  • could you plases do more lesson here in C.BTW I got me a marine band after listening to you lol

  • In almost every lesson Adam shows us that he has FORGOTTEN more about Blues than 90% of the players out there ever learn to begin with. Adam, how do you find the time between your duties at Ole Miss, your touring and camps, and family life to put out these videos? Not just vids.. but CARING vids. I'm just some guy in Ohio you never met, yet I literally feel that you want ME to learn. Amazing. Thanks for your love!

  • @clarktferrill I'll tell you what i don't get...... The fact that you have people like Adam who take the time and effort to post new videos on here constantly, trying to help others out who are learning, and all you can do is complain.

If you can take even just the smallest part of what he is showing from the hundreds of videos and use it to help you improve then surely thats a good thing. Try sending a complaint when you have paid to watch the video you moron!

  • @clarktferrill also if your a beginner you should try learning basics before tackling this song. i learned alot from this video but i already had a good understanding of the harp.

  • thanks adam! these licks are great and learning them helps my phrasing when I improvise. I seem to do the same kinda stuff over the IV alot. need ideas there.

  • @clarktferrill Jack ass... did you watch and *listen* to the video all of the way through? Jeez.

  • @clarktferrill: You might want to take a look at "C. C. Rider" 2 before losing your mind. I do a little teaching here and there. :)

  • @KudzuRunner Welcome to youtube. Where people HATE YOU for spending your own time trying to teach total strangers when something does not fit their OWN need.

You play a mean harmonica sir!

  • wow just wow

  • Just descovered you and "Satan and Adam". I am a guitar man but immediately bought a blues harp now and gonna learn it. You are a fantastic player!!!!

  • Grande Adam, obrigado pela aula! Quando vem ao Brasil?

  • what key is that harp

  • @tjk728: key of C.

  • very fresh!

i dont know if you told us, but it is this a C harp?

  • Gefällt mir ´der hat was drauf !!!

  • Hi Adam...

Im trying to understand the importance of the coughing, and you clearly say " you need a way to ge that air out" so does this mean you are coghing to get the air out WITH OUT sounding a note? and is coughing somehow a faster technique to exhale the air then simply blowing? im guess im just looking for a lil more clearification on what the coughing accomplishes. Thank you so much for the lessons they are PRICELESS!!! you are a beast on the harp my friend!

  • Gut und interessant gemacht - DANKE vielmals - Daumen hoch -- Gruesse ruevo

  • WOW, wish I got this 10years ago, while I was still a kid, because we have not much, where to learn harp blues from in Lithuania,. We have some really nice BLUES stuff but it's so few, take a look at these guys SENAS KUINAS on YOU TUBE ;-) Now I'm staying in canada and what keeps away from homesick is a harp, I'm really glad that you did such a huge job on making these wideos, It's a really big boost for keeping blues alive blues is in you're heart, not only in a Delta ;-)

  • dang, u crazy!!!

  • sos uno solo con tu armonica...felicitaciones desde argentina buenos aires viva el blues,...

  • i wish i had this man's resolve

  • Adam, you are a wonderful teacher, and an inspiration. Thanks to you, I am improving a little every day. Respect.

  • Wunderbar Adam! Can see why this emptied evrything out of you. Just noticed something very subtle (having taken first footsteps onto electro-harp) that was invisible to me before: your thumbs rapidly change position from the hole-ends to the sides depending on what seal you need. As if there isn't enough to be thinking of! Take care, Mark

  • Just going to start picking up the harmy, nervous, nonetheless i am going to beat you in time :P

  • You let me know when you get to that level and I'll yank you onstage and beat you with a harmy.

  • @KudzuRunner Awesome, I would pay to see you have an epic Harmy Duel.

  • Wow Adam, that is some awesome and pretty intense playing! When I'm trying to play that intense, I get a little light in the head ;) Anyway, thanks for your lessons! I'm doing better and better on my harmonica

    Greetings...

  • Great stuff, very helpful! Where does that tone come from? I'm working with a green bullet and a pignose, so I can't do much to alter it that doesn't come from my hands or mouth...

  • how about a lesson for shanty?

  • Man I wish I could play with your intensity.

Not just the music intensity, but the your intense movement. Man that contributes as well I think.

  • F... I clicked 2 instead of 5... sorry. I rate this 5/5.

    Nice riff.

