I went through grade 4-7 here, and it was the best schooling of my life (back in 2000ish). If you plan on being stationed here and are worried about school and kids, they're in pretty good hands. DGF is a much better school than any American school I've ever attended. It's also an amazing place to grow up as a kid. Drive-in movies, playgrounds, parks, the pool, playing at the school even when school is out. Amazing place to live as a kid, probably as an adult too. Wish I could go back some day.
hi..the chicas in rota used to call me andres or chico back when I was stationed there in the 70's(1971-1974), it was beautiful back then. I used to live in the tall apartments in the background(2nd floor facing the beach.I lived there with 2 other room-mates that were stationed with me at the naval base). Those were some of the best year's of my life. Yould love to go back with my wife. I was young & single back then...Las memorias de rota...
I was there in the mid-1970's and again in the late 1990's. The promanade is beautiful and is quite long. It provides unlimited access to the beach. In the 1970's the beach was unremarkable and spartain. Rota is unhurried and relaxing. It is the perfect summer destination for a quiet, interesting holiday.
i was in rota from 2006-2009 i think the beaches are nice and relaxing. besides the fact that i am a female and you see tons of nude females on the beach lol. little weird but u get use to it i guess.
OMG the base was amazing. I got a tour from my first cousin's dad. It was AWSOME. The beach is great. I'm telling you. This beach has absolutely EVERYTHING. If you want a quiet beach you turn right (when looking towards the water) and walk a little. If you like a lot of people you just stay in front of the apartments.
Visiting here now...Love the view and the woman...My parents are stationed here, they got a beautiful house here...Be aware that if you planning on living here, the rooms in the house are small depending on where you are living...People had to look around for a couple months to find a place...one more thing, good thing though...these people here party during the night and are at the beach during the day...special time for them even if they have to work.I love everyday of stay here so far..dueces
I lived in Rota from '86 to '89. I lived in the tall apartment building in the background. fourth apartment down, directly above the blue flag in the video.
I was there from 1998 to 2001 while active duty in the US Navy. I want to live there again. I'll try to get a job there on base now that I am finally close to getting college done, hopefully it will work out for me. Thanks for the video it brings back a lot of good memories.
oh man..........i miss it there so bad, my dad was stationed there from 2000 to 2004. i miss it bad. i wanna go back its beautiful there, and i used to walk across that same promenade every day, we lived in town about 1 mile from the base, and about 2 blocks from the beach.
Do you still have connections in Rota?? I was there in 1997 - Navy related. Do you have more videos of that location?? Oh, it's so nice to see Rota again! I wish I had had a camcorder when I went. Next time I will!
Well, we go there every easter and this year in October too. We love it there, we used to stay on base but now we stay at the hotel Duque De Najera right next to the beach and near the port. Viva Espana!
