  • Oooooh, tank looks great and so do the fish, but I'm afraid neither the substrate nor the tank mates are suitable; they have no scales so coarser gravel *could* harm it, especially if it tries to burrow. Another thing, dragons are brackish and cannot thrive for a long time in fully freshwater, whereas peacock eels are freshwater and require somewhat different parameters. Try to make it work for the critters too :).

  • i just got mine today ... are yours usually lazy because mine hardly ever moves

  • 210

  • Your camera resolution sucks balls!

  • what type of eel is that? i want to get a violet goby but idk if it will get a long with my fire eel, someone reply if they know thanks.

  • @FckThWrld88 the question is will the fire eel mess with the dragon, the dragon goby is pretty peaceful so if there is enough surface on the bottom of the tank for the to swim they should be fine

  • How do you feed"em?? I'm having trouble..

  • @rkon1000 me too someone said you can feed them bloodworms so thats what im going to do

  • @joeybutts13 are they supposed to float or sink?

  • @rkon1000 the bloodworms sink i doubt they would eat anything that floats. i dont even know how mine are still alive ive had them for 2 months and never seen them eat

  • he looks so healthy! and your tank is wonderful! :D

  • Most likely they hide from the light because they are nocturnal. Morons.

  • do you need light because my dragon fish hated light he always hide until i turned it off it swam and ate

  • I had one of these ten years or more ago. He just dug a hiding space in the rubble all the time.

  • how big is your tank

  • ive had mine in a 5 gal tank for 6 months b for i got enough money to buy a 35 gallon, and he did fine in it :)

  • i hav 2 ther so beast aha..both about 10 inches long

  • How many Dragon gobies should be in one tank? like if its a 55 gal

  • im not even sure if thats big enough. ive heard they need like 70 per gobie

  • Help please I made the mistake of buying one with out reasurch I have him in a 20 gallon tank Wichita will have to do and fresh water it's been two days seams to be doing fine but realy woried about him keps seining to top to gulp air and trys to jump out do I need to change to brakish water his with a molybdenum and a plecostomus

  • mine jumped out...lots

  • @Stark1124

The gulping at the top and trying to jump may be a sign that the ammonia levels are too high. They are particularly sensitive to ammonia.

  • @Stark1124 Dont worry about it that species is basically blind hes just exploring in the wild they sift through mud to find food and if u feed them flakes it will fall to the bottom and degenerate and they find the flakes that have been sitting there AMAZING your a good owner dont worry about it but you might want to move him to a 30 gallon tank

  • i was thinkin a bout getting 1 wen i was at the store 2day

  • and i saw the Danio

  • What is brackish water.

  • its lyk sort of salty (correct me if im wrong)

  • thanks for the info

  • brackish water is slightly salty. It occurs naturally in estuaries where the ocean washes up back into the river. The salt naturally increases and decreases, which is a good thing because salt-water parasites are killed by fresh water, and fresh water parasites are killed by the salt.

In your tank, bring the salt level up and down slowly every couple of months to simulate the natural environment and ensure healthy fish.

  • Comment removed

  • what is "specific gravity"?

  • Specific gravity is just the measurement for how much salt is in the water. The higher the specific gravity, the saltier the water is. :)

  • i got mine from walmart...

  • is it still alive cuz i just got one today.. i have it in fresh water

  • do they eat the little fishes?

  • no, not at all. They are practically blind, so they can't catch anything. They should have sand, not gravel, to filter their food, which mainly consists of frozen blood worms and black worms. They will filter veggie flakes.

  • One of my favorites.. Got a few from thailand for $3.00 each. I never knew i can also find them in the Philippines.

  • Gobies are badass looking. I was gunna get a peacock eel but they are more expensive and always hide...and the fact that dragon gobies are blind is a cool conversation starter! lol

  • They're not really blind, but pretty close.

  • they can see MUCH better in brackish water for some reason!?

maybe its because thats theyr natural habitat??

  • this is dyed correct? just wondering...if someone could respond, thanks.

  • how the hell u find a striped peacock eel?!

  • I got one at Petsmart...

  • these guys are fuckin s pooky!

  • I'm getting one of these tomorrow.

  • don't do it! do some research 1st!

  • I've spent the last two weeks researching; please don't assume I'm doing this on a whim.

  • Trumpet210: Ok good I'm glad you've done your research and know 20 dragon gobies have to die for the petshop to be able to provide ONE for you.

    Good stuff...

As long as you know. Cuz I feel really bad about buying mine but he's fortunately healthy and so was the other one that lived with him in the tank.

    Good luck

  • Yeah, we got him last week, he's doing fine. We've had a freshwater tank with mollies, but now that the Goby's in there we've started converting to brackish. Any suggestion on how fast we can raise the salinity? I know the gobies are pretty hardy and can handle salinity changes since they live in the estuaries, but is a speedier transition going to be hard on the mollies?

  • I would suggest from fresh to the salinity best for gobies, about 3-4 weeks. But it can be done quicker, and I don't think it would hurt the Molliles.

  • if thier out of the wild then small fish and worms

  • anyone kno wat to feed one out of the wild ?

  • wow i have two of my own dragon gobys, there about ten inches long an i house them with my new bichir. since there about the same size they dont mind each other and follow each other around

  • Aren't bichirs freshwater, and aggressive? Violet gobies need brackish water, and peaceful tankmates.

  • wow, if u didnt know, tetras are also known as "feeder fish" in the gobies eyes, that said, i think its amazing how ur eel can swim, mine is fat & lazy so he goes straight up for 2 seconds and falls back down. And pellets r da best food for the gobies, first they eat alot, then get too fat -_-

  • retard, dragon gobies dont eat other fish like tetras they r 2 picky in fact one of its best tank mates is the 1 inch bumblebe goby

  • hey so i noticed you have some tetras in the background. what setup are you using? how much salt can the tetras tolerate?

  • go on dragon goby on google it tell yu stuff about dragon gobys

  • hey i just got 2 of these dragon gobys about 1 day ago, can any one tell me if they eat fish flakes or pelleted food beacause they dont relly seem to eat. is there another type of food i feed them, beacuse they seem to refuse to eat.

  • well most fish don't eat right after they've been put into a new tank, and dragon gobys only eat meaty foods. try frozen blood worms

  • i used to have a 14 inch dragon fish before he died.

  • i didnt know you could keep it alive in fresh water

  • You can, but not for its whole life. They move naturally between fresh, brackish, and even saltwater, so they have to be very tolerant, but eventually, they need brackish water. Not having it makes it difficult to osmoregulate, and the immune system becomes weaker. In this weakened state, they are prone to diseases like red tumors that kill them.

  • i have one, and i named it kraken.

  • I loved mine. My mom freaked the first time she saw him, she thought he was a snake. lol

  • I had a violet goby that was a foot 1/2 long, but he died.

  • haha theirs a eel burried in the gravel xD

  • COOL
