1:35 when i try to move one part, the part above moves as well, i tryed everything to move just one but i cant resolve this problem. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
@lordferius If you recorded your track in stereo using 2 mics then it would look like there are 2 tracks when in fact there is not. It will record 1 mic in the left channel and the other mic in the right channel. If this is the case you cannot move the channels. It is only 1 track. Otherwise, you can move multiple tracks around using the mover tool.
Your tutorial helps me out with syncing but...When I first open Audacity and haven't don anything with my file after doing so, everything works fine. So when I do my first edit, I have no problems. But after that, after using ANYTHING (in my case, Time Shift Tool), or after touching any other thing, Audacity doesn't want to co-operate. That little sign appears that says you can't do the edit you want to do. You know, that white circle with a stripe through it. I dont know what I do wrong..<n<
@dragonz0and0horsez Not sure bit I know 2 ways this could happen. I have seen this before but usually it happens when you are playing a track, pause it and then try to edit it forgetting it is still playing. You have to make sure you hit the stop button before you can edit it. Another possible cause is if the file or track is open in another program.
can some1 help me. evry time i record with hyprecam the audio is always out and my freind told me 2 use audacity but i don't know what 2 do. please help
@1996Prashant Not sure what that could be but make sure that your sound card is set to the device you want to record from and that the preferences in Audacity are set the same way. Sometimes you need to exit Audacity to set the sound card up properly.
@jorma0907 Not sure what you are asking but I think you lost a project in Audacity on Windows7? You need to know what folder you are saving your projects. Also, do not move the .aup (your prioject file for Audacity) file since it is associated with files in a subfolder. If you did just move the .aup file back and you should see your tracks come back when you open it.
@Rachgurl324 Should not unless you are doing big projects. Anytime you use multimedia (audio and video) on your computer it can use up a lot of RAM on the computer.
well, i use this on windows 7 and whenever i try something (play, pause, record, ect)it says; 'Error wwhile opening sound device. Pleas check the input device settings and the project sample rate.'
@xBlackRoseWhiteRosex I get this error when I setup my audio device in Windows while I have Audacity open. Try setting your device in Sound Options (I have a video describing how to do it as part of this series) in Windows and then open Audacity and setup the device under Preferences for Audacity. If it still does not work you may need to update the driver for your device (audio interface).
@am2k9 Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Not familiar with Triton but if you explain what trouble you are having I'll try to help. 1st step: Check the web site for the triton device you have and see if you need to download a driver for the device.
Hi Tom, I'm trying touse my audacity to record from my computer but my input device is not active. Do I have to plug in a microphone in order to use it? Are you plugged into a microphone? What if i want to record a song from youtube?
@Chubbycheeks68 If your input device is not active then it might be disabled. Check your Sound Settings. In Windows 7 it is under Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound. On the Recordings Tab the Microphone should be listed. Just right-click and enable it. Good luck.
Two thumbs up Tom. I just purchased my new hp windows 7 computer and I look forward to putting my old audeo tapes onto cd's. Can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing this wonderful how to video with me. Wish me luck as I am not computer handy!
@TheShotzie So glad you find the videos useful. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. If you have trouble you might have better luck ripping cds in iTunes or Windows Media Player.
Thank you, Tom. This was very helpful. I appreciate how simply and clearly you explained and demonstrated this program. Because I am not technically oriented, I appreciate it when people teach at a rate and level I can clearly understand.
@lahaefta That depends on whether you are using XP or Vista/Win7. 1.2.6 is fine for XP computers but you should use 1.3 beta if using Vista or Win7. I found 1.2.6 occasionally crashed on Vista.

This program is needlessly complex. I can't even find a way to save a file in .wav format anymore. That's how needlessly complicated it is.

can you mix multiple tracks with this program?
1996Prashant 9 months ago
@1996Prashant You can record multiple tracks and mix it together. Not sure how complex you need it to be but it is pretty powerful.

@reymysteriodx2 Yes, as long as you have a mic on the headset that can plug into the mic jack on your computer it should work.
