This guy should work for infinity ward or treyarch in the motion capturing equipment for like cut scenes where a helicopter does some bad ass landing sequence.
Besides the Huey being ONE of the sexiest choppers ever made...... this has to be 100%, beyond a doubt, the coolest cleanest most dramatic approach/ landing I've seen to date. Hats off to pilots that do this on a regular basis.

Totally, 100%, beyond a doubt, the coolest cleanest most dramatic approach/ landing I've seen to date. Hats off to pilots that do this on a regular basis.
WOW, amazing, that is skill people! !! !! ! A have a question, I am choosing between educating myself to a regular Pilot (Plane) or a Helicopter pilot! What does it take to become a pilot in European Alps? How many hours, experience about the mountains, medical education, maybe you have to be a local? Anyone with experience or working in the field? I would be super greatfull for any inputs!

Hell this happened everyday working Heli-portable, nice skills but not really that dangerous....try getting picked up off a pad in tight trees slightly bigger then main rotors, now thats hair raising, watching the trees sway back and forth not 10ft from the blades in 80ft. tall canopy
Bell 212 should be nosed down moore in a steep turn like that. It makes the turn steeper and smoother and airspeed remains longer (safety) Also, keep the ball in center, looks better from the ground, and also feels better since the aircraft is in trim and you dont have the sensation of slipping to one side :)
not extreme at all. Weak.

Pretty textbook, flares during the turn instead of straight on, cutting his speed by half when he hits the ground. Experienced pilot.

what's so extreme about it? the pilot's good no doubt, probably ex-military, but this happens all the time.

well risks sometimes are ok, but that was not necesary, ask the pilot about those rpm
RONIOS 2 years ago
I will... and like any pilot flying in high altitudes rpm is always questionable
slednecks17 2 years ago
What is so "extreme"? This is the way it's done. Iv'e been heli skiing since 1979 and this is routine.
jtmcmahan 2 years ago
Dangerous landing?? Uhhh! Routine landing... happens 15 times a day when you go heli-skiing...

I beleive the pilot wanted to lose airspeed so he could land without flaring alot. Probably because if he flared he would lose visibilty in the snow
slednecks17 3 years ago
that is nothing but a normal landing next to skiers at heli skiing. we experienced it 40 times per week...