  • holy shit that sounds like an electric guitar this is great

  • Hey adam, first of all thanks for this terrific lesson, I've mannaged to get everything you've thrown at me up until about 2:15 where you start getting more into using TB'ed octaves. and the higher register,

Which brings me to my question, in some other vids you talk about a slowdowner app, do you have a link to it? (oh and does it run on windows?), thanks.

Hopefully with that I should be able to continue to rip some more licks from this lesson without looking at the spoilers ahead,

    Thanks!

  • I don't know if if runs on Windows. You should be able to find it by googling "Amazing slowdowner" or "amazing x"

  • @lizardmantsc It's out for mac and PC.

  • Hi Adam,

Just wondering: after that "chirpy" bit around the 9 hole at 2:35 what are the holes you use to come down? They sound sort of dissonant, and i cant work it out.

    Thanks.

    Clearie

  • Does anyone know the happ tabs for Old Crow Medicine Show's version of CC Rider and/or know where to find them? Reeeeally want to know. Thanks.

  • i WANT TO LEARN 2:36!

  • Bravo (big clapping!!!!!!!!)

  • rOCKIN

  • yOU nAILED IT

  • i have ahard time counting the 12bar blues on this one, can anyone help me?

other thing i dont know: its 2draw for the tonic(I); 4draw for the IV and 4blow for the V the only notes that feet well?

    thanks

  • HOLY SHIT!! I have never played a harmonica but have always loved the noise they make and i have heard alot of harmonica players and your hands down one of the best

  • Loving this one especially... taking my time on it before moving on to the next parts.

  • badass lesson keep on teachig gussow

  • how???

  • thanks mr adam i really enjoy your lesson i learn a lot of your lesson!!

but this one is so difficult that 1 bend

  • Good job Adam! Downloaded some of your begining lessons actually getting this stuff.Blowing my freinds and family away! LOL

    Thanks

    Walt

  • Fantastic! That's what I like to hear.

  • man, it's almost impossible for me to bend that 2d like you are, i've been trying for 3-4 days and i suck, how can i get a clear note?

  • q cara chato

ele toca bem, mas nao se acha mais nada de gaita por culpa desse viado

  • You good, liked it...

  • Shit, I had always thought John Mayal was the man of the harmonica, I was wrong.

  • wow!

  • I especially like the tip about coughing, Alot of the time when I play I take in alot of air and never know what to do with it. Great stuff man.

  • GODDAMN you can play that harp. I hope to have even a fraction of your skill before I die. Great song too, love it.

  • another question:

when i bend my 3, 4 or 5 hole draw i can do it with just using the shape of my mouth but to to get my 2 draw to sound like yours i need to use my stomach....is that what most people do or eventually should i be able to bend it just like the other holes?

  • Good question. I'm not honestly sure what other people do. I use my mouth, not my diaphragm (stomach).

  • how do you make your one draw and one draw bend sound so seperate when you break it down? mine sounds the same but really blended together.

  • i think i just realized what you do, you use that "ta" thing ..

  • Yes, that's right.

  • Thank you Adam. !!! Thank you so much !!!

  • Good blowing :D:D:D

  • You have to redirect the angle of the passage of air lower into your throat. And making different words/shapes with your mouth by dropping your jaw and making more of an "ooh" sound with your tongue often give you the bend you need.

  • what do i have to pronunciate to make the 2 draw into a 2draw bend? ¿io? please help me

  • try saying hey you in different temopo's and sucking in. I have nothing to do with the person who did this video but that did help me to bend

  • thank you very much

  • I'm earmarking this one for future study Professor although I'm getting overwelmed with information, all of which is great stuff. Thanks again for your generosity!

    GT

  • Gave me a heart attack just watching it!

  • Wow! You're gonna break my laptop's speakers! So how can we get "Harlem blues" south, way south of 125th st? I'm in Mexico.

  • thats the best blues harp i ever heard - what mic are you using. I realize its the Indian & not the Bow as another guy on you tube would put it

  • Shure PE5-H

  • Adam...

Once again...tremendous harping. Hope to see ya in Clarksdale this Spring.

    Big Al

  • this was my face after watching the jamming part:

    :-O

  • WOW...WOW...and WOW AGAIN!!!!.....:)

  • Holy crap! You kicked that song's ass!

Pleeeease watch my harmonica / beatbox / didgeridoo vids!!

