Very nicely rendered, indeed. This composition is not easy to sing because the nature of Kannada raga is such that it has twists and turns in both the ascending and descending scales. We can hear shades of the parent raga, Shankarabharana, at several places: It's like seeing the nose, eyes and lips of a parent in the face of a child. This is an austere and serene kriti. Sheshagopalan, KVN, and Hyderabad Brothers have sung it many times.
Shareeram is very mediocre but a thousand times better than the Carnatica brothers or whatever name they go by these days. What a torture listening to them, their vikata haavabhaava and sangeeta that can easily pass for attahaasa. shambho pahi!
@eternalspirit16 there is no reason to badmouth other artists. Carnatica brothers are artists with alot of gyanam...there is sheshtai on stage but the music should transcend. If you want to find someone truly with only a bunch of sheshtai on stage and no music look at aruna.
Sri Mathrubootham, Kunthalambasametham. I understand that kunthama is the wife of SrivMathrubootham. I cant understand the meaning of the song as it is in sanskrit.
I have heard this song many times sung by the doyen semmangudi mama. to hear kiranavali is a feast to ear. How suavely she sings this tricky raga. Muthukumaraswamy
Great Music from Kiran. Pedigree does show, dosent it? After all she is the sister of Ravikiran and a child prodigy in her own right. Excellent posting. Keep it up.
Nice voice

Deekshitar Sanskrit composition in praise of Matrubhootham (very popular name in Trichy) ... Kuntalamba as you say, is Parvathi Devi...
and together with Matrubhootham adorn the abode of Trishiragiri (7 hills) = Trichy
= Tiruchirapalli
I dont know of other songs in this raagam Kannada (not to be confused with Kaanadaa)

This is my favorite singer. I am very happy to see this. What raga is this? The time cycle or tala is seven beats but I don't know what it's called.
