The Golden Age WAS NOT TV-14. At some point in 1997 when WCW was kicking their ass and they needed to be edgy to compete, the implantation of the TV ratings system was in December 96 and RAW was PG at first. On top of all this Smackdown(which Saint Dwayne dubbed "his" show) has ALWAYS been PG.

People today want to blame the PG rating on kids being at the events, on John Cena and on Linda for running for senate. All due respect to Superstar Billy Graham, but Linda running for Senate is not the reason behind the PG rating. Neither is it because kids are in the arenas today at the shows, and it certainly is not John Cena's fault. In a clip I saw earlier here, Crush turns on Macho Man in 1993. Kids who are today 30 were in the audience then. PG is Chris Benoit's fault plain and simple.

I also heard the reason WWE is losing a few Ratings is because he wants TNA to become as popular as them so he can have Competition. And TNA is already making the same mistakes. WWE has been pushing younger talent, and WWE Creative have been putting more emphasis on reality. They are listening to the fans more than ever, outside of the PG rating, WWE is better than it has been in a long while. TNA, isnt pushing young talent and is all talk.
It's as simple as this; if you don't want your kids to watch it, don't let them. A rating on the TV shouldn't parent your children. Sure, it's PG, but think about it, you're letting your child ASSAULT another person. It's pretty contradicting if you think about it.

The Golden Age WAS NOT TV-14. At some point in 1997 when WCW was kicking their ass and they needed to be edgy to compete, the implantation of the TV ratings system was in December 96 and RAW was PG at first. On top of all this Smackdown(which Saint Dwayne dubbed "his" show) has ALWAYS been PG.

People today want to blame the PG rating on kids being at the events, on John Cena and on Linda for running for senate. All due respect to Superstar Billy Graham, but Linda running for Senate is not the reason behind the PG rating. Neither is it because kids are in the arenas today at the shows, and it certainly is not John Cena's fault. In a clip I saw earlier here, Crush turns on Macho Man in 1993. Kids who are today 30 were in the audience then. PG is Chris Benoit's fault plain and simple.

This reason, along with the Benoit murder/ suicide are the main reasons why it's PG now. The only time it wasn't PG was during the Attitude Era when WCW started scoring better ratings. TNA will not come close to WWE any time in the near future, so Vince knows he can bank on the PG rating from all the merchandise that is marketed towards families.

And TNA is already making the same mistakes. WWE has been pushing younger talent, and WWE Creative have been putting more emphasis on reality. Vince was losing valuable wrestlers because people like Goldberg and Mick Foley just walked out on their contracts because kids made up a large proportion of viewers. Kids would see all the divas parading around in their underwear and everything else that goes with it. Many of the most popular wrestlers have families of their own and it should come as no shock that they were feeling uncomfortable about this and as a result would leave the business. They also have to answer to Stock holders being that WWE is no longer a privately owned company. Now perhaps Linda running made them want to be even more PG but again PG started years before that for many reaons that i stated.
P.S. They would have never been an Attitude Era if not for ECW

Not defending Linda all politicians suck but they were PG for years before she decided the run. They pretty much went PG after the whole benoit thing. Also since 84 (Hulkamania) they were PG until the Attitude Era (More PG than now) Vince has always wanted some sort of "Family Entertainment" to get more sponsers only reason Attitude Era came about was because WCW almost put them out of business by beating them in the ratings on a weekly basis and WWE was desperate.
