  • You have allot friends here in Ireland comrad. I would like to see a celtic union between us , maybe you could save the irish from their own corrupt leaders as well as saving the scots from theirs. All power to you scotland , no matter what happens your always like family to us lot, for whatever its all worth :)

  • help. I dont want to be part of the euro. if Alex Salmond gets teh vote he is going to go with the euro. SAY NO TO EURO, SAY NO TO SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE!

p.s stop saying "a no" I know what you are saying.

  • You put some good points but come on, there's no need to spit on an English top, you could of just said not wear it. What about Celtic fans who sing Irish songs?

  • Free Ireland, free scotland and Free wales i say, the uk is soon to be finished with i hope

  • I can't get a job in Québec. I'll have to emigrate like millions of Irish to find a better life. That says everything.

Long live Scotland, long live FREEDOM!

  • taken from you? pfft, it was the desicion of scottish lords that made the act of the union.

  • Have you ever thought the supporters are from England? you fhud. And that chucky ar la pish is irish you moron not Scottish gaelic.

  • "any country in world has the right to govern itself ".words of wisdom from a very wise , dearly missed Scotsman ruffrebels@hotmail.co.uk

  • @StudentEntrepreneur I know, and furthermore, it was a scottish king who created the union.

  • @NumberDne Least someone know's what they're talking about. A Scottish King sold his own country for the sake of land and minimal power. An independence referendum costs ALOT of money and right now and money we dont have. Maybe this dafty should read his history books. Oil is everything btw.

  • @JapaneseSt33L He knows oil is the only reason he is so hyped up. Its funny how for 270 years the union has been strong and successfull, annd then BP finds oil in the north sea, then people like this guy want to break the union and forget northern ireland wales and england,

  • @NumberDne Dont get twisted :P im all for independence, but at least my reasons are just, and involve some sacrifice and respect to the other nations, Dont worry we'll take our share of the UK national debt :)

  • @JapaneseSt33L we all have our opinion on the union, i personally think the union has basically modernised the modern world and created amaizing new countries such as the Canada, Australia, USA, Newzealand etc. the bloodlines between Scotland England and wales have been connected with all the cross border marriages and relations to a point were we are practically all the same. we are bound on our little island by the sea so to me it would be crazy to break this up.

  • @NumberDne

The Union "modernized the world"? You mean EXPLOITED! Wonderful countries? The United States became a country by fighting a REVOLUTION against the Union! Canada is a backward repressive semi-police state where the French are treated like the Irish of Ulster. Australia started an English penal colony where inhuman incarceration practices where invented, New Zealand oppressed the Maori.

You also forgot to mention Apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia dumbass. Fuck the British Empire!

  • @Mujangga That was the time of empires. Every great nation had an empire not just Britain. Even the USA was an empire after the american revolution which grabbed more land from and killed indians while moving west. When the USA was still a British colony, Britain did not allow indiian land to be taken away from the Indians. British empire was also one of first to abolish slavery. So no, i will not appologize for anything nor will i feel guilty. I hope you enjoyed the royal wedding on friday.

  • @NumberDne

The British forbade native land to be taken away from them? Ever heard of Pocahontas? You say the Americans killed Natives, indeed they did and it was wrong, how does that changes what Britain did?

You say the British outlawed slavery, they also brought slaves to America in the first place and former slaves in the Empire weren't treated any better after their so-called emancipation. Way to revisionize history.

Fuck the royal wedding and fuck you limy.

  • @Mujangga " Fuck the royal wedding and fuck you limy "

err actually mate the royal wedding was one of the biggest things in the U.S media for decades. so really the royal wedding fucks you, not the other way around.

  • @JapaneseSt33L continued... other islands of similar size in the world stick together because there is strength in unity. before this island was devided into three countries we were one nation, Britannia, so a break up of the UK would be taking britain back to an un-natural state.

  • You say you dont hate the english but then at the end you say you would rather spit on an england shirt and throw it in the trash than wear it. I see many people in england wearing brazil, italy and scotland shirts. only hate for england would make you say you would rather spit on the england shirt..

