VERY NICE ! John Dowland was Elizabethan 007, and the government gave him a special piece of espionage equipment. He was fluent in Danish, and sent to spy on their King and Queen, he had to get close to hear conversations, so Tudor "M" gave him a close proximity intelligence tool. A lute. nottalotofpeopleknowthat !
I agree, if you get the chance to see Phil live then go for it, currently touring, I think, as part of 'show of hands' highly recommended and very entertaining. A must see!
Saw Phil last week in St Ives (Show of Hands) - cracking musician - he could get a tune out of a house brick! He played some brill stuff on guitar, fiddle and cuatro (Uke's cousin).
Are you kidding? It's much easier to play than the guitar! I play both, and definitely the uke is easier. Most people's problems come from playing the really cheap ukes which ARE just children's toys. The cheapest ones really aren't that good, and it does take some practise, even if you are a good guitarist.
why has someone disliked this? knobhead

A decent uke is very easy to play, sounds good (some very loud) and stays in tune. This guy plays brilliantly though, I agree!

The ukulele is a hellish instrument to play - I know I've tried - only fantastic musicians like Phil can make it sound anything like a children's toy
