Zizek`s argument against Rawls could be called a strawman. He interprets Rawls theorie the wrong way, only to show that its conclusion is inacceptable. Rawls did mention how to deal with protests and how they could be solved in a well ordered society.
Therefore this doesn't weaken Zizek's main argument of justified inequality. The kind of capitalism our lives depent on, may be wrong. This is because of our false view of freedom and comsumerism - wich is planted in our minds.
Zizek's treatment of Rawls is absolutely spot on. The notion of justified inequality is just offensive to anyone not indocrinated in a capitalistic system of value.
That's Thomas Levin. He's on the faculty in the German department at Princeton. He's a specialist in cultural theory, among other things.