  • Alba Gu Brack!!!!!

  • Before watching this video and reading all comments, I thought Scotland is part of England..

  • I'm a Rangers fan and I was brought up as a Protestant. I despise the union as much as any other.

  • Can't wait for Scottish independence, then we will have our own English parliament!

No Scots telling us what to do and at the same time ruining our economy.

Why should the Scots have two parliaments and England only have one? especially when England is a nation of 40 + million people.

  • @troikagirl there are 50 million in england you spastic. shows how much you know about your country.

  • @scottishlad1987 Why are you so pedantic??..I said 40 PLUS... Million...nobody knows for sure how many people live in England...it depends who you listen to.

    You have a foul mouth,

  • @troikagirl you annoyed me when you said that scotland has ruined the british economy, so sorry if the word spastic offended you but you offended me.

  • Free Scotland,Free ETA,Free Basque!!!

  • Scotsbright,

You recorded this video about 8 months before RBS and HBOS nearly collapsed and the Bank of England provided the banks with £350billion in loans and guarantees to prop them up.

Has your view of Scotland going it alone changed?

Seems to me Scotland is lucky not to be in the same mess as Iceland, surely this is a clear example of the advantage to Scotland of remaining in the union?

  • what a guy

    VOTE FOR A FREE SCOTLAND

  • Very poor quality vid....

  • didnt the scotts join the english army years ago and fight on their behalf. thats what the tourism info said when I went to visit 5 yrs ago. that I did not understand or know

  • @slats1212 The geopolitical situation in Europe during that period often saw Scotland and England fighting the same enemies on the Continent. After the Union of the Crowns under James VI the two nations were pretty much joined at the hip militarily, since their military structure was based on royalty and peer-ship. As a result, Scots did not see themselves as fighting on England's behalf but on behalf of Scotland. Its remained that way ever since for good or ill.

  • I fell asleep half way through it.

  • He can`t get job in scotland,i can`t get a

    job in england.

  • For fucks sake hurry up.

  • 100% agree with everything you said mate. Scottish till the day I die, everytime I see a union jack I am disgusted and want to tear it down. What I say is we vote SNP now for independence then start voting socialist so we can all live free and together.

  • gotta laugh at these english dicks saying things like: you cant do it on your own, you were starving, eating each other, eating bricks to survive, eatin yer granny`s and stuff,

    WHAT LIES!

scotland has always been a wealthy country but for years england (the big bullies)

    have been thieving our wealth,

this is the real truth of the matter, lied to, cheated, murdered, raped, false imprisoned and tortured, any proud english on here hang your heads in shame!

btw slavery is still going on in scotland!

  • If your going to be like that. Then at least explain why the english are "thieving our wealth"

  • @hoopybhoy74 Which one`s are the english?

  • You're forgetting that Scotland joined the union after trying to claim Panama from the Spanish, England had nothing to do with it, you could also say vice versa 'how did scotland get its hand on England' after all - the people of both countries didn't get to vote on it.

  • It seems our nation really will end :( Oh well, we had a good run, conquered a quator of the world together and made the world how it is today. If the Scottish want independance they should have it.

    Good luck from England.

  • No not all of us want Independence, And you seem like a right fucking Idiot giveing up your country like that.

  • I agree I DON'T want Indepedence and I'm Scottish

  • so long as we are in the eu it shouldnt matter

  • SUPPORT FROM WALES,

    WE WANT INDEPENDENCE TOO,

THEY SAY - Your to small and to poor to be Independent?

Ask yourselves unionsts? why are we poor?

Independence is the only way forward

  • scotland rules and if it doesnt get independence am gonna go barbaric on englands ass

  • personally im english and im tired of scots moaning and moaning i wish they would just seperate

  • I'm Scottish and agree with you.

