Hi! Thanks for posting this version of the song! I've been looking for it for months since I used to sing it at temple when I was younger! Would you happen to have it in mp3?
This traditional tune is performed by Asaph Neve Shalom from his "Welcoming Shabbat" double album. The album contains songs that are usually sang on Shabbat until Havdallah. To order the double album, with a special offer, call: 0509568116
This wonderful liturgical work was composed in the 16th century Ottoman Empire city of Edirne by Rabbi Shlomo Halevi Alkabetz, a Safed Kabbalist.. The author draws much of his phraseology from Isaiah's prophecy of Israel's restoration, and six of his verses are full of the thoughts to which his vision of Israel as the bride on that great Shabbat of Messianic deliverance gives rise.
Blessings to everyone of all persuasions/faiths from the old city of Samarqand!
Excellent piece of work!! Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!
What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Have A Splendid Day!!!!

Hi, beautiful song. I was actually looking for this version for a long time and am happy that I finally found it. Do you know who wrote the melody for this song? I would like to record just the chorus of this song in a video that I am doing. (I would be singing the chorus) Anyway, I think I would need a license for that though. Do you know if this melody is public domain or not??? Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you soon.

@MrEzzywezy Highly unlikely that it originated in the Nozyk, since the Nozyk had a large choir and fine professional cantors, and the custom of those choirs and cantors was to sing a thru-composed cantata-like arrangement, or, that the cantor would improvise on the strophes of the poem and the refrain would be sung by the choir and the congregation. This melody is much more likely of Israeli or Chassidic origin, and while it may be sung in Warsaw now, no way was this sung there before the SHoah
@rachelhyman1 I've been trying to find this version too -- guess it was not as popular as I thought! This is the way my daughter learned it in Hebrew school, so it's the one that's familiar to me too. Thank you, yifatne, for posting this!
@rachelhyman1 I think this song has been sung since the medieval times or longer. I don't know about other countries but I've been told that a song becomes public domain when the person who wrote it died at least 70 years ago.
@yifatne I love this version as well! Benn looking for it everywhere. If you could also send me the MP3 I would be so happy! Shabbat Shalom from British Columbia, Canada.... Simcha

shabbos reflects the souls rest in divine peace. haShem wants to draw
each single soul (nephesh) back to him , from which the Shema stems.
Nobody should be between this eternal love of Elohim and his children.
as jews were are specially chosen and his beloved the eyeapple of Hashem.

However I have been told that this version of Lecha Dodi was first sung in the Nozyk Synagogue in Warsaw.
