Im betting the person went to push the brake but actually hit the gas instead! I work on cars so I drive alot of cars in and out of the garage and there have been a couple of times when i have pushed on the brakes and the gas at the same time!!! There are a lot of cars that have the brake and gas peddles too close to each other and when u have boots on plus big feet it is easy to press both by accident! Lucky for me i havent wrecked because of it!
