@Andrestopmo It works a lot better with a high res camera, but the concept works fantastically if you need to line up angles AND rotoscope using limited resources. Most people have a good webcam around.
@johndavideanimation Update-- I currently own both, and I've had SO many issues with Dragonframe. Honestly, iStopMotion is so much better at keeping files from going corrupt or losing files. Best option though is to simply stay away from any program at all, capture it in camera, and import it into Photoshop in my honest opinion.
Good idea! As you said, the live view on the cameras are shit to work with iStopMotion software. Live view is usable for a single shot sometimes, but it isn't made for longer shooting... Your tip is a very nice solution. I like it ;o)

i might actually end up doing this. i would just need to see how it looks before i attach that thing to my web cam. i might use it for my big movie that i'm gonna be working on soon
@IIproductionsII Oh, and yes, you can use SLR's with stopmotion software, just you don't have Live View. So you never truly know how far to move your people when rotoscoping.
@sgtjlopez But on Stop Motion Pro and on Dragon Stop Motion's website, they have a list of DSLR's with the live view function and that it can connect with the stop motion software.
@cubeproduktion Like I said, Dragon Stop-motion works with the Nikon live view, but the camera itself can OVERHEAT. Then you have to wait for it to cool down, not to mention the wear and tear on the camera sensor.
iStopMotion does not accept live view with a D90 for sure. It can capture directly from the camera, but now live view, and even if it did the sensor would just overheat.
@cubeproduktion (I have the Canon EOS 7D) But Dragon Stop Motion wrote that they have a feature where they will turn off the live view when it's not used.
wow this is clever.. i used to put my webcam on top of the slr camera but I'm totally gonna start doing this, thanks for the tip

johndavideanimation 6 months ago
@johndavideanimation I don't use stopmotion software much anymore. Using photoshop cs3 these days to be honest.

That's very clever! Does it work with other camera like canon G12?
xRithyx 1 year ago
@xRithyx As much as i love my G12, it only has a rangefinder, not a Through-The-Lens viewfinder. You wouldn't be able to lock the focus either.

@sgtjlopez damn, anyway thx for replying :]

Can't you use DSLR's with stopmotion software? I used my old camcorder with stopmotion pro. Why can't DSLR's work?
IIproductionsII 1 year ago
@IIproductionsII This is for live view. You would save the images onto the SD card and import later :)