  • the union was approved by the scottish landlords, not the people

  • Why would you want to spit on an England shirt? Isn't that a bit of an odd thing to do? Also... whilst I admire your patriotism... Don't you think it falls a bit flat when you think about how many Scottish MPs are in control of England?

  • Excellent video and keep up the good work 5 *****

  • or maybe we came into te war to help poland? why the bitterness? you not a very happy person? shame. hope things turn around for you.

  • Is there some unwritten rule that says I should be happy ?

  • i dont think i was talking to you. my reply to you was about your question on crukshank.

  • I was unsure of your content where Poland was mentioned, as to question " Where did that subject matter come from ? Who were you addressing that comment towards ?

  • What about Robert the Bruce, was his father a shiester? I Hear you say Tinkerman05 that you say don't hate the English. Well if some nation or authoritarian power occuppied my country. I would hate and resent them. In Lebannon, the Syrians control much of that country. I have heard many Lebannese say they hate the Syrians. Can you blame them ? Don't you think the Irish living in Northern Ireland, hate and resent the English for occupying that part of their island unless there's economic benefits ?

  • Quoting Scarff94. Claiming the Scots raped and pillaged northern England during Crukshanks rule. That may very well be true, but what did the English do the Scots? Crukshank was portrayed from Braveheart as being quite the tyrant. Is there any real truth of this?

  • longshanks was a real fucker, alot of english soldiers were disgusted at what they had to do to the scots. there were some scots who did the same to the english, but it was never ordered by a leader. all over now anyway, i think the unions a good thing, but our government is shite!

  • I would appreciate it, Scottishlad 1987, if you could clearify your description of unions to which state? Like doesn't the MP's in London govern Northern Ireland ? I'm a Canadian with primarily a Scottish background, so I just know a wee bit about the U.K.

  • yeah mp's in london do govern scotland, england, wales, and northern ireland. it doesnt mean they are english though, they are from all over the u.k. and scotland, wales and northern ireland all have their own parliments too, fighting for the rights of their own countries, and england doesnt, so if anything the scales have been tipped against the english. the union of all countries in the u.k in my opinion is a good thing overall.

  • Well, that film was very powerful and morale lifting for me. The feelings that were invoked in me from watching that almost made me conclude that I was there in a previous incarnation, no B.S. Tinkerman05 from your knowledge of history for that time period; Was anything about that film historically accurate?

  • braveheart is shit and so inaccurate

the scotish in that war were worse than the english

the scotish ravaged northern england raped and pillaged

and they werent on the film

  • When I saw the movie BraveHeart it evoked in me so much rage & hatred towards the English/that king of that time period. The Irish have a holiday for St. Patricks and maybe the Scots have holiday for Robbie Burns. I'd like to see a holiday for the Scots for a man like Robert the Bruce or Wallace, instead of these figures of the church. I think that's where Scottish pride for our country can really thrive & unite us. To hell with nobels of Scotland if they want to kiss the ass of the English

  • i love scotland , compared with scotland, england sux, compared with england, france is just a piece of crap, but it's not wise to free scotland from the uk, britian is not a big country in land.

  • yeah, uaually helping the good side, you twat. werent moaning about us when the japanese were sailing south were you.

  • Sad to watch but hardly inspiring. I am as English as English can be and I have only ever been to Scotland twice in my 60 years. It felt foreign to me. Beautiful but - foreign. I didn't feel any kinship with the locals any more than if I had been overseas. Maybe separation would benefit both of our nations. I am curious to know how Scottish independence can bring prosperity to Scotland?

Don't look to the EU: It will collapse in about 5 years anyway and England won't be very sympathetic any more.

  • You speak the truth and I agree with much of what you say.

But how do you break through the barrier of apathy? How do you mobilize people who have given up hope? How will "one day" come, if people are to demoralized to take the first step? How is it possible to get through to people and show them the benefits of independence?

You are right about the oil, too - nice, but not necessary. Freedom always brings prosperity, oil or no.

  • Thanks for your Informed and honest post!

  • Scotsbright - Well said! I hope Scotland is independent soon! Saor Alba!

