toronto is great because instead of showing off that it has fireworks, it spends its money sheltering the homeless and putting food in their mouths. I spent new years in new york city and around time square there is so much poverty that u wonder if all the hype over fireworks is worth seeing people suffer while it happens. lets get our priorities straight, if we do, this year will make a better world.

first. economy is bad so private companies arent sponsoring fire works, second. C.N. tower is owned by a private company and costs the city alot of money to blast fire works off of it, city hall however is city owned so that cost is saved. 3rd. Toronto city budget has never been so low. dont make ignorant comments please, toronto is the best city and its the people who make a great a new years, next time spend your new years in hicksville london and dont come to toronto.

I know the economy is bad but it's worser in the state and they didnt save in their fire works and a big city like toronto (people from every where in the world) should give a good show. the whole world was watching us and of course NY. I like Toronto don't get me wrong. But last night was disappointment. The fire works here in London was longer. LOL can you believe that. It's sad.

I'm so disappointment about yesterday. drove from London to Toronto (city hall) was there for three hours, hoping to seen a amazing fire works and got 40 second of it, wow. What a waste of my time. Shame of you Toronto.

The main fireworks displays are strung out all throughout each saturday in December. It's called the Cavalcade of Lights and the music/entertainment and fireworks are much better than on NYE. I still agree that something else should be done, like a large fireworks display at Ontario Place or something.

Anyway, do a youtube search on cavalcade of lights 2008, they are better.
