At 34 sec. I love the way Nick Reynolds of KT shows he's a bit upset by the surrounding serious guitar players or supposed to be.They didn't take themselves seriously but entertained millions of people.Great group!
Kingston Trio Johnny Cash and the Everly Brothers, plus Roy and Dale, Minnie Pearl, "Lonesome" George Goebel, Ernest Tubb (No Texas Troubadors) Dinah Shore in the fluffy dress. Trio is Nick Reynolds (shorty) ,Dave Guard, and John Stewart who cracked all the jokes! See Trio shine on Hungry I, their hottest live and loaded concert. Copas,En El Agua (I'll Throw You In The Water) and others. TUFF!
I second your reaction! But the third member of the Kingston Trio is Bob Shane, the last one living. John Stewart replaced Dave Guard (the tallest one) when Guard left in 1961.
If those people appeared at scale, imagine what the cost of that single production must have been! Some of the biggest names in music at that time! I'd have watched it for the Kingston Trio alone, but Johnny Cash and the Everly's, plus Roy and Dale, Minnie Pearl, "Lonesome" George Goebel? Wow.
@CadillacL I was about to say the very same thing. Ever see 'Rhythm On The Range'? It includes a number that features Bing Crosby, Martha Raye, Roy Rogers with The Sons Of The Pioneers and the guy who came up with the bazooka, among others. Wow, wow, wow!
I can still remember Corn Flakes had a contest in which the winner won an '59 Chevy just like this one. I entered the contest, but didn't win. I heard that when you drove this car, the fins lifted the rear end up.
Where in the name of all that's sacred did you find this, seansvoice? I thought I had seen just about every video out there of the original Kingston Trio - but I've never seen this. What a lineup! THANKS!
