I notice that CD Master - Exciter and Widener only has 3 bands, why wouldnt you always choos esomething with 4 bands? it seems to be more helpful, also what do you recommend as a preset to start from for trance/house music? tahnks
is there a way to use the reverb separately, as an aux buss to which you send different amounts from individual tracks and at the same time mastering with this plug-in.
I understand how you can do it by loading an instance of ozone on a send track and another one on the master track, but that seems like a waste of cpu.
if the vocal track is turned up in you DAW and its still getting drowned out, you need to re work your mix. The easiest way would be to simply turn down all the other tracks and then get your vocal volume right, but you could also EQ your vocal track so it comes forward in the mix

im still having trouble with blending ,like do I need to follow a certain frequency so that they will blend .im doing drums rythm guitar bass then lead ,its instrumental..
can you give me the basic frequency to follow like bass, percussion, guitar...cause im new to this sorry..
@guillomendez If u are on reason only... well, No! reason is a closed system no vst/audio units etc... but if u have another daw like logic, ableton live, cubase and so on... u have 2 different ways to use ozone: 1) export a wav/aiff file 24 bit from reason and import to your daw then add ozone to the track and bounce! 2) rewire reason to ur daw and pretty the same as point 1 :D
@brokenspud thanks for the info man!! i was having a bad time trying to set up reason with ozone! I'll try to rewire it to live and hope it works thank u again!
This was hugely helpful. I just downloaded the Ozone demo and the interface was overwhelming at first. Now I feel ready to get in there and explore it.
what system are you using? im on windows 7 64bits and it runs awfully...it uses around 60% of cpu when im using it, which didnt happen when i was on xp 32 bits.
guess i should go back to a 32 bits system, unless theres a way to fix that?
I'd say it quite easily be the 64bit OS. I run three dual core machines for most of my work, and I've found that Ozone uses maybe 15% of my CPU at most on the slowest computer. I've tried it with both XP Pro x32, Vista Business x32 and Vista Home Premium x32, and have never had the issues you describe.
There is little different between using Ozone with either Ableton or ProTools other than the fact that Ableton uses VST or AU plugins, and ProTools uses RTAS. Ozone supports all three standards.
Basically, both Ableton and ProTools will allow you to use Ozone, and both will also allow you to automate and control the parameters of the plugin.
it is a great tool, but also live has great mastering tools , i just try out the demo version of izotope, must say alot of effects of izotope are preset in live 8 (suite) so i dont know if i should buy it.

@kerryzhang
get a better CPU if your Rig cant handle it. Sound engineering requires a pretty powerful set-up at the professional level

How Do you bring out the vocals of a hip hop track using Ozone It feels Like the vocals are not loud and it gets drown out from the beat .

so it's best to master the beat and vocals separately?
fiyuckyiu 1 year ago
I would
Antisaint46 1 year ago
@fiyuckyiu Mastering itself is about processing the all of the elements as a whole, but ozone is good at also processing individual elements too.

How do I install Ozone into Ableton live? I'm telling it what plugin folder its in, but it doesn't seem to detect it...

now i have to go back and master everything -_-

can it just do stereo or can you do surround sound with it too?
soccerxfusion123 2 years ago
Unfortunately Ozone is only designed to process stereo material. A surround version would be awesome!

hardly touches my cpu ;D:D:D:D heheh. had to say.
as its a mastering process, try mixing down your audio to wav, then use it.
TurKdiRty 2 years ago
Just make sure you mix the audio down to a 24bit or 32bit wav file, otherwise you are throwing away a whole pile of audio quality.

I agree that Live has some awesome effects built in, but nowhere near the control of Ozone. There is a few things you don't get in Ableton:
- Proper maximisation.
- Four channel multiband harmonic excitement, expansion, compression, limiting and stereo imaging.
- Mid-side EQ, reverb, harmonic excitement and dynamics.
Not to mention 64 bit effect processing, all in one plug-in.
The best tool for the best job! Ableton may be awesome in most areas, but it can't process audio like Ozone can. :)
