture, traditions and OUR common cuizine which Turks adopted.Even forst Ottoman novel was written by the Armenian in Turkish but with Armenian alphabet. living under Ottoman occupations for 600 years we obviously adopted each others words.

  • If u r trying to say those r armenian food but with turkic names then why tatars and bashkirds of northern russia or central asian uzbeks or uyghurs have the same food?? dont u think think they r big turkic nations with rich culture and have these common foods with the same name all over the world. so it is armenians who adopted not only the name but also turkic cuisine like music and other stuff which is i think is normal when small minorities adopt things from big rich nations.

  • When Armenians had their powerful Empire Urartu many modern nations didn't exist at all and others were still tribes.Ur nation only brought devastation and genocides to others.U invaded us only in 1071 and ur big nation didn't even have its alphabet while ours was created in 405 AD and before that Urartians used their scripts.

  • Urartu was not your empire and they had different language, besides there r many nations in middle east to claim urartu as their own. And u as a member of minority nation which makes u feel weak and have complexes want just to show urself as a member of great civilizations. LOL..we r talking about food here, u mention alphabet! It is pathetic! armos didnt exist as a state or country for the last 2000 years if u want history, that says everything..

  • Our Carahunge was created 7.500 years ago and Urartu/Ararat mean Armenia in ancient Armenian, Hebrew and Assyrian.

Turks not having alphabet only shows how backwards were their tribes. Two main tribes of Urartu were Armen( English name of Armenia comes form that tribe) and Hayasas/Hittite ( in Armenian language our country is called HAYAStan)They ruled Urartu and after collapse of it formed Armeian Kingdom.

  • one more proof of comlexes and weakness...again its about food here..in wide geography from asia to europe central asian, russian, anatolian and azeri turks have all the foods here with the same names having meanings in turkic language. if u were that "great" nation with ur "great" alpahabet and language u should have had ur own foods in ur own language, or ur "ancient" language would have been spoken from europe to asia in wide geopgraphy. its ok, facts remain as facts!

  • From Britannica dot com:

    Armenian Highland

Russian Armyanskoye Nagorye, also spelled Arm'anskoje Nagor'e, mountainous region of Transcaucasia. It lies mainly in Turkey, occupies all of Armenia, and includes southern Georgia, western Azerbaijan, and northwestern Iran.

  • Invading and occupying , inforcing ur language , adopting others' culture doesn't mean u r righteous owners...what Turks have given to the covilization other than genocides on numerous nations? NOTHING

  • :))really?dont show off ur limited minority-based, close-minded, biased and offended attitudes here smtimes try to be honest! though i know it is impossible for u since i have seen ur comments all over the youtube. It feels like as if u r paid by ur diaspora or armo government to spread bad news or comment ASAP on ur nazi-style videos about turkic nations in youtube!

  • i think u should be someone very sarcastic woman! btw i have also seen ur comments btwn ur buddies where u recognize ur weaknesses, complexes as a minority-nation and how shity the situation is back in ur "great" civilzation country armenia and within that diaspora now where they want to make money over genocide stories and fools like u. as u say they keep on getting rich and rich, u keep on leaving the impoverished country and writting and writting on youtube..:)

  • To defute ur Nazi ideologuy against my ppl Armenians don't need to be paid unlike a large Turkish department who works 24/7 and paid by the Govt. Most anti-Islamic websites are hacked from Turkey and of course websites which tell abt Armenian Genocide ...

  • it's not easy to preserve ur words for ur own cuizine, etc when u r getting persecuted for that.Ur words were forcebly imposed on us replacing our words for our cuizine which u have adopted and represent to the world as urs.U have done the same to Greeks.

  • :)) ha-ha-ha...it is the peak of ur complexes here now!! u r very funny! As it is said above in wide geography from asia(where armenians never existed) to europe central asian, russian, anatolian and azeri turks have all the foods here with the same names having meanings in turkic language. how could other turkic nations have the same foods if they have never met ur "great" nation! dont fool people here!

  • by the way these foods r ottoman legacy and popular even in many places of europe and mid east with same names where ottomans have been, armos could only dream about such cultural influence! dont get jealous please though..:)..maybe u should try hard then u could also achieve smt but still u r minority and will be so which means will always be tools for great nations intentions!

