Mikey - What size tubing did you use? My Camp. queen decided to park herself in the tubes and when the workers prod her to go into the nest she can't turn around so she just sits there. :P
@Godo1313 Our tubes are 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch diameter depending on what nest. Sometimes queens and ants may like the enclosed environment of the tubes. Most of our ants use the tubes as if they are tunnels, which is not harmful. If your queen looks like she isn't bothered by staying in the tube, you should probably wait and see if she will eventually leave on her own when she wants.
i plan on getting a habitat from ur website soon as soon as my nest get bigger i caught a queen and now she has larvae as well as eggs so once it gets bigger say about 30 workers i will then move them to ur habitat(i have them in a large test tube with water near the bottom sealed off by cotton.....)
@Mozers05 It's air conditioned and still okay for the ants, but I have a little bit of heat (about two or three degrees C above room temperature) so the brood develops quicker and the ants eat more.
i caught one of these queens today and i cant wait to see her first eggs!!
