As much as this interviewer comes across as a smug asshole (and he does), it make a nice change from most of todays interviews done by the mainstream media , who are so overly deferential to stars, you would think they own shares in their record label.

Gawd I remember that scene at the academy awards. I must have been 12. Believe it or not it was considered bizarre for him to be wearing a tuxedo and looking formal and neat, that's why people were tittering. If he had been dressed as Ziggy it would have been ok. Then when he announced the winner of whatever it was (I'm sure whoever it was is long gone) he took his reading glasses out of his jacket pocket before opening the envelope, resulting in even more tittering. Is there anyone like him?
I know it's a phase but best not to read biographys about private lives. He's never been open about his life so why read half truths and 'stories that are made up'...just enjoy the music!

Agreed! Bowie's tried alternative spiritual practices like buddhism and occultism in the early 70's, but he's never swallowed the dogma and doctrine of organised religion. A great man indeed.

Well Bowie is god!!! As everyone knows...or should do, Very painfull viewing though as at this stage in his life he was going through bad times and black magic and stuff, exorcising his swiming pool cos he thought the devil was in there, ( Angie confirms this in her book) But for a Bowie freak like me clips like this that i never got to see at the time ( Through not being born) are both essential and upsetting.
did you read angie's book then? how was it? I'm reading david buckley's "strange fascination" bowie biography right now. but it looks at david more so on a technical and career analyzing level and doesn't really examine his personal life.
He's either on drugs or very philosophical. But then again some of the best philosophical ideas were made while on drugs. And so was some of the best music. Eh, whatcha gonna do. Ha ha ha. We'll never know which one it is, but one thing is certain. He looks good there, so very very good.
i find what he says very interesting. there is more to it than you think. "a mountain, or a tree, are physical manifestations of forces we are not capable of dealing with" is one of the most intelligent/insightful things i've ever heard anybody say.
