my 6yr old is still in her 5point harness with 2inches to go before she outgrows it then she will be in a booster untillthe seat belt fits her properly i dont care if that means she's 10 before she sits with out one car saftey is about being safe not about looks for those who say it's stupid to use a booster or keep kids in the back seat i hope for your kids sake you dont get in an accident

You should never ever let a 6-year-old decide if he or she should or should not be in a car seat past that age. They are not able to make this kind of decision, as they can´t grasp just how serious the consequences of not using a car seat can be. Car seats often make the difference between life and death. Children have soft bones and their muscles are not as well developed as those in an adult person.

Yeah but time have changed and they now relize that kids are safer in carseats. You might of sat in the back seat with a normal bealt but it dosnt mean you were safe it just means you were lucky not to have been in an accident. The sartistics show that kids are safer in bosster seats untill they are 80 pounds. Safey is important no matter how sily or funny you think they look, kids lives are very important well my kids lives are anyway.

for the record... if you look at the manuals for booster seats, kids should indeed use them until about 5'7"... and unless you are over the 97th percentile in height, that won't be until you're well over 8yrs old.

the range for this is 8-12yrs.

My son is 8, he's 4'9, but he's in the 100th percentile for height.

if you google for the five step test for fitting the seatbelt, you will have a better idea of when kids are truly ready to stop using a booster.
