Thanks, this really was helpful. I have set up my webmaster tools where you need to upload meta google gives you into header.php, so I did the same thing with this script not realizing it should go into Footer area.. thanks!
Thank you very much! This helped me get GA setup on my wordpress site. I really appreciate this video, it was getting very annoying getting this to work. Thanks again!
This was helpful. I had to wade through a bunch of videos telling me to install a plugin... seriously? I had done this before, so I knew it was a pretty easy cut and paste just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. No reason to install a plugin over this.
Very nice. After hunting around all over the place trying to figure out how to do this without any plugins or having to FTP into my site, and knowing nothing about PHP, your video quickly showed me how to do this. Great job!
That area still shows in the latest version of WP. Trust me, I have like 6 or 7 WordPress sites all up to date.
Your alternative then is to log into your File Manager (web hosting account) and navigate to your /wp-content/themes/your-theme-your-using and edit the footer.php file.
I dont have editor under appearances either. The closest thing is "Edit CSS" but that page doesn't show the footer.php part. Maybe Wp has changed a little since this vid was made ('09). Any tips?
Every WordPress site has an Editor. I'm not sure what's going on there. Can you take a screen shot of what you're seeing and send me the link to view the image?
@WpBlogHost Maybe this a good reason for changing the host. I have no idea how complicated it could be to host a blog by myself. I like that all the spam comments are cached and that makes me feel safe.
Thank you for actually going step by step through this. Other videos we have seen don't explain how to get to some of the menus when it comes to the coding.
Hmmm... Without digging into it, it's hard to say exactly what the problem is. Maybe contact your Theme's developer and ask them that question. They can probably help.
@kachala If you're doing it through your WordPress Dashboard then the button should be just below the text area. If for some odd reason it's not there, you can always log into your web hosting File Manager and use the file editor there to edit and save the file.
Check my videos. There's one labeled how to set up a Google Analytics video. I tried to leave a link in the comment area but I think it's getting rejected.
The reason for the links is that I embed these videos into a blog post and it's that blog post which often times has the copy/paste code people will need which is shown in the video.
I now have been trying to leave a link to the main article in the video's description above.
Very cool and congratulations on the success! Glad I was able to help. Make sure to watch the video on how to create a Google Analytics filter so you don't track your own movements and clicks.
Hi caliopelna20. If you're referring to the editor which allows you to edit your WordPress files (like the footer.php file), it's there.
In WordPress 2.7 and above, you'll find it in the left sidebar under Appearance. If you're using an earlier version of WP then you'd go to Manage and then Design.
Really laid back and non-hyper explanation. Thank you.

@bendonahower I agree. No real reason for a plugin other then the simplicity of maybe monitoring things from your dashboard.

@WpBlogHost I can't find the Editor. I think it just because WordPress is hosting my blog. Is it right?
arnika84 4 weeks ago
@arnika84 Yeah if you're hosting your blog on WordPress then you are stuck with what they have. In that case, you might look for a plugin.

@WpBlogHost you can't add links in comment..
But if the link that you want to leave here is your own video, you can post that as a video response..
Click on the "post a video response" and select your video.

Thanks, fourblogger.
The reason for the links is that I embed these videos into a blog post and it's that blog post which often times has the copy/paste code people will need which is shown in the video.
