@mo0nbuggy no, it can do it with a close in shot, but it's recommended to go to a .243 winchester as a minimum and up. no point in tracking a hog for miles when it's easier to use something bigger.
@quailvalleyfarm I believe the only wild introduced animals that aren't "meant" to be eradicated on sight are deer in the state of Victoria where they are managed as a game species. In every other state of Australia and every other wild introduced animal, yes open season all year long.
There in Australia you have wild donkeys, wild horses, wild dogs, wild cattle, water buffalo, and kangaroos to hunt, that I know of. What other animals are hunted in Australia? By the way, a .223 is light for shooting something like a donkey, but it will get the job done with good bullets.
@BullittMcQueen1 We have a large number of invasive species , continuing from your list we have a few types of deer ,rabbits,foxes, wild pigs (boar) , goats , if your lucky you'll get abandon sheep , thats about it .
You do have to have permit for kangeroos because there a native , but there in high numbers in some parts .
@drummerShepherd let me guess you got something bigger and just because of that shit on other calibers if you understood ballistics and organic structures you would understand nothing is bullet proof you get need to aim more for smaller calibers a head shot on any animal will kill it with a .223 most people don't want to pay nearly a dollar a bullet anyways he dropped it so wouldn't that make your statement retarded.
YOU'RE AN ARSEHOLE!!!!!!!!!!! WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT YOU FUCKING REDNECK!

@mo0nbuggy - absolutely. A lot of folks hunt pigs in the U.S. with AR15's in .223. It is very effective.

So, is it pretty much "open season" on most/all of the invasive species in Australia?
The State of Texas here in the USA just legalilzed hog hunting 24/7/365 and from helicopters. They want rid of the feral hogs in a serious way.

.223 for a donkey? Might as well throw a rock at it bud.
drummerShepherd 6 months ago
@drummerShepherd
...now, let's put that theory into motion. You throw A rock at me and I'll shoot you with a .223, I'll even let you go first. I'm game!