  • oh lord have we got another fool that saysd Urartu was not Armenian Language Linguistics PROVE PROVED by HISTORIANS URARTU WAS AN ARMENIAN AKA (HYE) civilization, the propaganda your government teaches you is absolute bull shit and very un-educated, YOU guys however honestly do descend from ASIA and do not belong here VAN WAS AN ARMENIAN STRONG HOLD SINCE 2500 B.C. only during the GENOCIDE WAS IT LOST!!! AND VAN WAS THE BIRTH PLACE OF URARTU! PRO-NOUN historians PROVE THIS!! :)

  • armenians where Urartians you dumb foool lmaooo, read my last post , we never change anything BELIEVE ME ARMENIANS HAVE HAD AND DO HAVE MORE INVENTORS, SCIENTISTS, AND WORLD KNOWN BUSINESS MEN, than ALL OF TURKS AND AZERIS PUT TOGTHER lmaooo, have you seen the famous armenian videos on youtube, or armenian Inventors video i suggest you watch them , HOPE YOU DONT GET TOOO JEALOUS :0 btw i suggest you flock back to asia around the mongolian

  • wikipedia its self says Urartu is an armenian civilization lmaooo M. Chahin Michael J. Arlen

Igor Diankoff all say it was an armenian civilization and many many many more scholars, ONLY TURKS AZERIS AND GEORGIANS SAY IT ISNT and its strictly you three, PERSIANS NOTE IT daruis him self quoted it in 600 B.C Greeks note it, and so di Egyptions, the fact that Turkic peoples in the region are only 1100 years old, HAVE NO relevance to ANCIENT CIVILIZATION IN THE REGION :) lol

  • Read!!! a taste of Armenia not food

  • Very interesting - thanks for mentioning this.

    Habibi.

  • slurp slurp

There is a Habibi restaurant in Saska Kepa on ul. Zwyciezcow in Warsaw as well.

But in Russia there is a fantastic choice of food from the former Soviet republics!

  • Yup. Also known as "the boomerang republics" as many of them are likely to come back again the next time Russia countries up with her friends.

  • and the Russian electorate is about to get the chance to vote on reinventing the Soviet Union!

  • Indeed. Which is more than we seem to be getting for this European one!

  • I would love to have access to good recipes for traditional hand-crafted foods like that.

  • do you eat it with your hands or have they come into the 21st century with utensils habibi!!!!!

    hahahaha ;p

  • We ate mainly with our hands, which is very 21st century. Other than in Australia, where they haven't quite gotten used to knives and forks yet.

  • i am a master with fork and knife haha!!!! habibi!!!! no need to touch the food ;p

  • is Basturma always made w/ beef or lamb too??

  • I'll wait for an Armenian to answer that!

  • Did somebody call for an Armenian? hehe.

Ok, I don't know how much help I can be, but my mom informs me that Basturma (like what is shown in the video) is made of beef only, as far as she knows; however, the state that any type of meat is in when it's being prepared for barbequing is also called Basturma. So that's a bit confusing, and very tasty.

  • many thanks. Does your mum recognise the dishes here and the music as being authentic?

  • My husband is Non Armenian who fell in love with Armenia and asked us to take him to the village where they were makinglavash and basturma, he says it wads done from beef, also in South Africa they make basturma from anything and call it "biltong".

  • That was a very nice artistic arrangement of the dishes. Congrats on the weight loss!

  • The table was beautifully set & the dishes arranged so attractively. The music so mellow & soothing. What was inside the lt. bl. & beige decanter & what was the golden drink? Mary, the ? box.

  • The decanter had that fermented milk drink called 'tkhan' which is a bit like kefir, and the golden drink was "Duchesse" which is a Russian pear-flavoured lemonade.

  • Looks like you lost some weight.

  • I've lost 22 lbs so far, thanks for noticing!!

  • How many languages do you speak?

  • A good 20, and a lot more if you count just a few phrases, but Armenian ain't one of them. What you hear me speaking here is Russian, and a few Armenian phrases after my friend, but I haven't been able to learn most of those phrases by heart yet, neither have I mastered their rather beautiful alphabet. Did you like the music?

  • People who speak other languages amaze me. Are you familiar with the book Scotch and Holy Water by John D. Tumpane? He had an ear for languages. Yes I liked the music very much.

  • More Armenian music coming up in later films. I'll look out for that book, although I hadn't heard of it.

  • Don't worry, Lord Byron made up for u speaking perfect Armenian and even was one of those who created Armenian-English dictionary, ur British, aren't u?
