These deleted scenes are really amazing. I am surpised they took them out. I think some would have made the movie almost to scary for the average movie watcher. Pure genius and it was so easy to take it for granted in the 80s.
It seems like the sand burying would only work if they forced you to have your arms straight down with your hands near your hips, the weight of the sand would be too great for you to lift your arms. If you could get your arms bent and get your hands nearer the surface as you were being buried you might be able to escape.
@calamagrostis88 They tested this on a TV show once. First off, to dig a hole deep enough required the use of a back hoe (big machine). Secondly, the guy was able to dig himself out after about an hour of trying. HOWEVER, they tied the same thing while pouring water on him to simulate the tide coming in. The water made it impossible to dig out of. So it's possible to do this, but not as easy as it looks in the movie.
@hebleedsglitter In the original VHS and BETA version she is dubbed with the word 'crotch' LOL this is the first time I hear the word cunt in a mainstream film from the 80's!!!
My favorite stories are Father's Day, The Crate and Something to Tide You Over. They're Creeping up on You made me not eat Chocolate Rice Crispees for a month!
The greatest horror movie ever made by 3 masters of horror. Stephen King writer of many horror novels, George A. Romero "zombie legend" director and long time FX wizard Tom Savini. Great story, great film and great actors it should be restored and remastered for dvd & blueray with these "lost" scenes with featurettes, I'll pay the $25 for that dvd
Anyone ever notice that the marble ashtray Aunt Bedelia uses to bash Nathan Granthams head in appears again later in the movie on Leslie Nielsons nightstand?
On "Something to tide you over" The scene when he's laying on the bed watching T.V. with a drink in his hand. The marble ashtray is on the nightstand to his right
That ashtray can be seen in all of the segments if you look hard enough for it. It appears on the professor's desk in Jordy's first daydream sequence. It appears again in The Crate on Henry's desk in his study as he's writing the letter to Wilma. It can be seen as a soapdish in Mr. Pratts apartment in the last segment. And it makes a final appearance at the very end of the wraparound segment when Billy is stabbing the voodoo doll.
@TheAltair4 I kinda figured if it was in the something to tide you over segment it would be somewhere in all of them, I tried looking for it before in the others but didn't see it.Now I gotta pop the dvd on and find it..Cool..Thanks for the 411!!
Actually, that marble ashtray from "Father's Day" appears in all of the segments in the movie. It's on Leslie Nielsen's nightstand in "Something To Tide You Over," it is a paperweight on the doctor's desk in one of Jordy Verril's dream sequences, and it's also used as Upson Pratt's soapdish in "They're Creeping Up On You!"
@CazK88 I listened to it a couple of times. One of morgue techs asks her if the body is that of her fiancee' and it sounds like she screams first, then says "Yes! Yes!"
LOL..Thanks for answering my question. It just seems like she was going crazy! LOL. I wish they didn't delete that part from the film. I was actually trying to buy the deleted scenes. Can't seem to find it.
If memory serves, these are not actually deleted scenes. These were in the HBO version back in the day. You might want to try finding an old VHS copy.
I thought so, I had Tom Savinis book called Grand Illusions, and shows how he created the effects for Creepshow and others. As well as makeup effects for the deleated scenes.
You might check his website, I have the video tape of Sceam Greats that was the first of Fangorias video magazine series. But I don't know if they ever put that on dvd. I guess keep me posted on the special edition of Creepshow, if its even out there? And I'll keep looking too.
I just watched this last night with a friend again and I we noticed the ashtray used in "Father's Day" to smash Father's head in shows up in "Something To Tide You Over" and "The Crate" and also The Meteor story! Look for it.
I love this, thank you very much. Tom Savini mentions a lot of the deleted scenes in his film especially Creepshow so this is great to see the effects in full fruition. You should check out my short film PUREE which was a 16mm homage piece to Creepshow. We did our own guerilla special effects with the guidance of Savini's Grande Illusions including a prosthetic hand! Check it out CreepshowCreep
The Crate is by far the deepest, most clever story in Creepshow - i absolutely love Creepshow! i've been watching 1 an 2 for almost 20 full years now and I am still amazed at how fucking great they are..
Have you bought it? I read into the reviews that the quality is awful and the UK cannot ship it to the US because it may not be viewable outside Europe. Any idea why?
Thank you for these scenes! I never saw them before now and wish they were included in the original US release. The extra scenes in "Father's Day" really helped clarify some aspects about the episode, while Adrienne Barbeau's scene in "The Crate" made me love her frowzy, drunky character even more ("Aaah, call me Billie, everyone does!") Thanks so much for posting this!
I have that release and these scenes are NOT present. Perhaps you're thinking of a different release. What's the catalogue number? If what you say is true I would love to track it down.
