  • Just wondering: Why is the child holding the breath? I thought one of the purpose of the aerochamber is that the patient doesn't have to hold the breath, but can breath into the aerochamber as well.

  • @songa520 There are several types of Aero Chambers. The AeroChamber with a mask is meant for people who have a difficult time inhaling after actuating the MDI & holding their breath. This is often young children and sometimes the elderly. Someone else may hold the mask over the young child's nose and mouth and actuate the MDI. The young child breathes in and out 6 times. The AeroChamber with a mouthpiece is meant for people who can coordinate the movement of inhaling & holding their breath.
