snipers are really useful even if they suck. for example lets say there is a single heavy guarding the intelligence, and a scout is trying to retrieve it but he has no chance against the heavy. even if your shot doesnt kill him, he looks up and is shooting at you while the scout is geting in good shots to kill him and you win the game.

The only reason people say snipers are useless is becuase:

1. There are usually way to many

2. They usually all suck...

A good sniper is useful in almost any case....with the exception of turbine maybe....even then though.

Sometimes they are good for distraction too and giving fear to the other team.

Not necessarily. If you use it right you can provide a great deal of assistance to your allies. Like one game where we couldn't get to the last objective because of the turret and sniper protecting it until I gave the engie and sniper brand new holes in their hats smashed the turret and injured the heavy that was hiding there. Didn't capture it immediately but it got us into overtime and we did win.