  • Adam,

My name is Jeff from Yuma, Arizona and originally from Imperial Beach Califoria, where at a young age of 10 I taught myself how to play the harp. I used to play alot of jams with my older brothers band, but once I left to serve in the military I kinda walked away from the harp although I have always remained a blues listner and fan. What key harps would you recommend for me to pick up and get back to practicing? Also what would be a good mic and amp?

    Jeff

  • Google "harmonica mics" and "harmonica amps" and you'll find several terrific sites. As for harps: any 10-hole diatonic harp that feels good to you is the right harp. I'd probably get something between B-flat and E-flat.

  • Thanks for the tip and I will check it out! I forgot to tell you that I am now 48 and much more out of shape and don't have the lung capacity that I did at 10 LOL! Thanks again for what you do here online!

  • Hi, I am Olek from Poland. Thank you for your lessons. They gave me much more than books :-). Thanks, Adam!

  • great but much too advanced for me at the moment.

  • Used to play sax too, although I didn't like sax much, I switched to guitar. Love this harp though, me and my band guy played a song today, I couldn't even believe I could keep up with him, like I only had the thing for a couple hours ha ha.

  • Just bought the harp and this is my first lesson... jeese this thing is fun ha ha

  • Not to compare myself with Coltrane--ha ha--but starting your harp career with this particular version of "C. C. Rider" is like starting off your sax career with "Giant Steps." "Oh Suzanna" might be a better first tune.

  • I use ot play the harp quite frequently, i think after 2 or 3 years you've inspired me to pick it up again, now i can add it to plaiyng guitar! Thanks man, you are talented.

  • super génial pour progresser ... merci pour la leçon !!

  • man your the best and ive learned alot will be looking for more thanks dude ...

  • If you are a harmonica player or would like to become one and you have not listened to everything this gentleman has to say and play at least 10 times...

    Shame on You !

This guy is as real as it gets and from his teachings alone we could fill the world with great harp player.

    "GOD BLESS YOU SIR".

    Rocky "The Harp" Perryman

  • Adam, thanks for the great vids, and for spreading the art of blues harp techniques and methods.

  • High, Kuduz

    Thank you, i´l try this!

    have a good 24

  • All I have to say to your music is wow, it's is truly amazing, I never thought that such good music could be played using a harmonica. I'm definatly going to look for your music in stores, and if not there, then I'll keep looking because I definatly need some of your music in my iTunes library. Thanks for the music, I love it! Loyal fan from this moment on, Wolf.

  • Thanks. Please take a look at the three small icons near the bottom of the first long column of info on the left side of my channel. Those are the three Satan & Adam albums. The icons take you directly to Rounder Records's ordering page....

  • You're doing a noble thing here. These vids should go in a bomb-proof vault. Please keep it up.

  • great vid! i really love the ones where you break down the licks and show exactly which notes you are playing along with the rhythm. i find it really hard to figure out rhythms from books. keep them coming :)

  • Hi Adam, greetings from London U.K. Thanks for these lessons, they have been a real eyeopener. Having trouble with this one though, that C harp 2 draw just won't bend, but o.k on a D. I'll have to go back to your tutorial on re-tuning. Can't wait for video 29. thanks again

  • Great Adam, Great!

  • but where is the 025~027 ??

  • .025 and .026 are the Blues Harp at the Crossroads lessons. I"m uploading the third in that series, .027, this morning.

  • I think you are a good teacher!

    thank you very much ^_^!

  • FYI, All of Satan & Adam's albums are on ITunes:)

  • Adam, thanks for the lesson. It really sinks in when you dissect the riffs like that, slowing them down, breaking them into sections then pulling it all together at the end. I'm looking forward to your next piece of useful info. In a future lesson, could you elaborate on the how to of the "cough" and other useful mouth sounds/shapes? And thanks again for your cool guidance.. :-)

  • Great lesson! Thanks.

  • Listening to this one... well, I see I gotta do a lotta work on my foundation. Not trying to play like you, just wanna rip you of and make something of my own! ;) Props to you, man!

BTW what ever happened to Gussow.027?

  • Ah, you're paying close attention! I've kept that one in the can. I wanted to give intermediates and advanced something like this, since the Crossroads lessons are more oriented towards people at the beginning of the journey.

  • These lessons have given me so much to work on and add to the stuff I already know. The things you are giving us are the secret spices that make all the difference to our playing. Thank you so much for all these lessons, I keep going back over them again and again trying to get that sound. The energy you exude when you are playing is inspirational. Great stuff, keep it coming!
