crash is a great film people dont like it because it touches on a a touchy subject matter.now in youur opinion crash is the worst and thats fine but for me slumdog has nothing to it it has no depth to it nothing to take from it nothing that blows me away or anything like that its good but thats about it
what? you say exactly which means its my opinion then you say fuck u i dont undetstand what you mean. slumdog was not rouching to me it was fake teenage love nothing more i thought benjimen button and walle were both more romantic and touching. for me slumdog moved to fast and did give me enough time to make a bound with these people.thats my opinion its evey bit as valied as yours
for me, the best picture should have been won by the reader, sorry slumdog fans but i think, everything's done great with the reader. kate's really convincing and kross did pretty well of course fiennes great
It shows the reality of the slums. but thats not all of india. most of the population of india is middle-class and that is somewhere between slumdog and all those rich indian movies. it shows one aspect and thats all it should be viewed as... no one movie can sum up such a huge country and its varied cultures
it only won because of libtard hollyweird trying to still kiss the ass of terrorist countries. that's the only reason. and it won't work. this idiot in office will surely cost many more American lives just like that moron bill cliton. so 4 u fools that voted for osama jobiden laden....your day is comming.
slumdog is d best among d best.....it deserves 2 win ....though it potrays the reality of slums of my country.....but still tats the truth......so far everyone made movie on rich indians......our culture....our heritage....but Danny approached in a different way...which led him to a path of victory...which includes many BAFTA's ,GOLDEN GLOBE's...etc.....& most precious of them all 8 OSCARS.....
The Reader - sucks, why is it nominated?i don't know.
Curious Case of Benjamin Button - everyone walked out of this movie saying "did you see the special effects, HE LOOKED OLD!" translation: it sucks and won't win
Slumdog Millionaire - stunning. the most triumphant and energetic movie to come along in years. it deserves to win.
I finally saw Slumdog Millionaire, and it's OK. It's nowhere near as good as critics and others make it out to be. It's rather repetitive, locked into a question-flashback framework throughout the whole movie. It's predictable and while it has some moving moments, it's rather superficial. The movie could have used some toning down, it could have been more powerful that way. It feels like a movie by an outsider, which is what Slumdog is. It's an interesting idea, but lacks the subtlety it needed.
I dont think it actually matters if a film wins Best Picture or not...I mean look at Shawshank Redemption..It lost to Forest Grumps, yet it hold the number 1 spot of the top 250 films in IMBD ...
Look at the Godfather films, they weren't nominated for 8 or 13 Oscars...yet they are considered one of the best films today. ...
I feel the same way about The Dark Knight. Its a sin that it wasn't nominated. ..
I already know Slumdog is going to win -_- Although I prefer Benjamin Buttons.
Even though you're rather brash in your post here, you're right. Gran Torino is one powerful movie that stays with you. I've seen it twice, the last time a couple weeks ago, and I still can't stop thinking about it. I plan on seeing it again. I saw Slumdog, and it's OK. It's not as deep as it should be and grows repetitive, and the ending is predictable. Gran Torino is both sad and redemptive. The acting of the Asian-Am actors might not be the best, but it's a movie greater than its parts.
The Dark Knight really wasn't nominated for any big awards... besides Best Supporting Actor, but everyone knew Heath would be nominated. I sure hope he wins! The Dark Knight was nominated for a lot of sound and editing and effect awards though.
I'm only remotely interested in seeing Slumdog Millionaire, but have had numerous opportunities to see it, but changed my mind each time. As for the others, they seem like the quite often slow, dragging, self-important movies the Academy members crave.
Maybe I'll give it a shot next weekend. I don't like seeing movies with big crowds because usually the more people you have with you, the more likely there's going to be texters and other rude idiots who can't just sit and watch a movie. WHY do people text? Why? Despite there being signs on the door and messages on the screen before the movie starts saying, no texting, no using cell phones during the movie?? If those f'ing texts are so important, don't go to the movie! damn!
With my rant out of the way, I'll write about Slumdog. :) I've heard mixed things about Slumdog. Few movies, if any, live up to the hype. Even, say, Dark Knight didn't live up to it. So, anyway, three weeks ago or so, I was in front of the movie theater, there was a line with about five people in it, and with about 5 minutes to go before showtime, I went up to the kiosk, and it didn't work ! I looked at the line, and knew it would take too long. So I left. Is it big-screen worthy, or a rental?
id say if you have some extra cash and time go see it in theaters but thats just how i do stuff the only thing i ever feel i have to go to the theaters for are action movies anyway otherwise i feel i can get the same effect on a home screen you know like comedies are still funny even if the screen is smaller but slumdog does have a few short action sequences/chases if you want to wait it out though id just save it for a rental
I'll see some dramas at the movies -- I saw Gran Torino twice, for example. Sometimes a drama can feel more powerful on the big screen, but, yes, most of the time, they're best for action movies. Dark Knight was incredible in IMAX, and even great on the "small" big screens. I've found that dramas that want to highlight feelings of loneliness play well in movie theaters. I agree with you on comedies. I figure Slumdog will be around awhile, so I might go see it next month.
The Dark Knight should have been best picture.
People deserve to have their faith rewarded!
