have glowlight tetras to! (4) :3 and 2 gupies and four of these orange with a black strip down the middle tertas. and two apple snails ^.^ they very gd togeher!
Oh my gosh mine had two babies last week and the snails are both yellow but the babies turned out dark and five minutes ago one baby snail was riding on top of the mom's back. It was soooo cute :]
I bought 3 new snails for my aquarium that contains 4 mollies and 2 rosy barbs. My fishes always teases all the 3 snails. Now they dont come out of there shell. They are in there shell for almost one day. Please help!!!
The rosy barbs are renowned for being a bit "nippy" you should have a group of 5 or more ideally they are real shoal fish. I googled "rosy barb" and it gives lots of information no them.
Are there rocks/bogwood for the snails to hide away in out the way? Maybe you might have to take the snails back to the shop if the fish won't leave them alone?
Yes there are lot of places to hide for my snails. Its not actually rosy barb who try to nip them its the MOLLIES who tease them. Normally they dont do anything to them as soon as they try to come out they start nipping them. I thought may be thats the initial aggression that my fishes are showing but its been 4 days now and they still dont leave them alone. In my local pet store i saw them going well with mollies but dont know what the hell is wrong with the fishes in my tank.
@harryvirgok38 harry, do your snails have green fungi on them, becuase mollies are bottom feeder fish, then eat the green stuff, they are not nipping them, they are eating the green stuff :3
I'm not sure sorry, peaceful fish like Tetras maybe? I have neons, glowlights, head and tail lights, plus guppies and corydoras amongst others. I only have 1 platy and that is a bit "nippy" with the snails. If you watch my other newer aquarium videos you can see the fish I have.
Hey man i'm breeding apple snails (or trying to) and i have some black/greenish shell ones and the golden one) and wanted to know if the 2 mating in the vid are actually the same species and can produce fertile offspring?
Yes they are the same species "Pomacea bridgesii" and the offspring from this mating (1 year ago I posted this video) have just laid eggs and I have over 200 baby apple snails so they are definitely fertile. They don't breed until they are 12 months old or more.
Ah cool. i have a couple questions since im really serious about trying to breed them. 1) Does the tank Have to have a filter? You said they didnt like moving water and would save me a little cash not to have to get another filter, but if they need a lower powered one, i feel like it would be worth it. 2) do you add calcium suppliment to your tank? your snails appear very healthy and there's no cracks or algae growth on their shells.
I've had about 200 hundred baby snails since this video was made; blues, purple striped, ivory, gold, olive and chocolate striped. A real mixture. I've sold most of them thank goodness.
Thanks for the replay!:D . THats amazing and you kept to cool ones!? .
My purple one impregnated my blue apple snail (and all the other though I called the purple one CHef he makes loive all day long with every one the lucky bastard )) there are some egg's now i'm so excited to find out what i will get !, its all uploaded in my video's if you like .
Snails don't need foreplay - they are slimy before they start ;)
The tank looks great. You should give my mother-in-law a lesson in tank cleaning. She used to have fish, until she decided that adding half a cup of bleach to the water would clean it up. Scary lady.

Lovely tank, I'm due to start again from scratch in a few weeks after all my fish died a year ago, after buying some new ones. A painfull disaster.