  • Very well said I agree 100%

  • Im english and i think they should have independence but only as part of the united kingdom england, ireland, scotland and wales should always stand together. its the eu we need to stop. we should have pride together! iv been to scotland, i lived there once. itd help scotland to have there own government! the queen can still be head like shes head now, just more than one prime minister! one for england one for scotland, ireland and wales. just i think we should defend the uk

  • Btw if Scotland becomes independent Queen Elizabeth will still be Queen Elizabeth I of Scotland.

  • Hey Stranger. Nice to see you still flying the flag :-) xx

  • scotsbright you speak very well for Scotland.

  • Same old story in Québec, for now, province of Canada. We speak french, we have a very different culture and most of the french speaker in Québec, we want Independance. In 1995, in the last referendum of the Québec independance, the Yes side lost with 49,4% of the votes. This is a big fight but i'm sure that Scotland and Québec will get their independance sooner or later. VIVE LE QUÉBEC LIBRE! LONG LIVE TO FREE SCOTLAND!

  • In 1650 Scotland had declared for Charles II, which brought about the wrath of Parliament. Cromwell was dispatched to restore the situation, but was out-manoeuvred by the Scots forces under David Leslie. Retreating to Dunbar in misery and contemplating withdrawal, fortunes changed when Cromwell launched an attack after the Scots ventured down from their commanding position. The battle was quickly won. In 1651 Charles II was forced abroad again and did not return until 1660.

  • Culloden was a hopeless place to fight - open and boggy, but crossed by the lines of stone walls. The leaders of the Jacobite army felt they had no choice as their men were tired and hungry after an abortive night-time march. Artillery fire began to weaken the Jacobite force......

  • ...The army's sole chance was to win home with the highlanders' formidable charge and hope to break the government line. However, most of the charge was repelled and where it did succeed, reserves were brought in the fill the gaps. The defeat was followed up by a campaign of pillage, for which the government general was long remembered as 'Butcher' Cumberland.

  • The confused battle of Largs, which saw Scots forces defeat an attempted Norwegian landing, continued the process of consolidation of modern Scotland. The outcome of the battle meant that Scotland gained nominal title to the islands of the western seaboard that had been claimed by the Norse since the days of the Vikings. However, it was to many years (centuries!) before the nominal sovereignty granted by the treaty of Perth was an accomplished political fact.

  • To some, Bannockburn was the battle that defined Scotland. It established the country's right to exist, to maintain its independent institutions. Before, feudal lords owed allegiance to different rulers in different lands and balanced their superiors' demands in their own interest. After, although the position of crown and people was not outwardly terribly different, the idea of the community and realm of Scotland was much more coherent. It was expressed in the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320.

  • Many Scottish battles were 'internal' affairs, civil wars where nobles and clans set about each other. James III alienated a large part of his nobility. In 1488 they organised a coup to remove James and install his son instead. A scrappy and poorly documented battle was fought at Sauchieburn, which resulted in the defeat of the king. After the battle James III was killed in circumstances that were never clear, even at the time.

  • The inhabitants of Scotland enter the world stage at the battle of Mons Graupius, which was fought around 84 AD. The Roman general Agricola had advanced north to subdue troublesome tribes. He won his battle against the tribes at Mons Graupius as recorded by his son-in-law, Tactitus. The words that Tactitus puts in the mouth of Calgacus, the Caledonian leader, have a resonance that has appealed to Scots across the generations.

  • One of the defining battles of Scotland may be a myth, as it is difficult to reconcile known facts, people and other events with the supposed battle. Be that as it may, the fight between the armies of 'Angus' and 'Athelstan' is still remembered. On the brink of defeat, the Scottish forces were revitalised by the appearance of a white saltire in the sky, the symbol of their patron St Andrew, and defeated the Saxon invaders. The saltire remains Scotland's national flag.

  • good man. mon independence.

  • I will never give up too mate !!!

    FREE SCOTLAND!!!
